Subject: Catherine Disher on CBC last night (Sunday)

Hi, all.

Sometimes during their shows, CBC will have someone from a
CBC series come on to say something like, Stay tuned for <insert
name of show>, right after these commecials.

Well, last night much to my shock (but delighted surprise),
Catherine Disher was on from 8:00 p.m. - 10 p.m. WOOHOO!

Unlike the promos for her new show, she didn't have on glasses.
She just said stuff like Next Sunday on CBC is the East Coast
Music Awards from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and stuff like that, (for
instance, Tune in tomorrow for a special airing of "This Is Wonderland"
Monday at 8:30).

Couldn't get a really good look at her outfit, other than it was all
dark. A blue rectangle covered her most of the time, promoting
"Snakes and Ladders" Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.

Did any other Canadians manage to catch this?

I know, we need our Canadian friends to help us out! This is killing me
that I can't see Catherine. I absolutely love her acting. I would be
willing to pay someone for these tapes. From the first time I saw Catherine
on Forever Knight, I was a fan of her work.

I listened to that CBC Radio interview on Sunday, and it was a blast. This
show sounds like a real trip, and while I imagine it would be helpful to know
something about Canadian politics to truly appreciate it, I'm sure that it can
appreciated anyway. Politics is politics in any country.

I taped the CBC Radio interview (hands up, everyone who has had their radio
tuner welded to CBC Radio One--oh, just me...). Iwill try to post some quotes
from it later on. CD was very funny and vivacious--she has quite a talent for
humour, which us CBC Radio listeners are already lucky to be familiar with.
Also, I have finally been able to check my satellite schedule, and I will be
able to tape it at 6 p.m. from the CBC Toronto broadcast. I could've picked CBC
Ottawa or Montreal, but how could an FK-er resist the allure of the big T.O.?
So
somebody explain this tape tree thingy to me--off-list, if that's appropriate
(don't know anything about what it is!)

I should say right now that I only have one functional VCR--the other one
started acting up the day after the warranty expired.

P.S. One of my Boxing Day presents (to myself!) was a jigsaw puzzle of Toronto
at sunset. Very FK-ish! It's really fun to do, and a high-quality jigsaw puzzle
on thick cardboard. The finished puzzle is three feet long.

It really is! I could never have imagined a scenario in which Nat and Schanke
got together, until I read this. The author pulled it off in such a way as to
make it believable, and it left me with a kind of 'I can relate to that'
feeling. It was very well done.

Yeah, I didn't care for it either. I had read it a few years ago, and
recently read it again, and I still didn't like. I'll read stories for the
second time to see if maybe my opinion changes--IT DIDN'T!

I can't see Nat going to bed with Schanke. She would more than likely give
him a talk about the commitment of marriage, etc. No matter how frustrated
she was. If she were going to go to bed with someone, she would have found
someone else.

My opinion has nothing to do with Schanke, because I absolutely love him.
It's just that the two together would never happen.

Subject: Nat saves the Day from the Computer Demon

I lost about 15 pages of 43 in EC#9..plus I lost all the work I had done on
the edits, up to that point! I hesitated waking Bruce, my wonderful
husband, because he was exhausted and on call. Finally, I did give in and
wake him, because the man is a technical guru; he can accomplish almost
anything. He tried everything, but couldn't retrieve the work, it was gone!
Yep, Permanently Gone! No Recovery! An entire day and a half of non-stop
work lost.

I was crying and told him to pull the plug on my entire FK fan fiction site!
All of it! He was so sweet. He held me in his arms, rubbing my back, and
talking to me. This was at one in the morning. I came down stairs and was
typing a letter to send out to the fans that I would no longer be writing
anything, including my own work. I was done, defeated.

I took one look at what I had recovered, and the next sentence that was
suppose to be there, that was deleted, popped into my head. Before I knew
what happened, I was tying the sentence. I was shocked. I had come
downstairs to write the letter to announce the cancellation of all my work,
and suddenly, here was the first lost sentence appearing on my computer.

The Deb/Nat fighting team emerged! Honest! Nat asked me if I was going to
let a damn machine defeat me when we'd fought demons, and vampires. She also
told me that I couldn't stop because in Chapter Ten her and Nick are bonding
and she would fight to the death for them to be together. Well, that made me
chuckle.

I sat here and quietly listened to Nat's protests to not cancel the
projects, and all the reasons why I shouldn't stop writing. After she'd
finished with her speech. I took a deep breath and said, "Okay, girl, jump
into my head. I surrender to you completely. If you can pull this off by
morning, then we have a deal. I'll finish Emotional Concert and keeping
writing these stories for you that bring you and Nick together.

Well, I be damn, the girl did it! She pulled it off. At seven this
morning, we had finished the entire lost work. I sat here and stared at the
chapter, astonished that she'd helped accomplish the impossible.
Immediately, I started saving the chapter multiple times and sending copies
to my writing buddy, for backup. I wasn't taking any chances that 'Word'
would shut down and lock up again!

I thought I would share this with you, because it sure was an interesting
night. Is it exactly what I had written before the crash? No, not exactly.
We all know how Nat gets her own ideas. Well, she had a real doozie of one
at the end of the chapter, at Nick's expense. Poor Nick. Oh yes, her dark
humor did surface, and she enjoyed, lovingly torturing him. What did she
do? Well, you'll just have to wait and read the chapter. Now, it wouldn't
be any fun if I told you, would it?

Okay, I'm off for some much needed sleep. Nat and I deserve an afternoon
sleeping after what we accomplished. Some of you may think this entire
little tale is crazy, and I'm whacked, but the artistic people will totally
understand and relate to my Monday Night visit from the 'Computer Demon'.

Deborah A. Hymon
--aka Forever Knights Lady

P.S. That wonderful husband of mine has some ideas to avoid this happening
in the future. Looks like between the three of us, we staked the Demon! I
don't think he'll be visiting the Hymon House again!

Oops - I must have had an old version of the website cached or else it changed

Just link to "author" then "Libby Singleton" (or maybe Libby Smith Singleton -
no telling how I signed those stories).
