It's a good thing I wasn't planning on playing in the war, since
politicking is awfully important to me.

Don and I send good wishes to everyone affected by the hurricanes in Florida
-- which includes Don -- and the flooding in Virginia and anything else I
may have missed in the news.

Coming out of luckdom,

My home in Fla and the little town I live in was right in the middle of the
eye of Frances. The wind and rain were the main problem. Especially the
rain. My area is the water shed for Tampa [known as the Green Swamp} so we
get a lot of flooding during rain storms. We just about got cleaned up from
Charlie and now we've got Frances to clean up after. We should have just
about enough time to get a little of it done before Ivan hits.
My heart and best wishes go out to all the other list members in the path of
this season's storms. Toronto never had weather like this. Schanke surley
would have left Toronto if he had to content with hurricane in addition to
the Toronto winters.

This is just a quick shout-out to the lovely lady I found in the Peachtree
Center wearing a list T-shirt who promptly got pointed at by a certain
list founder who was tickled pink at seeing one of the old list shirts at
Dragon*Con!

(McLisa, we should get more of them printed up... and maybe with the
correct address on them!)

And if anyone else of y'all was at Dragon*Con, and you saw an elfin Jedi
in the Hyatt lobby wearing a dark blue cloak with a phoenix on the back,
that was me!

Well, "lovely" is being rather too kind! However, I was both thrilled
and flabbergasted to have THE LIST FOUNDER recognize the shirt and
introduce herself! It's funny that we weren't even on the conference
grounds at the time.

The shirt was doubly useful: Another friend, a local FK fan I haven't
seen in over three years, recognized the shirt at a con session
(before she recognized ME, thankyouverymuch) and cornered me in the
hallway, so I was able to renew THAT acquaintance, all thanks to
being properly dressed!

Moral of the story: Wear your shirt. Wear it a lot. Wear it
everywhere. You never know what could happen!

P.S. Phoenix, you comin' back next year?

I wish I had known people from this list were going! I went, too. I was the
goth walking around in a "Love Sucks" tee, and a "bite me" tee.

Is this legit? I don't remember doing this in the past. I know people will
change one small thing to get you to respond to something that looks
familiar, just to collect email addy's.

Yes, it's legit although I understand and applaud your caution. The listserv
software does this at intervals so that if a subscription has been left running
by someone who has forgotten it, the subscription can be removed.

Hi there, Jean

If you could send me a pic of this shirt I most likely could reproduced it
for anyone on the list. I didn't know we had a shirt at one time.

Erm ... isn't there a west-coast iteration of LCA happening around October
22nd?

Some of the heartiest FK fans might have to miss a War around that time.

Actually that's just the earliest. Don't worry; there will be plenty of
discussion and negotiation before a time is actually set. The idea is to make sure
that everyone who wants to play is able to if at all possible. That includes
allowing for things like LCA.

McLisa, who may be a bit less than hitting on all cylinders for a while. My
best friend since the 7th grade died Monday. It was expected but it still takes
some getting used to.

I remember when I first joined there was an iron-on you could get (it
was a do it yourself shirt thing). It was one of those "All I Need
to Know I Learned from..." ideas.
I have a copy of it on my old site
http://debrabantfoundation.tripod.com/needtoknow.html

It might need to be updated since it is kind of an inside joke idea
and even I (been on the list since about 96 or so) don't get some of
it.
This was the only "list" shirt I have ever been aware of.
