OK, I created a Yahoo Group for anyone that might be
interested in discussing this. Page below, please feel
free to sign up there. First order of business will be
to create two polls. One for time of year first, the
second for locale (it will include several cons.)

I am just not a board person. I hate that you have to go searching for new
posts, instead of having them neatly lined up in your mailbox. Plus, they
can be so slow and difficult to navigate.

I guess I'm just a linear, simple girl at heart. <g>

Yeah! Bonnie sums it all up perfectly. But then, you expect that from a
literary llama. <g>

Subject: ADMIN: FKFIC-L Line Limit Increased

Lisa and I have decided to increase the per post line limit on the
FKFIC-L list from 300 to 500. This change is effective now. The three
post per day limit is still in effect.

We hope the line increase will make it easier for authors to post
longer fanfic without placing an undo burden on listmembers who have
older computers or slower connections.

Please let Lisa and me know if the change helps or causes problems.

Thanks,

Subject: Yultide Challenge??

Hi-
I had an idea for a christmas story that I was planning to write. Then on
the way to work today I thought I might be able to tweak it for the challenge.
But apparently while cleaning out my inbox, I seem to have deleted the original
post.
Could someone please send me the rules for the challege?
I know it was a sleigh ride, and a snowglobe, and something else.

  Thanks!!

Subject: PRAYER: Follow Up (And Thank You)

Good Morning,

First of all, I want to thank *everyone* for all prayers and good thoughts,
wishes, vibes and so on. I have tried to answer everyone individually--I hope
I succeeded, but I think I might have missed one or two; if I did, I am very
sorry, it was not intentional.

I will endeavor not to turn this into a novel <g>. One of my very best
friends tells me frequently, "you should have been a diagnostician." Huh, well,
let me just say, it is something of a pain in the tush being "right" so much of
the time. (Never say "never, always, all, none," *all* of that jazz, LOL.)
All I did was read the MRI results, couple them with what I knew was going on
and BINGO, I was able to figure it out. Not that much of a stretch.

I had my appointment with the Chief of the OB/GYN Department at my Medical
Group yesterday. The Verdict is: Total *Abdominal* Hysterectomy. <sigh>
There are a bunch of reasons why they can't do it the simpler, less invasive,
shorter recovery time way; particular to my situation--but, never mind. That
falls into "TMI" territory.

They can't do it until December 20th (Merry Frakking Christmas--for those who
are Battlestar Galactica fans <g>); because it is "important but not an
emergency." Apparently, the El Camino Hospital, (which remains among the top 8
hospitals in this part of the country, has for many years) O.R. is stacking up
with folks who want to get their stuff taken care of before their insurance
rates go up in January. SWELL, LOL.

The "abdominal" thing will effectively take me off of the job market until
something like the second week of February 2006. I will my first, for this go
'round (<sigh>, I still cannot belive it) Unemployment check in a week or two.
I still have to keep "looking" for a job to collect Unemployment. I have to
be "actively seeking work" for the Doctor to put me on State Disability
Insurance once he does the Surgery; or rather, to "Qualify."

Now, it takes me a month to FIND a job at what I do (Director, Manager, etc.
Nurse). And, who is going to hire me, and then I say, "woops, excuse me, I
need 6 to 8 weeks off while I go recover from my Hysterectomy?"

Honestly, I don't know what I am going to do. There are enough funds in the
bank to cover about a month and a half, maybe two. And I currently have a
non-working "Spouse." (Don't go there, please--we have already gone 15 rounds
about it; it was a "draw.") I can go against my nature and fudge to
Unemployment for the time being, as long as they don't ask me to list where I
had interviews. This week I did have some; including with Gentiva Rehab Without
Walls--that turned out to be a lot of smoke and mirrors, which I kind of
thought it might be.

Lying to Unemployment would be really, really hard for me. I have never
defrauded the government in any way (taxes, etc.).

I honestly don't know what to do except to pray, pray, pray. And that is
getting harder and harder. I keep telling myself "Lean not on thine own
understanding......"

And I remember Becky of the KOC's old sig line "Don't tell GOD how big your
storm is, tell the storm how big your GOD is." (Tony Evans) My friend showed
me a cute bear online the other day; he was wearing an "F.R.O.G." suit. Fully
Rely on God.

I just have to keep saying all of those things to myself. About every ten
minutes I want to call the Doctor and cancel the surgery. I can't do that of
course.

There is one possible super big bonus to it: it is highly possible it might
get rid of my migraines and all the medications (gradually) that I have to take
for them, since they are directly related to my fluctuating hormonal state
and my age. That would be VERY nice ;-)
It does, of course, mean instant Menopause, but prevents ever any uterine
cancer.

ARGH!!!!!! Ever feel like you want to stand on top of a mountain and just
scream?

I am going to go ahead and do it, of course, it is absolutely necessary.
And, F.R.O.G.

As long as I don't become homeless in the process...................

Oh dear, another novel <g>.

Thanks for listening, and thank you for your prayers, all of them. And
everyone has mine who has posted for them, even if I didn't answer
individually, as always.

Love and Forever Hugs,
Billie-Lee

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Having been laid off in the past (yes,
for the uninformed, nurses DO get laid off), I can empathize with being
unemployed and the panic that goes with that. I am assuming that relocation is
out of the question (or is it?). I know from experience that when one is going
to another state, one can accept the job in mid-September, yet not actually start
until mid-December. Getting a license by endorsement takes at least 8 weeks.
If what you are uncomfortable with is lying about having interviews or the
'actively seeking' part, you could be "awaiting licensure in Texas." Even if,
in the long run you don't decide to move, you haven't lied, or defrauded anyone.
You changed your mind, or you got a better offer closer to your current
location.

Sometime ago, I received requests for my fanzine "Season of Change", a Dark
N&N Christmas story, to be offered in pdf format. I can't remember who the
people were that wanted it, but it's now available. I'll be happy to email
it to anyone who would like a copy. If you're not familiar with pdf, it's
the format that a lot of the e-books (electronic books) use. The pdf version
of this story comes complete with cover art.

***PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR REQUEST ON THIS GROUP!!!!

If you would like a copy, send me an email with "Season of Change" in the
email's subject header at:

debh@e.......

Due to requests, I'm also considering turning "Another Life", another N&N
Christmas story, into a published fanzine. Please email me off this group if
you're interested. The fanzine will be offered at printing cost with no
profit, but I need to have enough orders to keep the printing cost down; the
more ordered the cheaper the cost.

Thanks,
Deborah

I've put together a list on my blog about the FK
stories I've written, the links at the FTP site that
they correspond to, and the story/characters. There
are even a couple of "Pending" hints if you are
interested. ;)

It's at the very bottom of the front page under "FK CD
to burn". Scroll to the bottom.
