I was at a wine tasting last night, and we were
tasting WA reds. The Sommelier made a comment about
how the red we were discussing went well with rare and
bloody steaks and of course I thought of Janette :)

Both PN (Pat) Elrod (Nigel's co-writer) and Libby Smith Singleton (aka
Libratsie - author of the FK Atomic Mouse comic book parody) are scheduled to
be guests at Dallas' FenCon, Sept. 23-25 (gosh, I hope that's right - Friday
through Sunday, anyway <g>)

Alas, I'm pretty much out of copies of the comic book, but I will have my
latest publication which is a poetic adaptation of "The Story of The Rainbow
Bridge" for a cross stitch pattern by Sue Hillis (who is a major designer).

I'd love to meet up with some FORKNI-Lers if you are at the con. Just
remember to FEED the Ratpacker<wRPg>

I should have looked up the website before writing this e-mail, but I *THINK*
it is www.fencon.com or www.fencon.org (my home computer loads websites very
slowly so if someone checks the site out, could you post the correct one?)

That would depend on whether he were mortal at the time or not, of
course ^_^ . A vampire would have to have a night wedding completely devoid
of religious location or symbolism. So maybe like a themed wedding. . .
like the way I've heard people have Star Trek weddings or whatever. Since
he's a vampire, maybe a Hallowe'en wedding, like people come dressed in
costume and it's held in an allegedly haunted location, or something. If
he's mortal, they would probably go for a cheery outdoor wedding in the
spring, just 'cause thjey could. I imagine Natalie would be something of a
Bridezilla, though. I mean, she's waited all that time and put up with so
much from Nick to get her wedding, so she would want to make sure everything
was perfect.

Maria-sama ga miteru. . . 'cause she's just a perv like that -_-; . . .

Just as a bit of FK fandom trivia, The Ratsie Wot Kilt Screed once was an
attendant in a wedding held at a science fiction convention. He was carried by
a Klingon (me) and he held a tiny bouquet of gold flowers. *blink**blink*

Yes, the wedding was legit and the lucky couple are still together. I'll
probably see them at FenCon.

Nat would probably prefer a small gathering of close friends and family. I
don't think the frills of a big wedding would mean that much to Nat. For
her, having Nick's love and him as her husband would be enough. She would
also know the dangers of drawing attention to such an event--Enforcers,
Elders, other vampires who didn't approve, etc.

Depending on the circumstances, I can see Nat tolerating Janette's
attendance if Nick desired it. If LaCroix continued to soften like it
appeared toward the end of Season 3, he might even attend the wedding. This
is not to say that Janette and LaCroic would approve, but they might
tolerate attending and eventually accept it because of their love for Nick.

Nick becoming mortal and marrying Nat? I never did like that idea (prefer
Nat to become immortal, perhaps after a kid or two). I doubt Nick would
survive very long as a mortal for many reasons. If he remained a cop--well,
you can imagine what could happen--too dangerous. Also, his body would be
exposed to many things that he didn't have an immunity to from 800 years
ago. I'm sure there's other reasons, but it's late and I'm too tired to
think.

Well it hasn't happened... yet.
I have been looking online at cars - I can't stand the car I bought (Honda
Civic) after the car I loved was totalled in January, so I've been looking into
possibly trading it in.
The car I am really looking at is the new 2006 Hyundai Accent (they are
redesigning it) It is a nice small inexpensive car.
So I built one online and the color I like is Quartz Green - aka Caddy Green!!!
I keep telling people that I want the green, but I haven't added the reason why
I like the color so much. I am even mulling over the idea of getting a
personalized plate to match the caddy. So the car would be "Mini-me" to Nick's
caddy. <g>

I actually attended a vampire-themed wedding in the summer (July, I think)
of 1980. It was at ShadowCon 2, the second-ever "Dark Shadows" convention
and my first fannish event. The ceremony took place in the ballroom of the
LA Hyatt-Regency where we had the convention, and everyone attending the
con was invited. Guests included at least one of the show's stars, Diana
Millay, who borrowed my roommate's spare gown because all guests were
requested to come in 1795-ish garb, in keeping with Barnabas Collins's
original time period.

(When Ms. Millay, who was very, very nice, came up to our room to try on
the gown, it was the only time in my life I've ever had a TV and/or movie
star strip down to skivvies right in front of me. It was kind of
anticlimactic, actually. Aside from the fact that ideally I would have been
watching David Selby strip, she wore the same ordinary stuff the rest of us
wear, and there was even a little tear in her slip.)

The ceremony's unconventionality included a Best Person rather than a Best
Man (it was a woman in a tuxedo). To the best of my recollection, the groom
was dressed for the 1790s. The bride wore a fairly normal bridegown for
1980, except for the ankle-to-thigh cast from an automobile accident that
week before, but the makeup revealed when the groom raised her veil
was...well, let's just say that it startled her mother (who was a very good
sport) to see her with a deathly-pale face and a trail of blood running
down from the bite-marks on her neck. I don't believe it startled the
groom, so he must have been expecting it. (The bride's mother later told me
that when she first saw the makeup all she could think was that her
daughter had had *another* accident.)

Yes, this was a real wedding, and so far as I know everyone lived happily
ever after. I do know that they had a little baby daughter shortly before
the con in either 1981 or 1982, and they were at that time still very
happily together.

Jean Graham, who I believe is on this list, would probably remember the
details better than I---I *believe* she was not only at the wedding but a
good friend of the couple.

Jean?

Regards to all,
Kat

She didn't, as far as I remember. I think it was meant to be a reference
to the fact that she likes her blood mixed with a little wine.
