I found LaCroix was alot closer to Nicholas than Janette. It would Nicholas
and Janette that could read each others thoughts considering they fed off
each other when needed. LaCroix and Janette weren't that close.

Hmmm....you know, in thinking about it, I'm not sure the dynamics between LC,
Nick and Janette can be best described in terms of "closeness". The way I
see it, Janette was the "obedient" child and really never required much of LC's
attention. Still, LC was able to tell when she was hiding something,
particularly since the things she tended to hide were about Nick.

On the other hand, as the "disobedient" child, Nick was a constant "worry" for
LC, and LC had to spend much more of his time watching over Nick making sure
Nick did the "right" thing. And/or convincing Nick of what the "right" thing
was. Reading Nick was probably easy for LC.

If there was some telepathic link

Did LC have the same link with
Divia when she brought him over?

How much of it was telepathy
& how much was a parent knowing the child

Sometimes being a good parent means
being able to sence when your child is in pain
or about to do something wrong
(Parental 6th sence)

You feel a tremmer in the force

 . . . . Oh wait - wrong show

This is a totally unfair assumption. Forever Knight
was about Nick and his life/relationships with other
people, we only see snippets of the lives of the
people around him. For all we know, Natalie might
occasionally date, Lacroix could have other children
that he dotes on from time to time, etc. Even in the
microscope of the series, it was implied that months
would go by that Nick never even set foot in the
Raven, and there was an entire year that no one saw
hide nor hair of Lacroix, can we really assume that he
was licking his wounds all and obsessing about Nick
all that time? I think Nick is extremely important to
Lacroix, but we cannot really assess the whole person
by the one side that we have been shown.

I found with Divia it was the hatred he sensed because that's the strongest
emotion next to love.

Does anyone know what happened to fkfanfic.com again? Last year Mel let
the domain name lapse, but this isn't the case this time. It isn't due
to be reregistered until October, but it doesn't seem to exist......again.

The last time this happened I emailed the ISP that hosts it and they
wouldn't tell me anything.

I tried just now and it came up fine. <shrug> Must have been some kind of
temporary glitch.

I've always figured it was empathic, and that any deliberate 'communication'
that went on was kind of the mental equivalent of emoticons. <G> You can
express some pretty comlex emotions and concepts in an emoticon, expecially if the
other person already knows what you're talking about, but only in general terms.
Specifics and details would be nearly impossible.

Probably-- people can do that with a lot less experience than LaCroix has! We
all know people who can finish each other's sentences.

That's what I meant. LC knew what they were thinking from the experience of
having lived with the two of them for several hundreds of years. People can't
usually finish the sentences of another unless they've lived with that person
for a while. :-)

Is there another, seperate list for V4S or is that a setting that I seem to
have turned off on FKFIC-L?

Has anyone noticed the similarities between Tanya
Huff's Vicki Nelson vampire books and FK? Has anyone
read any interviews with writers or authors suggesting
that one inspired the other?

I guess the scene that got me really thinking was when
Vicki was in jail with two characters named "Natalie"
and the other one's last name was "Lambert." I DON'T
believe in coincidence...

Especially since her latest "Smoke and Shadows" takes place on the set of
a vampire detective TV show "Darkest Night". She claimed to have gotten the
idea on Nero Wolfe though.

It looks like they're making a serious attempt to get
it off the ground. There's a web site which includes
links so you can petition your local cable channel to
pick up the network. Here's the link to the main page:

http://www.horrorchannel.com/

I'd love to see this happen. Not only for FK, but also
for Poltergeist, Friday the 13th, and a lot of other
horror TV shows that've pretty much disappeared.

The actual stories were posted on Fkfic-l and yes, it is a topic there.
However, it's been several years since any were posted. Comment was originally
intended to go to Fkv4s-l. When we stopped getting the v4s stories on Fkfic-l, people
stopped commenting on Fkv4s.

If anyone wants to comment to me offlist about whether or not we should take
the v4s talk to FKv4s, or leave it on Forkni-l, I'm open to suggestions.

Canada has had a channel with a similar idea, at least available on
satellite for a few years now, but Forever Knight is still only found on our
science fiction station: Space (http://www.spacecast.com/). Our horror
