How did you get started?<< 5 years? I was the last of the three of us triplets to relent. Megan found it first, who told Rose, who showed it to me. >> ---Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?<< You mean, do I ever get off the computer for long enough to meet people not on the list? ha ha. I met a few list-friends in person at FK in SD a few years back. musta been '03. I don't remember everybody's names. Nancy K. was there, and Cloud, I think. You know who you are. you'll remember me: I was the one on the crutch. >> . ---Favorite Episodes?<< been too long since I sat down and watched them. what a lazy fan am I! uh... One mother, one father; one of ten mostly grown children; one of three fraternal triplets. >> -Have you ever met anyone famous? I met Alex Trebek when I was little. I've met Andy Serkis, and I met Dave Coolier at random in an airport in Winnipeg, of all places. a dream of mine is to one day meet Garrison Keillor. anything else you ought to know about me...you probably don't want to know, mwa-ha-ha-ha! I love having so many friends online, since I have so few in person! <rueful G> chris ;? "I don't bite.... His no-nonsense approach to vampirism (specificially about the futility of guilt and regret) is easily applied to a non-undead life as well and (if you can believe it) has helped me grow as a person. Not to mention, that voice is simply liquid platinum, and NB's expressiveness brings a realism to the part of 'vampire master' that usually isn't found in most shows of the genre. > >How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started? Ack, can I even remember now? I know that I have been watching as far back as Crimetime After Primetime, but I can't recall for the life of me how I first discovered the show. I've been on the lists here since sometime in the middle of high school -- something like 12 years ago. > >Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? Sadly not. I wasn't going to do this, but oh well. I'm a student in Washington, and missing my family! I... hang out, dance, spend waaaaay too much time on the computer. :) >---Who is your favorite FK character and why?< Always been a fan of Schankie. He's just funny! Always has to put up with Nick, has a fairly normal life otherwise, easy going and garlic is my favorite vegitable too! >-How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started?< Oh, years. First episode I ever saw was...Feeding the beast, back when it was first airing. Mom thought I was too young at that point, so I waited until Megan re introduced me. >---Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?< Yes. >. ---Favorite Episodes?< Feeding the Beast. Curiouser and Curiouser, Stranger than fiction, partners of the month, Father Figure. > ---Other hobbies?< Reading, computer, reading, outdoors activities, dancing, reading, baking, writing, reading, music, and oh, reading. >-Family status? I'm afraid all us Thatchers are Depressingly single. Except for our parents, who are depressed as us being single. <G> >-Have you ever met anyone famous? um. no. don't think so. nope. I'm actually one of those that really likes reading the fiction almost more than seeing the real thing. What can I say, I need a few more years before I find Nick or LaCroix really attractive. :) Ta-da! I think it's great to see what everybody is doing, and it does remind us to touch base with some old friends! This is waaay late because we were over in England visiting family for Christmas, and I promised myself I wouldn't check my e-mail until I had unpacked! >Who are you, where do you live, what do you do? Debi McKee (Lorin to all my online buddies), born & raised in England but now living in [Xxxxxxxxx-Xxxxx], Germany. A gorgeous country, but just ever so slightly chilly at the moment... My #1 job is Mum! Following that, I'm a cook... er, sorry, Food Service Associate (!) at an American bowling alley. >Who is your favorite FK character and why? LaCroix, definitely. He is so deliciously menacing... and oh, that voice... <whimper> Mind you, I wouldn't want to meet him. If I were dropped into the FK world and could meet a character, it would have to be Natalie - girly chats over a bottle of wine and a large box of chocs. >How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started? I discovered FK in 1997, on the Sci-Fi channel re-runs. I had just moved house, didn't know anybody, and was 7 months pregnant, so I spent a lot of time running around like a headless chicken trying to get everything sorted out. Collapsing on the couch for a couple hours in the afternoon seemed like the thing to do! I first saw C&C, which got me hooked because I couldn't make heads nor tails of the plotline but thought the writing and acting was outstanding, and had to watch the next day to try to figure out what the heck the show was about. I joined forkni-L in 1998 just after my daughter was born, but I mainly just lurk nowadays. Real Life can take up so much valuable computer time, can't it? >Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? I've *almost* met several - if I'd actually managed to get to any of the Cons that I had in my diary, I'd have met a whole bunch of you! I've actually only met Will Steeves and Greer <waves> in person. >Favorite Episodes for each season? First season... hummm. Not my favourite season, but I did like Unreality TV - the Enforcers were just hilarious - those TEETH! <g> 2nd season - Has to be the best season by far. Stranger than Fiction - Schanke's version of LaCroix! Fathers Day - lovely Nick/LC interaction. The Fix - Nick eating spaghetti <g>. Be My Valentine - ooh, that scene at the Azure... C&C - the Ripe Peach speech. Near Death - the Naughty Nightie!! 3rd Season - Sons of Belial - love the scene where LC is verbally fighting the demon during the exorcism, it does my UFfish little heart good! I liked Fever too, I think Screed was woefully underexplored as a character. >Other hobbies? Reading, anything and everything but particularly crime and fantasy (an odd mix, huh?); history, especially the Saxons; cooking (yes, I'm sad, I do it all day at work then come home and do it for fun); drawing and painting. Oh yes, and the odd moment on the computer... >Family status? Married, with a 7-year-old daughter who was raised on FK and could recognize Nick on the TV when she was 2, but got freaked by the yellow eyes when she was 3 and I had to start watching it at naptime! >Have you ever met anyone famous? David Essex, a 1970's/1980's singer/actor, who was incredibly nice. And Alabama, backstage after a show - they are all wonderful guys. As I was driving home last night, I was hit by how "group names" seemed to fit various of our character factions a mug of Perks a scurry of RatPackers a green of Caddywacks a romance of NickAndNatePackers a homicide of Ravenettes an eternity of Knighties a stare of Vaquaros a trouble of Cousins a meltdown of Nunkies Tim ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 14:46:27 -0500 From: "Phillips, Tim" <Tim.Phillips@s.......> Subject: Re: Getting to know us >---Who are you, where do you live, what do you do? Tim Phillips I live in central Vermont just outside the state's capital of Montpelier. I work for the state as a software developer and database builder/maintainer. >---Who is your favorite FK character and why? Mmm. Toughie. When I first started reading this forum, I was very quickly a Nick/Natalie romance fan (I'm a sucker for star-cross lovers... I've got half-finished version of "Natalie and Her Nicholas" - a FK version of Romeo and Juliet set in a Toronto openly half-controlled by vampires - sitting waiting for the muse to hit again. Any male not interested in Janette needs to be checked for a pulse... because I do think he is already dead... and not in a good way. The season 3 characters I was.... could do without or without... until one fateful night when I realized that Vachon looked like a roadie for a hardrock band. By the time I was in front of the computer and writing the story FANG... I'd changed my interest in him. An hour later when Tracy let out the clutch on a 428CJ engine and sent her Mustang shrieking with a demonic sonic into the streets of Toronoto (while INXS's Suicide Blonde was all but deafening me in repeat play on my stereo)... I realized I was a major Dark Perk in disguise. Truth is...I like all the various characters. My one real regret is that the show ended... and was done in an era when story-arcs and character development were just really beginning to be an accepted part of television. There was a lot more exploration of these characaters waiting to be done. Oh, and I just want to say I like the Caddy. 'Course, it needs to be painted mirror black, slammed into the weeds and shaved... but that is just my taste to make it completely perfect. >---How long have you been a FK fan? How did you get started? I actually watched the original Nick Night pilot with Rick Springfield with my mother when it broadcast. I still have the original tape (played it a year or so ago before I got the pilot on DVD) and watched it a decent amount back in the day. Both mom and I liked the pilot and thought it could be a good show. When FK started on CBS, I tried to watch it....but I was sitting there going "where is rick Springfield???? Who is this blonde prettyboy they've get playing Nick? Who is this guy who thinks he's LaCroix??? They made the pathologist a woman...is that transparent or what??" I taped a few episodes but neither I not my mother liked it (I was living in Boston at the time and neither of my parents could figure out how to program a VCR... so I taped things for my mom and dad and brought them home). Since Bab5, DeepSpace9 and the X-Files were out and about... I had plenty of shows that interested me to watch at the time. Fast forward a few years and there was a 10 hour FK marathon on SciFi one Saturday. I flipped the TV on for basically background noise while eating lunch and the episode that was on was - I think - Curiouser and Curiouser or A More Permanent Hell. Ate lunch and spent the rest of the day watching the marathon going "boy I really missed something here". I watched and taped until SciFi stopped carrying FK... and now have Season 1 and 2 on DVDs. Still haven't watched the Season 2 boxset yet... but it is there waiting in line with the mountain of other entertainment I have. >---Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists? No. But I do have a black winterjacket with the FK logos on it. I've been out in public with that in some "off the beaten trail" little towns here in Vermont and had folks recognize the logo and stop and chat a bit. >---Favorite Episodes? 1) Curiouser and Curiouser 2) A More Permanent Hell 3) The Fix 4) I can't remember the title... but the one where Janette came back in the 3rd season 5) any of the rest. I can't really think of a stinker in the bunch. >---Other hobbies? try to write fan fiction for FK and other series I find intriguing building LEGOs and otherwise enjoying time spent with my two young nieces reading too much watching too many movies spending time with a handful of good and old friends pounding away at intriguing software development "problems" I am a sponge for information. I use to read encyclopedias as a kid. Now, I am a menace with something like the wikipedia or simply google and a half-hour to kill (or a bookstore with volumes unread) I have an extensive and wildly varied music collection (I've been known to follow ABBA with MotorHead, Best of the 80s Voume 4 and then a 2000 Year Old Man CD). I've got an old 1969 Mach1 Mustang that has been "being restored" now for far too long. I keep finding things to do to help my dad and brother and friends far more intriging than beating on that old thing's steel hide... still.. one of these days... she may yet regain the road. dreaming up weird ways to combine hobbies... if I only had the time to do any one of them justice. For instance: "let's see.. I can build the FK universe in LEGO - getting my mom who does dollhouse stuff to customize the figures so you can tell Nat from Janette -, film a series of scenes with my digital camera, write dialogue and story to go with them, use a varient of my SpiderNet sofware to build an eletronic web picture book, learn how to play synthesizer keyboard and record my own score....so I create an multimedia FK experience." >---Family status? Single but my brother married a good woman and they have two wonderful girls who live nearby and my parents are great people.... so the fact that I don't have a lady around isn't the end of the world. >---Have you ever met anyone famous? No...but I don't think meeting someone famous is in any way particularly noteworthy for itself. I know I'm partially colored by what I do for a living... where what you know and can do is far more important than how loudly someone else trumpets your virtues. I enjoy the characters that "famous people" like actors create...but I'm not really that interested in the personal life of the actors themselves... aside hoping that an actor/actress I like has the good fortune to have been successful in their pursuit of happiness.
