Oh!!! Oh!! I just saw this!!! We used to have this sitting cow teddy bear that
would moo when you squeezed its hoof...then it started shanking like a mad
thing laughing and moo-ing....can't you just see him snuggling it in bed and
setting the ruddy thing off!!!! ohhh priceless!!!

Okay, y'all. I just bought a new computer on eeekbay,
because this one is old and poopy. I was looking at
it today and I realized that it's an angry vampire!
It's got red eyes and fangs! Think LaCroix bit it and
made it mad?

A fanged and eyed computer? Maybe my gray matter
is still stuck on war mode, but I have a hard time
visualizing it. Pretty please with a cherry on top
describe this to us.

Going on the Build a Bear string (wink to Chanda), maybe Nat could get Nick a
bear with fur the same color as her hair, dressed in scrubs or a smaller
version of her gown from BMV? Or for a more "serious" gift, a photo album with
pictures of her childhood? Surely there was a Halloween that she dressed as a
medieval princess...

Hey, Amanda, are you aware that you're one of the inspirations for some of

Sad to say... Build A Bear doesn't exactly carry goth stuff. :)
Neither do many toy stores in their doll clothes section.
I wonder why? <eg>

I think she should make with her own hands, or if she's not handy
enough, maybe have made, a replica of some toy Nick might've had as a child
way back in Medieval times. Nostalgic objects from one's childhood are
always good-- I love going into toy stores and seeing Strawberry Shortcake,
My Little Pony, Care Bears, He-Man, Ninja Turtles, and all those other toys
that were popular during my childhood!

That is an awesome idea!! I can picture the moment of surprise and
silence when he opens it. Like how strongly he was driven to have
the harp since it was from "before".

I am loving all of the ideas! Thanks everyone! I am looking for something
serious/sentimental that Nat might get Nick (though some of your sillier ideas
have been great, too!). Along those lines, I like the idea of something from
Nick's childhood... only one question: what did kids play with in Medieval times?
My kids have toys up the wazoo, and they constantly complain that they don't
have anything to do~ and they have WAY more stuff than I did as a kid, and
compared to the thirteenth century, I was wealthy! We 'made up' a lot of our
toys, growing up. We used things like chairs and old bedsheets or blankets, and
rocks and sticks... and our imaginations!
Thanks again for all the great ideas! Keep them coming!

Oooh! Like a whip top--hardly anybody today knows how to play with it, but
they're still available if you look.(

For boys (especially in a household such as Nick would have grown up
in) most of the toys would have been military in nature. Like wooden
swords and shields, pewter army figures, and such things.

I just recently read an article online (forget where) about a find in
the Thames River of things like miniature cannons, and cauldrons and
such. From what the scientists have surmised... these cannons really
worked!

They also had other wooden toys, such as hoops and balls.

Bear in mind that, when Nick was a child, there were no firearms, so no toy
cannons for him. A google search on "medieval toys" brought up a lot of
information.

Nick's childhood predates cannons. But a working miniature cannon is still a
really cool "guy thing".

In the vein of medieval weaponry...I know what *I'd*
get Nick: a DVD of Kenneth Branagh's version of Shakespeare's
'Henry V'. History and great drama and angst too!
(Henry betrayed by his closest friends, and Henry's
soliloquiy on the eve of the battle of Agincourt)

Do not meddle in the affairs of vampires, for you are a

Subject: Re: Geminis: When? And is anyone taping?

November 23, 2004

The problem with taping the Geminis is that the award ceremony is actually
held on three sequential nights, and sometimes the first two shows aren't
telecast. And they don't hold the "big" awards all on the same night, so
there's no
guarantee that Catherine's award will be given out on the third night, which
is the one that *does* consistently get telecast. In previous years a local
community channel has telecast the first two nights, but they didn't last year,
and I don't know if they will this year either. But I'll be taping whatever
is shown.

Tape trees usually break down fairly close to the time they start up, so I
won't be part of one. But if anyone wants a copy of the show just write to me
personally and I can make you one.
