There are horrible neighborhood fires in Oklahoma City. I know we used to
have some list members from that area. One of the first forkni-l members I met
was Katrinka (who I haven't seen post so may no longer be subscribed).

Please check in if you are from OKC and let us know you are okay.

I am still here, and still subbed :) I know, I should post more.

I've been watching the fires on the local channels. Right now the fires are
at NE 50 and sooner road of Oklahoma city. This is getting a little close to
'home' ie the school I teach at. Which is at NE 10 and Midwest Blvd.

Since I teach a TMR class, some of my students live near the area of the
fire. So far, I haven't heard anything, but I am trying to keep my hopes up.

I live in [Xxxxxxxxx], right now, the fires haven't gotten near my town yet.

Duncan, a town about 30 miles from Chickasha has lost five houses. But I
heard that their fires have been contained.

So please everyone keep good thoughts in your mind about the fires in
Oklahoma and Texas.

I'm not sure if I did this yet, so forgive me.

>Who are you, where do you live, and what do you do?
Well, I'm Cheryl Pillsbury, I live in [Xxxxxxxxx] MA and I'm a
stay-at-home Mom and I'm a published writer; writer, editor on the side
with a small business.

Who is your favorite Character and why?
That's hard because they're all unique in a special way, but if I must
it's LaCroix because of his charm, his msile, his wisdom and that voice.

How long have you been a FK fan? How did yu get started?
When it first arrived from Canada, the movie was horrible, but I have
been obsessed with vampires since the early seventies; 8 years old; I'm
now 47.

Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?
Not yet, but always trying to.

Favorite Episode?
Hard to say, but the second was the best, I love Schanke and Nick
together

Other Hobbies?
Reading, Theatre, Writing, Scifi anything, my daughter, my friends,
Forenscis-criminal stuff.

Family Status?
Married, at the monent, one daughter, Alicia 12 and disabled.

How and where has FK changed your life, and Why?
It gave me hope and passion for life. I'm a hopeless romantic and gave
the intensity to write and stay strong. My life would not be what it is
today if it weren't for FK and Star Trek with my friends everywhere.
The characters Nick and LaCroix have become like a second skin for me
and the passion and love they share is unmeasurable. I will always
write in honor of them with any character I create in my books.

That's it for mow, sorry if this is a repeat.

Please, please, please keep Oklahoma and Texas in your thoughts. There
is a fire to the northwest of where I am and the fire command in a little
town 20 miles to the north of me is telling the residents to "be prepared
to evacuate if the need arises." The winds are still blowing quite
strongly though not as bad as they were earlier today but I'm not taking
any chances. I'm operating on the theory that if I'm prepared to go, I
won't have to. So I have a suitcase packed and my horse trailer ready to
hook up should the need arise. If I do have to evacuate, the birthday
announcements for January will be a little delayed. Good thoughts would
be very much appreciated right now!

And Kat, I'm glad you're still safe. I will keep your kids and school in
my thoughts as well as the rest of the people of Oklahoma!

Subject: LaCroix reaction to scenario for a fanfic

Hi Everyone,

I figured this was the place for the question
instead of fkfic-l. Sorry if I'm mistaken.

Okay, let's say there's a cult led by a ghost who
has it in for Nick and LC. In the process of
events, Nick and another of LC's children are
attacked by the enemy. LC finds out who the
responsible parties are.

My question is this--I know he's going to take
vengeance. But is it subtle or is he looking for
throats to rip out? Would he work through the
Community or take his own justice, preferring to
deal with the Enforcers later.

(Oh here's another twist--the ghost is the
deceased wife of the head Enforcer. )

Sorry to be so convoluted. I have an idea of how
it should go but wanted to ask for feedback.

Thanks

David

First Season, Crimetime After Primetime. I remember it very clearly, July 1992,
as I'd adopted my first cat, Vivian Carmencita, from the animal shelter the
week before. I was winding down from packing to move into my first apartment,
flipping through channels while snuggling with the kitten. I'd came across FK
just after the opening credits of "Dark Knight, Pt. 1," so I didn't realize the
series premise. I thought I'd stumbled across a regular detective show, and I
was interested on those grounds. By the time Nick got back to the loft and
started drinking blood from his jade cup, it'd blown my mind. I was hooked. The
first time I saw the opening credits, I recognized James D. Parriott's name -
when I was a kid, I'd adored his short-lived "Voyagers!" series. About the time
"Baby, Baby" aired, I was starting to check out the Internet. I was curious if
there was anyone else who liked FK as much as I did, and I quickly found
FORKNI-L, making the answer an enthusiastic, "YES!!!"

<snip>Have you ever met anyone off the FK lists?</snip>

Yes. High Priestess Jules, Nancy K., Third Cousin Patt, Libs, Caren, Christy,
Shele, Gayle H., Laurie MercBard, NunkMommy Annie, VaqMadre Tracy Sue, June W.,
and more.

<snip>Favorite Episodes for each season?</snip>

1st: "For I Have Sinned"

3rd: "Fever"

<snip>Other hobbies?</snip>

I love to swim, I sing, and do some mediocre amateur songwriting and recording
(though the mixing and recording has improved since the days when I slapped
together the llama llament for War 10. It was War 10, wasn't it?). I still
write crap when the mood strikes me.

Family status?

Single and fabulous. I have four cats: the aforementioned Vivian Carmencita,
Sabu, Emily (now also known as Pirate Kitty - her left eye was removed to
prevent her iris melanoma from spreading last November. She's adjusted like an
absolute champ!) and Mariah, some of whom have dictated their own fan fiction
adventures of Sydney Lambert.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I'm a little too self-absorbed for stuff like that to matter, unless it's an
experience shared with friends like the Austin trips to see Russell Crowe's
band play. In retrospect, visiting with the NunkAnon ladies (and I use that term
loosely) and the Ratpacker provided 99% of the thrills.

<snip>How and where has FK changed your life, and why?</snip>

Well, I'm pretty sure there would have been less llama in my life without the
FK fandom. Call it a hunch. :) More importantly, there are dozens of delightful
people and pets I would have never exchanged e-mails with or met if I hadn't
watched FK.

I've got a addition to Bonnie's story (what is it with me adding on to
various Bonnies' posts?)

We were eating before Russell Crowe's band's concert and when it became time
to go claim our concert space, the group got a bit ahead of me. I think
there were a few others trapped with me when Russell Crowe's bodyguards cleared
a path so he could get through the restaurant, although I don't remember who
they were.

So the Ratpacker finds herself staring at a familiar looking backside. I
look up a bit and notice Russell Crowe is just a foot or so directly in front
of me. I can't help letting out a Ratpackery cackle because I was mainly along
on the trip to visit and meet with everyone. I like Russell Crowe's acting
talents, but I'm not what you'd call a fan.

And there I was staring at the man's backside, and even I recognized it as
being a fine looking backside as far as men's backsides go (although I
personally think Nigel rates a little higher).

So after some hunting I finally catch up with the gaggle of FK fans (are we
a gaggle, herd, or flock?) Someone asks me where in the world I'd been
(because the group is always suspect as to what the Ratpacker is up to this
time...)

"Staring at Russell Crowe's butt."

I don't think some of them have forgiven me for being on the "right" side of
the bodyguards.

<wRPg> indeed... Say, do you think I should have offered to show Mr. Crowe
The Ratsie Wot Kilt Screed?

David:

I'm not sure how a ghost would be able to attack and (one gathers)
injure Nick and another vampire, nor do I know how LaCroix could hurt
or damage said ghost.

LaCroix has never struck me as a "team player" vamp. He would take
action of one kind or another. He might strike out in fury first, and
then, as the good general he is, consider the situation and take a
more tactical approach, if necessary.

Or he might contain his initial anger and parental reactions; blame
Nick for getting himself into this sorry mess <weg>; and then make a
brilliantly planned attack.

Again, it depends on how you structure the interactions between the
ghosts and vamps.

But use the Enforcers? For his own family business? I don't see it.

When I was younger it prepared me for staying up late and having to go into
classes anyway (now work). Now it's that one thing no one else seems to
know about that I'm passionate about (ok, so one of two things... the other
is La Femme Nikita).

I did indeed. He uses dental-grade porcelain and fits
each so that they are like caps; they are very
comfortable and easy to remove and put on. Last June,
Sherrilyn Kenyon complimented me on them :) If anyone
is ever in Seattle and wants them, you can make an
appointment in the University District at Gargoyles:

And, I'm happy to meet up for coffee, drinks, whatnot!
