(snip) what would happen in the FK universe if for some reason the FK
vamps were forced to present themselves to the human community?

I think it depends on how they did so. Did they save someone, or was
someone killed and the crime revealed to all? I think if you had it
revealed in such a way that a vampire was a hero, then it wouldn't be
so bad. But if you had a murder or series of murders, then the public
would react a lot differently. I actually did a fanfic series on that
premise a while ago.

I do think there would be political factions opposed to it, just as
there might be factions for it. And what do you do when you have an
entire group of people who have basically confessed to murder, but the
crimes took place centuries ago and some of them have reformed?

I also think the whole thing would be a very serious political issue
and probably would be hotly debated for quite a while. I can see where
extremists on both sides of the political spectrum would be against
vampires, and I can definitely see things going either way.

Cool! Great to see her back on the tube, and in a fairly major role, although
I've enjoyed her turns on CBC Radio One. But what is it with TV? I haven't
watched "real" TV for ages, and now suddenly I have TWO shows to watch on
Wednesday at 8:00? Aaargh!!! Maybe I can catch one of them in a different time
zone...

Hi Y'all!

I'm a little late jumping into this thread that's already come and gone
but I kept waiting for someone else to remember the ep and post about it
before I did (because that's what usually happens).

Didn't Nick get drunk on whiskey laced with Curare in some old west
flashbacks? Wasn't that "The Code?" IIRC, LaCroix had to *rescue* Nick
from a bounty hunter who got him drunk.

argh! Two actresses I like in there and I'm in the
states! Anyone out there willing to help with tapes? I
should be able to manage postage reimbursement and
maybe tape cost.....although if it's six parts it'll
have to be SLP as I can't afford SP.

Thanks

Yeah....to humans it's deadly, but it just gets vamps
drunk, and they pass out.

Does anyone have a copy of 'A Matter of Need'? I don't remember who the
author is, but it is an adult Nat/Schanke story. If you have a copy, could you send
one to me? Thanks.

> How would our favorite FK vamps deal with humans knowing?
I think Nick and LaCroix would both oppose revealing themselves to
humanity. Neither of them have forgotten what it was like to be hunted
by humans.
>>
I agree... but Nick might play with the idea of trying to co-exist with
humans who knew about him - he's too attached to humanity, and feels too
strongly about honesty to *not* consider revealing his true nature to
those around him. [Please note I'm saying these things - humanity and
honesty - are so important to him that he wouldn't be able to avoid
considering revealing himself or living with humans knowing about him.
I'm NOT saying he's too honest or attached to humanity! Just thought I'd
clarify BEFORE I'm misunderstood. ;-)]

LaCroix, on the other hand, I think would vehemently oppose it, although
once that secret was out, he'd be rather powerless to prevent its
spread. So, yeah, destroying the vamps responsible would be a first
move, if only to vent his frustration. He would try to take control of
the vamp community and tighten up loose ends and loose tongues. He may
even want Natalie killed. BUT he'd have to wrestle with the fact that
deaths such as hers would actually make it worse for the vamps. He'd
have to reluctantly deal with the reality of people knowing about him.
it would probably mean a significant change in their lifestyle, one he'd
be unwilling to make, stubborn as he is. Think about it - no more flying
out in the open, places such as the Raven under intense scrutiny...
>>
Nick would probably end up having to be the laison between humanity and
the vampire community. Always assuming humanity didn't decide he was
ultimately more dangerous than LaCroix because he is better at hiding
what he is.
>>
That's a good bet, I think, given his prolonged contact with mortals.
But I think the chances that mortals would want to capture and study
vampires, or just immediately decided they're too dangerous to allow to
live are rather high, leading to the "war" scenario someone mentioned.
It could become rather ugly.
>>
Ultimately I'm inclined to go along with the Jarvinia's series in which
humanity does find out that there are vampires living among them.
>>
Yeah, I've thought about this quite a bit, can't you tell? But I don't
think I've read Jarvinia's series. I'll have to find them - anyone have
a link? As it is, I'm actually beta-ing a story on this subject as we
speak. can't say when it'll be done though!

Yep, that's right. I forgot about that. Although I
don't think he was drunk. I think the Curare took
over before he could become drunk.
