A friend (waves to Billie-Lee) was telling me earlier
today about this week's American Idol challenge. It
got me thinking about Queen, and I started having a
fun old time imagining some of the sterner and more
controlled characters in fandom secretly rocking out
to Queen:

Forever Knight: Brooding vampire Nick and his
uber-controlling vampire master, LaCroix, drunk off
their asses on bloodwine, driving around late night
Toronto in Nick's '62 Caddy, top down, recreating the
Wayne's World Queen car sing-a-long scene.
"Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightning."

And the next line would be perfect for Nick in the
aftermath of 'Sons of Belial'

I don't know about baritone Nick hitting that high
note though.

I think that depends on *where* he stakes him.

Well if that's going to be a factor - Nat could be an
'assistant' to him for reaching the perfect pitch ...
all she'd need to do is do an indepth study on.....

I was checking out the Canadian Police Force website,
just looking around for info for a fic and I saw
something on the honor role that unnerved me... there
was a Knight on the police force in Toronto at the
time of FK... he died in the line of duty in 1994. I
was curious was this ever mentioned or commented on before??

Could this be an homage to the show by the department? That would be AWESOME.

No problem. Just stick him in the leather pants from Dying For Fame, minus a
couple inches in the crotch. He'll hit the note, no problem.

Or he could just try a falsetto. <G>

Subject: Is This a Continuity Error I See?

Been re-watching the 1st season DVDs (dirty job, I know - but somebody's got
to do it!), and something that's long been niggling away at the back of my
mind finally came into focus. It's a question of the Schanke offspring...

In "Dying to Know You", when psychic Denise jogs his memory, Don rings Myra
about her bowling outing and talks about 'the kids' - plural.

In the very next episode, "False Witness", he talks about Myra and 'the
kid' - singular, who remains an unidentified kid for the next few episodes.

At the end of "Dead Issue", Nick reluctantly attends the precinct picnic,
and arrives as Donny is talking to a boy of about 10 years as if he's the
boy's dad, along the lines of "Play nicely, don't squabble, keep away from
the girls 'cause they're trouble...". Each time I've watched that scene it
bothers me - it's *not* the way I'd expect him to talk to someone else's son
unless the two families are really, really close - like his partner's
son.... Only we all know that as Detective Nick Knight, Nick doesn't have a
son. So - who is this boy who looks alike enough to John Kapelos to
actually be his son?

It's not until the following episode, "Hunters", that the familiar
'Myra-and-Jenny' turn of phrase arrives, as Don sends them up to his cabin
in the north for safety after he becomes a target for assassination.

Explanations, please?

(Pause as Kezia reaches for the cheese... <VECG>)

Nick would not have been the first partner Schanke ever had, and the little boy
could be the son of a friend, a nephew Schanke and wife were treating to a day
out, etc.
