Hello friends. It seems a little quiet lately. I'm trying to catch up on some
editing and a my Christmas story is done, and it should be out soon. I have
posted seven parts from my new story and I was wondering if there's any thoughts
or comments on it, and all comments are welcomed.

I dunno. For me it came down to Tracker or Mad TV at 3 AM at work. I went for
Tracker, just because there was a chance Ger would be on-screen. Also because
I hate Mad TV and my co-workers refused to turn the TV off altogether, so
Tracker was definatly the lesser of two evils. That being said, it would indeed
be nice to see Ger in a decent show again.

I've been reading Leer for my Shakespeare class (finals are over, yea!), and I
almost wish Ger were playing the part of Edgar instead of Edmund. Edmund's a
good part, the charecter is brilliant, if evil, but Edgar is the one who ends
up... slightly more than half naked. <weg>

Well, I've lent my DVDs to my best friend, and she tells me that they
play fine on her DVD player. Discussions, both with list members
off-list, and with friends here in the UK, suggest the reason they play
in b&w on my tv and DVD player may be because my tv is eleven years old
and can't cope with the signal it's receiving... Since it otherwise
works perfectly, I'm not going to replace it, so I'll just have to live
with FK in glorious Technicolor, but on a 15" screen.

Still, at least it's good news to the rest of the fans living in Region
2.

I bought my TV in 1992. It needs some time but then it works perfect. But last
week I bought a dvd with code 2 and I've had some problem with it. A friend
will check this out, she has a code 2 player (mine is a codefree/0 one). I am
not sure if it is the player or my old TV. As long as I can watch my FK
DVD's...

I pulled out my copy of Whale Music to check out Jim
Byrnes small scene....and I don't know how I missed
Deborah Duchenne and Blu Mankuma last time around. I
thought Blu looked familiar but didn't know it was him
until credits time. Probably because I wasn't really
watching the whole film, just FF'ing to JB's part LOL.
Blu played a musician...a jazz one, I think. I wonder
if he really plays the sorprano sax, if he learned for
the part, or if it was a dub in....hmmm...?

I saw Deborah when I got to the scene I was looking
for. Her character and JB's character are husband and
wife. I kept thinking "that looks like Janette...that
looks like Janette..." but kept figuring it wasn't
really her....until the credits LOL. Does she really
talk like Janette, or without the accent? I think it
was a combo of the brown hair (which I still can't get
used to LOL) and not having the usual accent that
threw me briefly.

Mel, who thinks four in one is good....I originally
had a tape train someone copy the film for me because
Paul Gross was in it and I was heavy into Due South at
the time...and until now I had no clue it was a four
for one LOL

Subject: New thoughts on LK

Last night I watched LK for the first time in a VERY long time.
Since I last watched it I have done a lot of reading and writing of
fanfic and also have read some interviews with the cast and crew
regarding that episode, so I have become more open as to what may
have happened.
Anyhoo... I noticed at the end that Nick's tears were clear. I know
this was probably due to budget, but in previous episodes they had
established (pretty consistantly) that sweat had a red hue to it.
So are we to take the clear tears as a clue that he was mortal? I
think I read somewhere that Jim Parriot said that in his mind, Nick
died mortal and went to be with Natalie forever.
Also, has Ger ever made any comments on why he filmed (he directed
the ep) it like he did... almost like a dream or hallucination?

Ok time to go back to work after a long weekend off. :(

Nope, Deb doesn't have any kind of foreign accent, just ordinary anglophone
Canadian speech, and she doesn't have Janette's distinct word-by-word enunciation
or the dark tone. Her own voice is much lighter. I was at both the cons she
attended, plus having a conversation with her early one morning when we both
happened to be the only ones in a room where there was a coffee urn.

The brown hair threw me the first time I saw her out of character, too.
Apparently Janette's hair color was a dye.

The great lady quality is there in person. She has lovely manners and focuses
on the person she's talking to rather than herself. Not all actors do this, so
I was very impressed.

Hi, Everyone.

I'm not going to post my story here, because its too long; 14 chapters and
209K. This is a Christmas story and the one I wrote for KC's Christmas
Challenge.

Nick once again tries denying what he wants most, Nat and a life with her.
Circumstances force him to make a decision. This story is totally
different than anything I've written. However, I'm discovering I have a
dark side, because I really enjoyed writing this one. As a matter of fact,
out of all my FK stories, this one is my favorite. <BG> Perhaps I'll write
more Dark N&N stories in the future.

You can access the story at my website:

http://homepage.mac.com/hymonb/MidnightPassions/

Scroll down to Author Gallery, click, and it'll take you to the page where
you have a choice to read it text or .pdf file. This is the temporary home
for the story, since we're still building my new web page.

If you want to bypass the site, and go directly to the story it's located
at:

http://homepage.mac.com/hymonb/gallery/

Also, I just wanted to remind all of you, this is the first year for the
Yuletide Award, Christmas Challenge. I hope all of you will participate in
reading the entries and voting. We would like for this to be an annual
event, and that would mean more FK fan fiction for us to read.

You can access all stories at:

I know all the authors would appreciate you reading and voting for your
favorite story. You may vote for your favorite story, from now until
midnight, December 22. Voting is done by simply sending an email to this
address:

I've read all the stories and they're all GREAT!!! It was nice to have
fresh, new stories to read.

Thanks, and happy reading.

Subject: Thoughts On LK - Nick's Tears

>Are we to take the clear tears as a sign that Nick is mortal?

Ger said in an interview that the tears at the end of LK really had nothing
to do with the storyline. They were genuine tears over the fact that this
would be the last time the cast and crew would be working together since the
show had been cancelled, and it was a very emotional episode for everyone.
However, the tears do fit with the emotion of the story as well. So, I
don't think the creators were trying to indicate that Nick was mortal.
James Parriott has said that the ending was intentionally left open to
interpretation and felt that Nick and Natalie would be together in heaven.
The key themes of the show had to do with faith, love and loyalty, and
Nick's attempt to obtain grace and redemption. I think the ending can be
interpreted that Nick had finally accepted that he had faith, and could be
forgiven for his past transgressions and that his soul would be redeemed.
That is clear in the final dialogue with Natalie. So, in the hereafter, he
would be granted eternal life.

I don't know if Ger has every commented on his direction of the final
episode and whether it was his intention to make the sequences dreamlike.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions.
