Well, before I invented my original FK fanfic character, Nichole Knight, I had done tons of research to find anything similar to a *mortal's* way of procreating for a vampire. Thus, I found the legend of a *dhampir*. According to my understand of the myth, when a male Romanian Gypsy dies and comes back as a vampire. Most of the time, this male vampire has an unnatural need to have sex with his widow and if this encounter ends in a pregnancy, the child born is half-vampire and half-human or witch. It is also said that the child would have this driving need to hunt down its undead relatives and kill them, but they are not very trust worthy as they, themselves, are half undead. Of course that is only an outline of the myth and it does not go into too much detail, so I did invent a few myself. To sum it up, there are terms that have been used from ancient times, with many being renamed and reinvented to fit into modern tales. The lines blur, and before we know it people forget the origins. I think this is true in the FK world. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Feb 2006 06:03:11 -0500 From: Forever Knight Tales <fknight420@c.......> Subject: Re: 24 I think he looks wonderful no matter what. He got more handsome with age and gets better everytime. It looks like he joins Jack to find the gas, but I'm still betting he turns later and the President is naughty as well, don't know where yet. The February issue of _Ninnau_ (the North American Welsh newspaper) has and article on p. 19 with the headline: "Knighthood for the Rev. Dr. Cerwyn Davies". The Rev. Davies was invited to become the spiritual head of the Toronto priory of the International Order of St. George and was thus "dubbed and spurred as a knight of the International Order of St. George" on Oct. 25, 2005. The article explains that since St. George was a horseman, the title "Chevalier" is given to his knights and that "chevalier" is from the French word for horse, "cheval", which is related to the Welsh "ceffyl". St. George is the patron saint of twelve other countries besides England and of soldiers, cavalry, chivalry, farm workers, Boy scouts, butchers, horses, riders, saddlers, archers, and the Knights of the Round Table. He seems to be the only saint who was a horseman. The article includes a brief history of the order. It began in Hungary (wave to Gladys Bears) when its king, Robert of Anjou created the Knightly Order of St. George in 1326 (a hundred years too late for Nick). The second order of St. George was created in England. (Order of the Garter) After the Communist takeover of Hungary, the Order went underground there, but enjoyed a "spectacular re-emergence" (emerged from its world of darkness, as it were) in the years following 1989. "Its constitution was ratified at a ceremony in Budapest in the presence of the President's representative, the Prince Cardinal of Hungary, the Senior Protestant Bishop and the Hungarian Senior Judge." The Order came to North America in 2002, establishing a priory in Niagara Falls. The Priory of Toronto was established on Oct. 29, 2005. Yes, there is a picture, but no, I do not have the equipment to scan it. He is wearing his medal and smiling. B.
