Subject: My .02 Canadian on the best time to visit Toronto

Greetings all,

Speaking as someone who has lived here in Toronto for my entire life except
for six and a half years, I'd like to suggest that unless you're from
Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard, Siberia, northern Alaska or some similar
climate type colder than Toronto (such as, for instance, the northern plains
of the USA), you really, really want to visit in the summer. Janet really
nailed it on that particular point.

Now if you're one of those folks who absolutely loves fall colours, come in
the mid autumn. It's already starting to get a little chilly by mid
October - early November (sometimes earlier, sometimes later), so bring
something warm (or very warm if you're from the southern states), but the
colours - especially in suburban cottage country - are very pretty.

But in any case....if you're planning a visit to Toronto and would like a
free-of-charge tour of everyone's favourite show's (guess :-) ) filming
sites and a dinner with local fans, I've been doing it since 1994, so by all
means feel free to drop me a line to say hello. I'm starting to feel as
though I need a slogan of some sort. Will's FK Tours, Making Fans Happy
Since 1994 and Always Free of Charge. Okay, back to the drawing board.

Will

If you're talking about weather the best time to visit Toronto is late
September and early October. You will have the benefit seeing the changing
colours of the leaves with moderate to warm temperatures. Early
September can be quite hot, (although it cools down at nights more than it
did in August) making it difficult to know what to wear.

As a rule Toronto doesn't have much of a spring. More often than not we
tend to go right from Winter into summer. I still remember the year that we
went from snow on the ground to 70 degree weather in the course of three
days. ( April into May)

Summers can be either hot or moderate. Last year the temperature stayed
primarily in the 70's. Other years it's been in the high eighties to
nineties. It is really just the luck of the draw.

And us folks from Western Canada tend to find Toronto summers dangerously hot
and muggy :-)
But not everyone lives in a semi-arid climate several degrees further north of
the Centre of the Universe (TM).

Yeah, it is pretty funny to hear folks call 80-90 degrees hot. Here we call
that Spring!
Call me dumb but hubby and I are looking to move to the Norteast. We are
tired of the heat.
Anybody know where I can get a warehouse loft overlooking the TO skyline
cheap? ;)
Yours where its hot, Debbi

In my Intercultural Communication class yesterday the professor put in a tape
to illustrate Hofstede's five dimensions of culture, among other things. The
tape was "Smoke Signals" and had Gary Farmer (Captain Joe Stonetree) playing
a quite major role.

This definitely qualifies as one of those "You know you have been spending
too much time thinking about FK when..." moments.

I was watching CSI this morning. Grissom found Eric looking through a
lingerie catalog for voluptuous females as they were discussing the current
case. Eric asked Grissom what "does it" for him, and my warped brain
immediately responded with plaid skirts and knees highs.

I'm in a similer class
We saw it a few weeks ago

One thing I noticed was it had almost FK style flashbacks
Except FK had that little Music/sound (I don't know what to call it, a
chime I guess) at the begining to siginal the begining of a flashback

In "Smoke Signals" it took a few seconds to figgure out
it had jumped back or forth in time
This isn't a complaint, just an osveration

I still liked the movie
Especally the song about John wayne's teeth

I am in the process of looking for another job - probably another position in
the same company. And a friend of mine has been sending me job openings.
Anyhoo, on the most recent list he sent me, one of the managers name was Nancy
Kaminski.
I doubt it is 'our' Nancy - I am in NJ and I had thought she was elsewhere in
the country, but it was strange to see the name out of the context that I am
used to seeing it.

Oh, no! Someone's using my name!!

No, it's not me. I *am* from New Jersey originally, but have been in Minnesota
for lo these many years. And i'm not a manager (even though I am a technical
writing department of one, so I guess you could say I manage myself <g>).

I'm sure this NK is a wonderful manager. I'd try to work for her if I were you.
