Subject: Vampire fiction article...

I was just reading the current issue of Time Magazine and they had an
article about the popoularity of vampires in fiction. It focused on
two authors - one is Laurel K Hamilton (Anita Blake)
Here's the link to the online version:

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1161234,00.html

I liked how they said that the allure is that the current breed of
vampires in fiction are not monsters, but that they were people
first.
To tie it in... that's kind of how FK treated the vamps - they were
actual characters, not mindless monsters.

Wellllll, there is that scene in NiQ when Nick and Nat kiss quite
passionately in front of the fireplace. Then cut to Nick's dream.
Some people (myself included when the mood strikes me) believe that
they might have gone much further than a simple kiss that evening.
Using the fact that later on in the ep when Nick's memory begins to
return and Natalie says "We can't be together" and Nick says "What
about last night?" That may imply that more than simply a kiss
happened.

Just some people's opinion.
But yes, to the person who mentioned that that idea can explain the
two of them having a more open relationship in later episodes. (ie:
MBIAV)
Thanks!!

Yes I'd say that's more plausible that a whammied one - no one interfers with

I'm pretty certain that in one interview James Parriot confirmed that it
had indeed been more than just a kiss.
How much more? Up to you to write!
I believe they went the whole nine yards, but that's just me, lol.

It is the episode in season 3 where Nick is shot in
the head and suffers from Amnesia. He doesn't remember
he is a vampire and actually acts human until he goes
out in the sunlight and realizes something is
different about him, and Nat has to tell he is a
vampire.

Well, I always thought they went further because Nat states that, that was what
kept them apart. And kept is past tense of keeps.
If nothing had happened, why wouldn't the line be keeps us apart.

Besides I remember someone mentioning somewhere that the writer of the episode
left it ambiguous, but personally thought they did.

Would have made an interesting 4th season problem had they had one.

I read an interview with James Parriott where they
asked if he intended that they were "together" and he
said absolutely. I'll try and find the article again.

read it!

Ok, really silly question...

I just had a scene pop in my head (no idea what promted it - I'm at work)
A vampire (or someone pretending to be a vampire - can't remember)
has killed someone.
Natalie measures the distance between Nick's fangs and when he asks
if he is off the hook. She answers "You and just about every other
MALE vampire."

I'm thinking 3rd season... maybe Hearts of Darkness, or MBIAV?
Anyone know?
Thanks!

I believe that was Stranger Than Fiction from the second season. The wounds
were made be the teeth on a critter on the head of a walking stick.

Sorry Don,
Amanda was right with one of her guesses. It was Hearts of Darkness from
season three. The one with Ellen/Monica/Jacqueline the person/vampire with
multiple personalities. Also, the ep where we learn about Urs's past. (Been
on a recent FK bent, re-watching the eps and re-reading some of my fav
fics.)

Okay, going back to lurking now.
