NB has the charisma that you rarely see these days in 'modern' thesps. A lot of the actors publicity agents flaunt their gorgeous features but then they open their mouths for interviews and it can make you cringe when the visage doesn't live up the legendary appeal the likes of Cary Grant had. But while he isn't your Grade A Hollywood Beefcake, he can melt you with the slightest of glances and as we all know the quietest of whispers.... Given what Lacroix is meant to symbolise to the audience (power, sensuality, etc.), it's exactly how I think Parriott et al want us to react to him: to love and hate him, to share Nick's own dual reaction to Lacroix. Can't go about disappointing those guys now, can we?? ;p Luicia --- CousinLucilla <cousinlucilla@f.......> wrote: > Even though we may despise Lacroix at times, part of us (at > least of me) wants to surrender to such power. > God, do I need a shrink? > > Laurie of the Isles wrote: > > >The word that comes to my mind is "magnetism". Suddenly we're bright and breezy! ROTFL! no, no, I won't shoot you. honest mistake. And I've just gotten over the goo going around here; I sympathize. And I stick my foot in my mouth all the time. <g> to tell the truth, that's one of the things I like about the name, that one can't automatically tell the gender. Makes one stop and think how much our mental picture of a person is determined by what gender we think the person is. chris ;? --- Luicia <luicia1705@y.......> wrote: > HUGE APOLOGIES!!!!! suffering from huge foot-in-mouth > sydrome at the minute.... I'm definitely a Die-hard; I can't pick my favorite, they're all great. > How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get > started? I started watching the show in 2000 on Space channel. I'd heard about it when it first aired here in Canada, but I was afraid to watch for fear it would be truly cheesy. Besides, it conflicted with something-or-other in my schedule, I forget what. > Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? Nope, haven't had the pleasure. Perhaps Eve & I will get together one day, though... > Favorite Episodes for each season? Tough call. Since I'm a contrarian, I'll pick some not-so-obvious ones. For season 1, Dance by the Light of the Moon--I like the way Nick and Cyndy Preston (the stripper) are character foils; he sees right through her because, in many ways, he used to *be* her: following his evil impulses just for kicks. Season 2: Amateur Night, which I didn't see much in at first, but found to be really funny after my few brushes with filmmakers. Season 3: Blind Faith, which was the basis for several of my fanfics. Not that I've written a lot of fanfic, or anything. I know lots of people hate Jody and Perry, but I saw real potential in Jody's character as a vampire; she was a smart cookie who might just avoid some of the trouble Nick got into. But I also liked Games Vampires Play. > Other hobbies? Researching & reenacting Canadian history of the voyageur era (see my website, at www.northwestjournal.ca); list-owner and moderator of some related historical Yahoo groups (h-voyageur, 19cWoman, SavoryFare2) church librarian (volunteer & amateur); video games (currently hooked on Animal Crossing DS). > Family status? Married. > Have you ever met anyone famous? Well, I walked past David Suzuki once. Does that count? Also, my husband and I helped out with one of the two-hour episodes of Canada: A People's History by supplying props (translation: our personal reenacting supplies) and historical expertise; we provided similar help with another documentary on Canadian explorer David Thompson. As a result, we're pretty jaded when it comes to the whole filmmaking process. Darn few famous people involved in documentary films. I don't remember the present day plot but the flashback had Nick, Lacroix and Janette in Paris during the revolution looking for a young vampire (one of Lacroix's fledglings I believe, but it could also have been one of Nick's). They find him in prison and sentenced to die. Anyone remember this one?
