Subject: "what if" relationships

I wonder if fans of a romantic relationship between Nick and Nat are
likely to also be fans of the Buffy-Angel romance on Buffy the Vampire
Slayer?

I know there are UFfers who see Nick and Lacroix in a (dare I say,
merely) romantic relationship, but personally I've always thought it
more complicated than that; in fact, sorta kinda like the Buffy-Spike
relationship (with more brains and age in the peroxided general than
the Slayer slayer, fer sure).

Given that none of the relationships in the Buffyverse ended well, I
wonder which FK characters might match up (albeit temporarily) with
Buffyverse characters? (And, yes, I highly approve of Joss Whedon's
treating "romance" as just so much pottery to be broken as loudly as
possible <g>.)

Just wondering.

Best,

I may be the exception to that :) I never liked Nick/Nat, but I adored
Buffy/Angel. I guess I'm just contrary <g> Now Nat/LaCroix....Hmmm...

I suppose I was more of a Janette/Nick fan, though not in any strong sort
of way. More of a "if I'm forced to choose" sort of way.

What an intriguing question! Let's see...

Natalie and...Giles. Yes, Giles. A mature guy with lots of low-key sex
appeal and a semi-dangerous past. They could research stuff together.
If you get my drift. <g>

Schanke and Anya. Two compulsive people (Schanke with food, and Anya
with money). They could have really neat arguments and Anya could
fulfill every single one of Schanke's little fantasies. Heck, she'd
probably even wear a plaid skirt for him.

Nick and Joyce! She's the epitome of humanity, a really nice woman,
very pretty, and best of all, suffering from a fatal disease. Plenty
of room for that misery and angst Nick loves so much.

Lacroix and Spike. It'd be the battle of the peroxide blonds! And
Spike would be annoying and he'd keep trying to kill Lacroix, and
there would be lots of really fun fighting and yelling, and really
creative insults.

Janette and Zander. She could spiff him up and make him her toyboy,
and then drop him when she got tired of him and then he could go cry
on Tracy's shoulder and then *they* could be a couple together, each
having that terrible "my boy/girlfriend was a vampire" secret that
they keep almost telling each other about but never do.

Where's Buffy in all this? Well, I don't see her matching up with
anyone...oh, wait, Vachon! Another bad boy, but he's too lazy to be
into rough sex. She could have her decorative vampire with a lot less
wear-and-tear!

Willow? Hmm, I don't see any FK person matching up with her. So let's
let her go back to her first love, Oz. I always liked that werewolf.
:-)

He absolutely loves it! He's said so and really does appreciate all the
warm wishes folks have been sending his way, especially these past few, very
difficult months.

How true!

I also want to say that he sometimes will ask me (and I'm sure Bonnie as
well) about who did such and such - and it is almost always something simple,
creative, and done by a fan such as a picture, funny poem, and so forth.

He has also mentioned several times to the both of us how great fandom has
been since his surgery last year. The last time I heard from him, he was slowly
returning to work and improving by the hour.

You just can't keep a ratsie sort o' droog down <wRPg>

I like most of Nancy's suggestions. I had a hard time coming up with
somebody for Schanke. He and Anya would be most amusing. And I like
Nick and Joyce!

As for Janette, I'm not sure she'd deign to turn Xander into a boy
toy. Might she check out Angel? Or Wesley? Or ... decide to teach
Willow how to dress properly <g>?

LOL. Yeah, I can't really find a suitable suitor for Buffy in TO.

Oh, oh, but I've just had the most happy thought: Clem and Screed!
Clem and Screed!

And Riley would enjoy Alma's cold embrace!!

I think Angel is way too boring and earnest for Janette. I like her
and Wesley, though. And yes, Willow would be a huge project for
her---one look at those Hello Kitty overalls and she'd know she had a
mission in life.

I was thinking that Screed might get along with that chick that was
turned into a rat for a season---she could certainly give him insights
into his dinner!

Yeah, it would be like two robots together. <g>

Hmmm...

Screed and Harmony (from season 5). After all, opposites attract! But they'd be
forever arguing about the interior decorating.

Capt. Cohen and Principal Wood--just a little one-nighter that they could then
angst about later. "How could I!"

Schanke and Laila (from Wolfram & Hart)--she'd use him to find out everything
he knew about vampires, and then discard him like a used Kleenex. He'd return
to Toronto feeling both sexually satisfied and emotionally wracked over his
infidelity. And with some more questions about his mysterious partner.

Tracy and Willow. Isn't it obvious?

Vachon and Harmony--once she breaks up with Screed, of course. She'd love the
fact that he's a musician. He'd be ready to stake her in a week.

Janette and Giles. Eternally.

Nick and Wesley. But they'd just be good friends--until the angsty crusading
vibes got to be too much.

Nick and Faith. They can agonize over past misdeeds together. Then Nick can
take her back to prison.

Miklos and Cordelia. Both of them are pretty, both of them are tougher than
you'd think.

Your humble & obedient servant,
Angela Gottfred

I typed in "forkni-l" but my office's ISP addy. That's one I really hope

WOuld you believe I named one of my cats Clem (in honor of Clem's former
favorite snack - kittens... He gave them up due to the cholesterol)? Anyway,
yep, I can see that.

Or Screed and Dru - can you imagine their conversations? Could ANYONE
understand what they were talking about? Would they be able to understand each
other?

I could see Spike with Janette, although it might be something of a stormy
relationshiop. However, Spike knows how to treat a lady like a lady when it
suits him, and he seems to respect strong women (Joyce, Buffy, Dru). In fact, he
seems to relate better to women in the BtVS universe than he does men. Spike
might consider Jeanette a bit too "high class, frilly cuff and collar," though
I think he'd come around.

multple copies of the Forkni-l rules post for today. Then they sent me two
messages rejecting two more attempted sendings as having been previously posted.

Last night I saw a plate on the back of a car that read "NDB," Nick's
original initials. And this afternoon at the same intersection, one had "790"
and "NLJ," for 79 AD, and Nick-LaCroix-Janette.

Poor Nick: can you just see him, getting grief from LaCroix on one
side, and Faith on the other? He'd be the one willing to escape them
both by getting locked up <g>.
