The show did say that about an hour (could have been less) after the eruption
started that the sun was blacked out due to the column of ash that had risen.
SInce the sun was blocked out it wouldn't matter what time or where it was when
Divia woke the General up. She would still have been safe.

world is a bit wonky still. I'll shut up now. :-P)

As for the fact that it should be noon when the main erruption starts, poor
Lucius seems to be so thoroughly hungover when Divia wakes him that I have little
doubt that he has been passed out for hours. There's some kind of roof over the
couch he's lying on, isn't there? So Divia isn't in direct sunlight and we know
from the events in Toronto during Ashes to Ashes that she's a particularly
strong kind of vampire. It could easily be noon. No doubt they didn't leave the
villa until after dark.

or it could also be a YKYBWTMFK...

I am getting my new car tomorrow (thanks to everyone who sent emails
following the accident, I really appreciate it)

Anyhoo.. the new car is a 2005 Honda Civic. I am getting it in
black, but got a big smile when I saw the name of the color -
"Nighthawk Black Pearl". Sounds like the name of Janette's new club
or something.

Well, I thought it was cool. :)

...you're watching Henry V for the first time in years (Branagh version), and
you notice the French King issuing orders to the Duke of Brabant.

Act 2, Scene 4: The French king orders the Duke of Brabant (amongst sundry
other dukes etc.) to defend France after Henry V lands at Calais.

Act 3, Scene 5: The Duke of Brabant (amongst sundry other dukes etc.) is
ordered by the French king to "Bar Harry England" after the defeat of Harfleur.

Act 4, Scene 8: Anthony Duke of Brabant is amongst the dead French nobles
killed at Agincourt and listed off by Henry V.

Keeping in mind an earlier comment (that when Nick said "Battle of Hastings",
he probably *meant* "Battle of Agincourt)--who's up for an FK/H5 crossover?
(I'm pretty sure that Shakespeare's plays are in the public domain!)

Hmm, that scene where Harry goes around incognito before the battle to
see what the men are saying about their king...I wonder if he might
have encountered Nick near one of those campfires?

Now that would be interesting!

Subject: Re: FK Vampire Sleep & **Thank You** (Was: Virtual Season 4 Help
Again, Please?)

Good Morning!

See below re: FK Vampire Sleep :-)=

I am smiling, yup, because <<waves!!>> I got my Virtual Season 4 back (thankyou
thankyouthankyou) and I am about to write it to CD-R, which is *almost* as
good as having it on DVD, LOL. I couldn't be happier about it, and, as I said
I would be, I am indeed Forever Grateful!

Speaking of the DVD's, I have *finally* made it to disc 5; I say finally b/c
I keep falling asleep (have not made it through a disc 5 ep yet, though, LOL);
I think looking for a job is harder work than having a job!

Miracles of miracles, *completely* wiped out hard drive or no <g>, I retrieved
the versions of my resumes <whew> I need(ed) the most by digging deep into
my "sent" mail, as well as type references lists, cover letters, etc., once I
stopped panicking and started thinking a little more clearly! Even found a
CD-R with two (longer, unpolished, etc.) not-quite-finished (as I will have to
compare it to what I have printed, the one hard copy, and can recreate on
computer, if I really want to <ugh, but doable>) versions of my Master's Thesis,
WOOHOO! No such luck with Dissertation <sigh> or any of the hundreds of
documents supporting research, so, can't create those; ah, such is life (have
the hard copy, yes, some stuff is missing from it, won't bore you with it, bored
you enough already, <VBG>!)

Had a dream last night (didn't sleep the night before, wonder why, LOL);
LaCroix telling me that "Immortals do not bother themselves with such mortal
folly...." Not sure why, but it made me feel better somehow :-)

I guess (from a Jungian standpoint, and he is one of my favorites), what I
was probably trying to tell myself was: "Hey: the stuff is gone, you have a
hard copy of it, you have the degrees, and it's not like anyone is ever going to
ASK to see your research; deal with it."

Still, I like how LaCroix put it in the dream, better; it was actually longer
and more involved than that, but I think you get the idea.

Also helped me get through a **four hour** (no, I did not mistype) interview
yesterday, and then an hour and a half telephone interview immediately
following, on zero sleep.

Someone (if you want to) answer me this please? I am certain it has been
discussed before and I am not the first person to ask. I just don't recall the
discussion. And, now, I don't remember, or am not understanding re FK, even
though I have been watching closely. It seems to me that Forever Knight
vampires can go without sleep? I know in the Anne Rice universe the can if they
have to, same in the Buffy Universe, but in both of those it starts to wear on
them after a while (Lestat went long periods without sleep, **IIRC,** but then
went through very long periods of, for lack of a better word, hibernation, for
his own reasons). I discuss these other Vampire Universes/Canons for basis of
comparison only!

Is it the same/similar in Forever Knight? It *seems* like it; but I have
only just begun watching it with intensity recently. I'd appreciate any
discussion, if the topic interests anyone?

And, I have had a lot of sleep deprivation myself lately, LOL, what with
trying to recreate computers and documents!

Thanks again re: Virtual Season Four, and a great day to all.

Forever Yours,
Billie-Lee

*dubiously* I had a history professor who enjoyed taking History Channel
'documentaries' and pointing out each and every inaccuracy (many of them major). I
don't have much trust in the HC anymore.

Condemning an entire cable tv channel because of mistakes inaccuracy in
programs that were inaccurate due to writers, producers, etc. who may or may not have
been officially affiliated with the History Channel, is like condemning an
entire television series because of your least favorite episode of Forever KNight.

One historian could easily pick apart the work of another historian claiming
inaccuracies because the only people who really know what went on is those who
lived it - and even in their cases often they don't really know what is happening
(think of those who died in Pompeii before volcanoes were understood ... some
thought the gods were seeking vengeance)

That's what makes writing FK flashbacks so much fun. You can tweak a little
here and there, and stay within the realm of possibility such as a Roman general
becoming a vampire and escaping Pompeii as the ash and clouds blotted out the
sun. Even in the FK universe, a history professor might scuff at such an idea!

But LaCroix is much older and more powerful than any history professor. Come to
think of it, that might make a good fanfic challenge, huh?

These scholars (and at least they had some degrees to back up their theories)
were offering *their theory* of what happened at Agincourt, based on modern
archaeological techniques. For instance, they demonstrated that long bows could not
penetrate steel armor plate by using an instrument to shoot an arrow made in
the same way as the English arrows were at a piece of armor plate with the same
properties as the armor of the time. The arrow point turned to mush.

Of course, the next night I watched another program on the development of armor
that seemed to imply that longbow arrows *could* penetrate steel plate. Who to
believe? Maybe neither.

But the Agincourt program offered some interesting and seemingly plausible
theories without the embellishment, pseudo-science and wild speculations you
see in a lot of these programs.

I must say that, despite some melodramatic bits (Will Fortunata find her husband?
Will Stephanato retrieve his gold and escape certain death? Tune in tomorrow
for "Days of our (Roman) Lives!") the Pompeii special was much better than
most of its ilk. I found the recreations of Pompeiian life to be very convincing,
and they quoted the actual witnesses to the event (mostly Pliny the Younger).
I watch a lot of these historical/archaeological shows since I have a huge
interest in the subject, and have become pretty sensitive to the "please the
crowd with breathless and spectacular speculation without any scientific basis"
types.

Anyway, these two shows were pretty good. I'll be interested to see what
Archaeology magazine says----they often publish a column about bad science on
TV and cite shows that are huge offenders.

Can you say "Mummy Autopsy?" <g>
