Subject: Re: Question for fic

I was wondering how to explain the QC (Queen's Counsel) designation that some
Canadian lawyers have, since I heard that it was mainly current & former Crown
prosecutors that got QCs (e.g. Jane Lawyer, Q.C.), when I came across this
great article on the differences between Canadian and U.S. courtrooms.

An American Visitor to a Canadian Court
http://www.ontariocourts.on.ca/ojen/court&class/resources/articles/american.htm

BTW, Crown prosecutors are often referred to in the media (and presumably by
police) as "crowns" for short, as in "crown Jane Lawyer announced that the
province has stayed all charges against the accused." The term Crown also
applies to other things in Canada, such as Crown land (land owned by the
federal or provincial government).

Here's another website that focuses more on the differences between a D.A. and
a Crown Prosecutor:

This is not American Television: US versus Canadian systems

Hope this helps. And thanks for asking the question--I learned stuff today!

Your humble & obedient servant,
Angela Gottfred

I want to thank everyone for the well wishes that i have been receiving--for
my mom and for my recent birthday. There's been too many e-mails to
personally reply to all of them :) My mom is also an FK fan and she has been
enjoying the e-mails from everyone.
