Just browsing good old eBay's UK site, and discovered that Oxfam has a novel
called "Pompeii" up for sale - made my day!

And if anyone wants to have a look at it, here's the addy:

Subject: Re: FK Memes

I tried them with different versions of my name, then picked my favorites. (I
cheat, so sue me!)
For those confused, my full name is Megan Hull Thatcher (Hull being a middle
rather than maiden name)

#1
Name: Megan Hull
Gender: Female
Master: Nick Knight (No arguements here.)
Mortal Enemy: Joe Reese (go water-cooler! go water-cooler!)
Lover: Javier Vachon. (WOO-HOO!)
Hangout: Precinct (probably, but only if I could bring a book for when it gets
boring.)
Choice of Blood: Cow. Drinking human blood is evil! (One could argue that
while the Old Testement expressly forbids the drinking of animal blood, it doesn't
say anything about human <eg>)
Greatest Desire: Be independent. No strings on me! (Except for when the
special effects department runs out of cash)

#2
Name: Meg Thatcher
Age: 24
Vampire Match: Janette DuCharme (She'd faint at the sight of my closet. :P)
Best Friend: Richard Lambert
Favorite thing to do: Have a drink at the Raven with LaCroix (Only if Katie
were there to protect me!!!)
Favorite time of the day: Sunrise. (I do love sunrise, it's a wonderful way to
end a long shift.)
You'd like to spend more time with : Schanke (Only if he's buying lunch!)
Your favorite hobby is: Painting. (Only if you stick the word 'finger' in
there)
Favorite City: San Francisco. (Nope, little south of there.)
Favorite place in Toronto: Eaton Centre
You would make a great: Homicide detective. (Actually, I'm aiming for the FBI)
You are most like: LaCroix. (I know a few people who would agree with that)

          -Megan

That's a fun novel---not only will you learn about Pompeii, you'll get
a crash course in civil engineering and aquaduct maintenance!

It was the prize for one of the KtK competitions last August, too. I
hope the winner enjoyed a good read!

You mean like the "I'm hung over, Vesuvius is erupting, and my daughter
just turned out to be a vampire! Oh, great, now she's biting me. . ." kind
of day, or the, "I just got blown up trying to help someone, and now I've
woken up in the morgue with some strange but cute coroner lady, who now
knows way too much about vampires!" kind of day?

Shenandora asked:

watch/have those scenes?

Tim Phillips answered:
 >If I have a choice between anything and an unrated director's cut, I
always want the unrated version.
 >I prefer the "uncensored" version because it generally is what the
artists (director, writer, actors) had thought was the "correct way"

I usually would subscribe to Tim's opinion, but not in this case. This
was obviously not a director's "vision" but a sleezy way to attract a
certain late-night audience.
Knowing what to expect when turning on the TV here after 11pm, I know
what kind of audience they were aiming at with increased nudity and
violence. It was not intended to add to the story or give depth to
characters (as most director's cut versions do) but simply to "spice it
up " a bit. No thanks.
And what happens when TV execs think they need to spice something up, ...

(who vividly remembers the gawdawful telephone sex adds that ran in the
FK commercial breaks - *shudder*)
