I always thought that was a case of finger memory. That's when you a
piece of music memorized well enough to play but when you make a
mistake you realize you can't just pick it up where you left off like a
real musician can . Instead you have to go back to the beginning and start
all over again. A real musician understands the music he's playing.
You haven't really learned it. All you've done is teach your fingers
how to get through it.
Nick might have been able learn how to play the violin by draining a
muscian but I doubt if he could pick up all the nuances of the musician's
knowledge of music simply from his blood. Therefore his new found ability
to play the violin would be more finger memory than actual talent which is
why it can't last.
There have been many cases where a child prodigy decides to go
back to the beginning and start learning music and musical theory just
so he or she can understand what the gift they have.

I can see most vamps thinking new technology is pretty nifty, especially the
stuff like online shopping that lets them get around a lot of the restrictions of
not being able to go out in the daylight. The one thing that's crossed my mind
several times is that I would imagine that any vampire over the age of 50 would
find the our all-consuming addiction to television completely incomprehensible.
Heck, *I* find it pretty incomprehensible, but I grew up in a house without
cable.

Hey all,
I'm going to be mailing a package to Greg Kramer around the 19th of February.
If anyone wants to include something *small* -- a letter, funny card,
knickknack, token of your esteem, etc. -- email me off-line and I'll give
you my address.

When I saw the headline, "UC Considers Using Barcodes for Cadavers,"
I couldn't help but think of FK and wonder what might happen if our
vamps were mistakenly barcoded. On the bright side, Natalie would be
able to keep track of Nick.

Greg's birthday is coming up in March, so this is a great time to send him a
little something. Hisselfishness really enjoys the attention, me thinks.
