Subject: Screen caps needed

I have a request for a couple of screen caps for use in my new
website. I will give you credit of course. I looked on Kristin's site
and the ones I have in mind aren't there. I am not able to get them
as of now. I will tell you the exact scenes I need. I plan to bring
them into adobe and use them in a background kind of way.
If you need to see what I am doing, I can send you a link to a temp
posting I have.
Please contact me off list.
Thanks!

Unlikely, since the screen listed his *birthplace* as Chicago. I'm betting on
dual citizanship.

I agree. I can see him trying, for the most part, to just ignore the whole
thing. Nat, on the other hand, would be appaled at this and INSIST that he put
up *something*. Then we get the Victorian tree. (Just 'cause he's trying to
impress her.)

That's true. If you are born in the US (or possessions), you are
automatically a citizen. Hence the ladies who are 9 month pregnant
coming over here from Mexico to have their babies.
So since it was done as a 'transfer' with his birthplace as
'Chicago', as Nick Knight he would have been, at least at one time a
US citizen, and had to have had dual citizenship, or have renounced
his US citizenship.

Actually, my brother, who was born in Houston has (or had--it may have
changed when he became a legal adult) dual citizenship: Canada, because
his parents were Canadian citizens, and U.S. because he was born there.
So you really can't tell somebody's nationality simply by knowing where
they were born. I also understand that immigrants to the U.S. must
renounce any other citizenship in order to become naturalized American
citizens.

Canada definitely allows immigrants from other countries to retain their
original citizenship of their birthplace when they become Canadian
citizens; that's why there's recently been a Very Big Stink about Maher
Arar, a Canadian citizen who was born in Syria, emigrated to Canada, and
became a dual Canadian/Syrian citizen. When he was in New York on his
way back home from a visit to Syria, he was flagged as a potential
terrorist and deported to Syria instead of to Canada, where his wife and
children were. He's recently returned from Syria after spending a year
being tortured in a Syrian jail.
(http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/11/04/arar031104) Sorry, don't mean to
get all preachy, it's just that point about citizenship has been made
very clear in recent news coverage

And all this makes things very easy for somebody like Aristotle or Larry
Merlin to bend the so-called facts to whatever is convenient!

Any citizenships needed would be a job for Aristotle
Nick was not ACTUALLY born in the USA
He was born about 600 yrs before

All he needs is some fake records (put in a call to Aristotle)
& he can have any citizenship he wants
After running around for 800 yrs
I'm sure he has more then 1
(probally closer to 10-15)

I rather imagine that Nick's way of dealing the holidays varies from year
to year and decade to decade, according to the circumstances of his life
and the state of his quest.

For a "Season 2" Christmas, I can see him getting into it, with some
nudging from Nat and Schanke. Schanke is, I suspect, one of those
competitive decorators, and I can see him persuading Nick to come over to
help him string lights and get the reindeer arranged on the roof or
whatever. (A task best done after dark so you can see which bulbs need
replacing.)

But for "Season 3" I can see something very much along the lines of Nancy's
description, although I think he might light a special candle or two, in
memory of absent friends.

Just a quick blurb:

Being for a state famous for its ability to grow all kinds of cactus and
succulent, I ought to know a bit about the things. I am not sure how it is in
other English-speaking areas, but here in Arizona, we prefer "cacti" as the
pluralization of "cactus". It just sounds better to us. As to Nick's cactus,
I am not sure what sort it is, though I think it is also a kind that grows here
in Arizona, or at least very close. I will have to look throughout the xeriscape
garden at school Wednesday and report back to you all. Until then, have a
great week!

Subject: What does LaCroix have in his home?

I have written fan fiction and have seen other fan
fictions describing what the inside of LaCroix's place
looked like, but I cannot recall ever seeing it in any
of the episodes. Once Janette mentioned that LaCroix
was staying at the Raven, so I guess he lived there.
I was wondering what everyone thinks his place is
like. Does he have a huge king sized bed? Does he
have a kitchen? Why would he need a kitchen if he had
one? What kind of furniture would suit him? He comes
from era so long ago, but is his taste in furniture
modern? I just wonder what everyone thinks. Thanks!

In my fanfic universe, LC lives in a penthouse condo that is decorated in Danish
Modern. The colors are all beiges, tans, and pale golds. Think exquisite
fabrics, butter-soft leather, and the absolute latest in electronics hidden from
view. Why? Just because I think he'd go against preconceptions of vampire
habitat and get something extremely comfortable and ultra-modern, because he's
far too old and powerful to be limited by those human preconceptions.

Of course he has a very few ancient knick-knacks around, like Pompeiian
good-luck wind chimes. (See my conversion day stories for that stuff!) He has a
kitchen, because it comes with the condo, but it obviously doesn't get much use.
And yes, he has a king-sized bed. That ego demands it. <g>

I always assumed Nick claimed to be a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada.
Incidentally, this is the case with John Kapelos, who was born in Canada to an
American mother. I don't know what his father's nationality was.

BTW, I know a couple whose adult son holds three different passports because the
father was British, the mother was Australian, and he was born in the United
States. I'm told he uses the one that's most advantageous depending on where
he's going. :)

Personally I think LaCroix would have an Empire bed (thats a bed the width of
2 King Size beds side to side) I have slept in one once, muy luxurioso!

In Season 3 (Ashes To Ashes?) LaCroix stated that he had gone for a
walk before returning to the club to sleep for the day. He clearly
infers that the Raven is his home as well as his business.

In Season 2, I don't think it was ever obvious where LaCroix lived.

LaCroix has always struck me as a minimalist.
If he has an apartment somewhere, it is probably spacious, but not
ostentatious. It would be sparsely, but elegently furnished. There
would not be a lot of items in the apartment, but each item would be
an individual masterpiece that LaCroix would have selected with care
and consideration to bring "harmony" to his living space.
This is a man with a great appreciation for the arts and beauty who
understands the elegence of a simple plain-black Armani suit with an
silver sword pin at the throat.

Read "Hannibal" by Thomas Harris. His depiction of Hannibal Lector
as Lector sets up his household is much as I view LaCroix.

Which explains the life-size, anatomically correct masterpiece LaCroix had
specially consigned and carved out of pure marble...
