Nick does some sleight of hand in one ep and says that he worked in a
circus once.

Subject: BAD NEWS

Hi friends.

I have some very bad news regarding one of our friends...

Marci Cheeseman, who was a wonderful friend and a prolific writer, passed
away at home a couple of hours ago.

I was just speaking with her husband and son in the IRC chatroom that we
usually chat in each night, and her son David & husband Don came in and said
they had bad news. Seems they left to go out for dinner about 730pm central
Got about 3/4 mile down the road, and Marci said she felt horrible and
wanted to go home to lay down. Don asked if she wanted to go to the
hospital but she said no, she'd be fine if she layed down a while. She did,
and Don went in to check on her about 8pm, and couldn't wake her. He saw
her eyes and touched her hand and it was getting cold. He attempted to
recessutate her while thair son called an ambulance. They tried to revive
her as well, but to no avail. as I write this, they are awaiting the
coroner.

Please please please keep Don & David Cheeseman in your thoughts and prayers
at this time.

HUGS

Sorry about the blank message (maybe psu will filter it)....

I'm sitting here in absolute shock and sorrow to hear of the passing of
Marci. We've lost a fanfic writer, fellow FK fan, and a friend.

My heart and prayers go out to her family and real life friends.

I am deeply sadden with her passing. All my thoughts and prayers go to her and
her family. Be strong and know your friends are here to listen. My
girlfriend's son passed away 3/4 from Lorenzo's Oil, so it is hard. Stay safe.

I was playing a classic PC game called Discworld Noir, which is loosely
based off the Terry Pratchett novels. Anyway, there's a vampire playing
the piano in the Cafe Ankh bar. I couldn't help but think of Nick.

Subject: Memories of Marci

I was just able to verify with someone that I had, indeed, met Marci at a
convention in Texas. I wanted to share my memories of this wonderful woman.

She was very friendly and we chatted about fanfic quite a lot that weekend.
She smiled easily, and I remember like many FK fans, she was concerned I wasn't
eating that weekend (I have minor diabetes and the rallying cry at many FK
gatherings seems to be "Libs, have you eaten yet.")<g>

She talked about her family, I remember that, so I'm glad she was with them
at the time she left this life.

Life is very precious, and so is friendship. Cherish both, live your life...
experience it.

I want to thank Don and McLisa for keeping this lists going for so long after
FK aired its last original episode. I'm involved in other fandoms, and was
attending science fiction conventions long before FK (or the internet, for that
matter). So I'm not exaggerating when I say we truly have a special family in
FK fandom. Because there are fans who refuse to let a television show go into
the endless night, we are still here, still friends, and still making new
memories.

A toast to the memory of Marci!

Uhr, Screed, a toast with a glass... not a half drained rat.

(I think Marci would have laughed at that!)

Marci was -- how can she be "was?"; it feels so unreal! -- a loved, long time
member of FK fandom and the lists in particular! We'll miss her very much.
Micki, can you please pass on our sympathy to her family on behalf of the list?

I just don't have the heart to send out rules when we're grieving for Marci on
both lists. If mistakes get made during the week, I'll either overlook them or
go very, very easy offlist. In the mean time, let's all remember how precious
and fleeting life is, and hold Marci and her family in our hearts, in whatever
way our traditions recommend.

I'm sure Don feels the same way I do, which is that the lists are a special
place and worth every minute of administration. For me, at least, it's like
helping at a family gathering.

We certainly are. I didn't have any pre-FK fandom experience, but I've seen and
heard a lot about the others. We seem to be an unusual bunch -- even our
factions are joking only.

And that, I think, is why we're a family as well as friends.

Subject: Marci memories

Hi all.

I thought I'd share something funny that I keep thinking about since Marci
passed away.

Well, I only actually met her in person once, and that was at the Toronto
NNP minicon in 2000. She and another attendee, Lisa, had come to pick me up
at the airport. I can't recall what was said now, or what exactly was so
funny, but I was laughing so hard... I'm an asthmatic, and sometimes when I
laugh really hard I wheeze in a way that sounds odd... I did, and then
Marci and Lisa were laughing hard because they were trying to figure out
where the ambulance siren they thought they could hear behind them was. It
was me! I think that whole laughing fiasco, which was so much fun, was
probably why we ended up taking a rather scenic route from the airport to
the hotel (read got lost for a bit). I think we were all laughing too hard
to follow road signs and such! But oh, did we ever have a blast. I don't
think I've had as much fun as I did that weekend.

(By the way, please, if you are on a list that Marci was involved with,
please forward the info of her passing to the other lists. I only posted to
forkni-l & NNP, & know McLisa forwarded it to the fkfic-l. But I believe
she was on at least a couple of others, and her husband does want her
online friends to know.)

I will miss Marci dearly, as she was one of my "honorary sisters"... I have
no siblings, and Marci filled that place for me.

HUGS to all,
  -Micki
