IIRC, it was "Diviants" not Deviants, wasn't it?

I don't know....I know he still has feelings for
Janette but am still drawn to the Nick/Nat 'ship just
like I am the Buffy/Angel ship. I guess you could
actually say there's a parallel between
Nick/Nat/Janette and Angel/Buffy/Darla...

*ponders what it is that draws her to those ships
anyway and why she likes them so much*

I still think I really need to write a crossver
sometime....I really want to get Angel together with
Nick....They could start a new thing: Brooding in
pairs....lol Although I would *NOT* want to see how
LC would react if he found out Nick was possibly
hanging around with not only a human but a SLAYER now.
Yipe..... And Spike and Dru would probably drive LC
nuts. (although Darla might've gotten along with
Janette since both started as prostitutes...

*Tries to picture Nat's reaction if she found out
there were also demons running around*

I've crossed in RPs, with the explanation that no one
ever found out there were more than one type of vamp
because the Enforcers and the Community in general
keep things so low key while the others just don't
care. And I see the Community as seeing the
Buffy-types as beneath them, you know less
sophisticated and able to blend in, drawing too much
attention...

uhoh, looks like I'm going back to what we were
talking about sometime back....feel free to move in if
you like.

Subject: computer woes & e-mail addresses

I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer this past week; and the
repair shop decided that the best way to fix it was to reinstall Windows XP
on my hard drive, wiping everything on it. They backed up some of my
files -- only some, alas.  I really wish they'd called me before doing it;
I'd have told them other things I'd've wanted them to save.
Fortunately, I had most of the rest backed up myself. This includes
all my wordprocessing files, including the Forever Knight fan fiction I've
written. (So don't worry: none of Season V was lost.)

But...they didn't back up my e-mail address book. (Or anything else I had
in Outlook Express.) So, please: anyone out there who's been writing me --
or vice versa -- would you please send me an e-mail so I can get you back in
my address book?

Subject: Re: Nick and Natalie vs. Janette

Amanda Berendt says:
>I kind of see a parallel of Nick and Nat's relationship as
>kind of similar to a second marriage. Ummm.... a second
>marriage following a death, or a very amicable divorce....

Oh, yes. And more: think of "Curiouser and Curiouser". The relationships
between Nick and the others in the dream dimension are based on a
combination of reversal and guilt.
In the dream, Nick was married to Janette, but cheating on her by having
an affair with Natalie. This suggests, as far as his guilt is concerned,
that to some degree he still feels that Janette is the long true love of his
life, and Natalie an intrusion on that loyalty. This guilt interpretation
takes the dream literally.
But, as far as reversal is concerned, the relationship in "Curiouser and
Curiouser" has to be interpreted in the opposite way: that Nick's true love
is Natalie, and his occasional present-day dalliance with Janette is the
souce of guilt.

A contradiction? But dreams are, after all, susceptible to multiple
interpretations; it's part of the fun of them in TV shows. So maybe both
readings are right. There's no reason not to see both as valid, on some
level. That would make Nick deeply torn between the two women -- in love
with Natalie (and in love with Natalie's humanity), but with long loyalty
and love for Janette. It's true that he's had a lot of hot but brief flings
down the centuries; but these two go deeper.
In a way, he feels wedded to Janette still. Why wouldn't he? After
all, 97 years is a looooong time. In relation to that, *all* later
relationships, even with Natalie, must seem briefly fickle, especially since
the break-up with Janette was never *his* idea.
But, of course, today he *wants* to be wedded to Natalie (and the
humanity she represents). Any return to Janette betrays this new loyalty
(as well as betraying his quest for humanity).

But, as Tim says, Janette has withdrawn from him the option of resuming
their relationship. And especially, she withdrew it from him after Season
II, since she left Toronto and the show. That considerably simplified
Nick's loyalties in love. When she left, she took with her this extra level
of complexity in the FK relationships.

That would make for some interesting tales if one of Nicks past lovers were
brought across without his knowledge and was added into the mix.
Talk about Nicks guilt complex. Poor Nick, so guilt ridden for such a
gallent knight.

Subject: Fanfic Challenge - Medieval floral codes

I'm putting out a fic challenge for all the talented writers here.

There's only one requirement to this challenge: that it contain an element
from the medieval floral codes. After all, Lacroix, Nick, and Janette, as
well as other characters are all old enough to have used such things.

It could be used as clues in a crime scene, after all, the information is
easy enough to find (though the plants may not be), gifts between the
characters, etc. There are tons of ideas.

I would ask though, that the interpretations for the flowers be included at
the end of the story.

I look forward to seeing the results.
