In Ontario flu shots are now covered for everyone. this year in particular
because of the SARS scare, they went out of their way to convince people
to get a flu shot.
In Ontario most shots are covered with a few exceptions. shots for
such diseases as hepatitis are not covered. you have to buy the
vaccine. the goverment covers the cost of the actual shot. Same with
allergy shots you have to buy the vaccine.
Senors have their drugs covered minus $100.00 a year and the dispensery
fees. Providing of course
. they are on the government list . New drugs take a while to get there.
And Once the generic drug comes out the government will only cover the
generic drug unless you can produce a legitimate medical reason why you
can't take it. Signed by your doctor. the rest of us pay.
There is a fund for to help parents of children from other countries
pay for treatment at Sick Kids. I can't remember its name at the moment.
In Toronto Families of sick children and their children can stay at
Macdonald House ( a facility built and sponsored by Macdonalds) while
their children undergoing treatment.
Hospitals are always asking for money . from corporations and individuals
for equipment etc.
