I sometimes write from other POV's, but my own take on the subject is that
they just get the empathy thing going on, the emotional overtones from those
they have some sort of bond to. But if the person had been at all
telepathic in life, that they would remain so. Or if they were adept at
reading a person's body language or knew a person well enough to know what
would be most likely to trigger a particular emotional state in that person,
they could well use that knowledge to whatever end they chose. That's my
personal take on the nightcrawler monologues. I'm not sure why I came up
with that bit of 'logic', but it's my current take on the matter.

Back to lurking now...

Hugs,

I always had the impression that in the flashback of "Killer instinct" Lacroix
communicates telepatically with Nick when Nick replies "I hear you but I can't
see you" or something like that.

Generally I agree with the view that usually only strong emotions are
transported. But perhaps there's more possible after a recent sharing of blood. This
would fit with the above mentioned scene which happened shortly after Nick had
been brought across.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

It's funny but I rewatched disc 5 (A More Permanant Hell) because I needed to
do a little research for my fics. I noticed that Blood Money had an audio
commentary from Ger and James (Jim) Parriott and so I watched it with the comments
and lo and behold, my question was answered.

It was during the scene where Nick and Schanke first go to Paparazzi and Nick
used mind control on the doorman. Actually, he didn't use it until Nick went
alone, but the comment was in the former scene.

Anyway, Nick and Jim got into a discussion about mind control and Jim said that
they didn't want to do a whole lot of that because, and I am paraphrasing here,
it wouldn't work with the whole crime theme.

So, it seems that's the definitive word on it. They can feel each other, hear
each other during blood taking, but not read minds because it would make the
police part of the show sort of meaningless.

BTW, didn't you love when Ger said in his comments that the kids in the police
station were his and the baby was "Cathy's". Still can't see Catherine Disher
as a Cathy though.
