I don't remember if i asked someone this privately, or if i posted it to the
list, but since the people i talk about FK to are also on the list, i'll just
post this. One time i asked (and i may not have been the only one) if Nick
*really* had a catus or if that was just something that they had him have in
the war thingys. Well, i was just watching one of Kristin's music videos and i
saw the catus, lol. So anyway, i thought i'd clear that up for anyone else who
might have been confused :)

it was a typo, i meant cactus. If you don't know what that is...it's a type
of plant.

I saw the last episode of season 1 last night, and noticed that there
were two cactuses (cacti?) at the foot of Nick's stairs in the final
scene. But you can see them in many other Season 1 episodes too.

It's kind of cool (though sad) to watch the series on DVD, because now I
have something I never really had before, when watching it in re-runs on
Showcase and Space: an end-of-season episode, with LC dangled out in
front of us as a bit of a cliffhanger (bribe?) for next season.

Thank You! Of course we have cactus(e) here, too. I love this plant and
sunflowers. I've seen those cactus(e) in some FK eps.

My, but the "National Intruder" certainly has an affinity for vampire stories.
:-) Here's what the tear-sheets and signs plastered to their office wall say:

Vampire makes withdrawal from local blood bank
Armless pianist charged with indecent performance
Color blue prevents insect bites
Live rat found in soda pop bottle (Screed was here???)
Radioactive wastes found in TO drinking water
Deceased Rock Star Alive - He is a 400 yr. old vampire
Vampire seen at A.A. meeting seeking advice
Christ appears in tree that glows in the dark
King Returns from the Dead
Frozen french fries found in glacier
Campaign Cadavers
Dead dog comes back to life ten years later!
(And beside the doctored photo of an elephant with huge ears:) He soars through
the air by flapping his giant ears!

And whoops -- the flag behind Nick's interrogators in the 1954 McCarthy-style
flashback has 50 stars. (You can tell by the uneven star row pattern.) The US
had only 48 states until 1959, allowing the stars to be arranged in a nice, even
pattern. The additions of Alaska and Hawaii presented quite a challenge in
redesigning the flag.

And yes, I'm actually ancient enough to remember when Alaska and Hawaii became
states!

I think quite a few of our vampires have gone into the wine making business.
There seems to be a lot of vintages with "Raven" as part of the brand.
There is also a vintage called "Vampire Wines". It's imported from
Transylvania and comes in white varieties as well as, of course, red.

That reminds me, I had a Gary Farmer sighting last week. Actually, it
was more of a hearing. Listening? Whatever. Anyway, he was on CBC Radio
One reading a story called "Don't Call Me No Name" by Ojibway author
Basil Johnson to help mark Remembrance Day.
I went crazy trying to identify the voice, because it was *sooo*
familiar. And you should have heard my reaction when the host said it
was Farmer!

And that reminds me....!

I watched a *very* weird Johnny Depp movie the other week called "The
Dead", and Gary Farmer was the co-star. The majority of the movie was him
and Depp. So if you're looking for something with lots of GF, this might be
it -- strange as it is <g>

Subject: Fic question - decorations?

Hey -
I am in the process of writing a christmas time fic - and I need some
additional input. I can't decide what kind of decorations Nick would prefer. Like
would he go more traditional/elegant with the old fashioned victorian ornaments,
with the garland around the house, or maybe kind of a 'family' type tree with
crafty ornaments, or more modern - only one or two different colors on the tree
type thing.
I'm kind of going more toward the victorian kind of theme, but I'm wondering
what others think.
Please reply to debrabant_foundation@yahoo.com
Thanks!

On that same note... what kind of decorations would the other characters have

Nat - a little bit of everything, ornaments she and Richard made as children,
etc.. I see her as going all out for christmas.

Schanke - kind of the same thing as Nat, except ornaments made my Jenny,
popcorn around the tree, tons of lights outside (that he grumbled about hanging up)

Tracy - a tree with maybe 1 or two ornaments (she celebrates with her mom or
dad, not at her apartment)

LC - dare you say christmas?!?!??!! Why would he bother with such mortal
nonsense!

I don't know if anyone else has posted it, but the Andromeda site lists
that this episode will be rerun the week of 11/24 (Thanksgiving week for
the US), so check your local listings for channel and time. It is also
usually shown on WGN Sunday nights at 8pm EST.

Nick always seems to have the newest, trendiest stuff. And since money isnt
an object, being a single guy, IF he had a tree, he would probably hire a
designer to come in, set it up, and have some kind of "theme" that would
reflect the current fashion of the day.

Amanda, you hit the ornaments right on! I see it exactly as you do. Nick
would definitely have a traditional, Old Dickens type of tree; the other
characters just as you described below.

I just bought a case of Vampire Cabernet and will be giving it to my friends
for Christmas along with a few other vampire goodies. The wine is an
average vintage, nothing for a real wine expert, but it's the novelty of the
label. The label is black with the word Vampire printed large in red, with
a red drop of blood dripping off the bottom of the letter "V". <LOL> If one
is interested, they can go to google search and type in Vampire Wines.

Every time I see one of these bottles I think of Nick, The Raven, and
LaCroix. I swear, I believe LaCroix is the owner of Vampire Vineyards in
Transylvania. You know what a sick sense of humor he has when it comes to
humans. He knew that us mortals couldn't resist such an item; the entire
time he's sitting back and getting rich off of humans weakness to buy the
unique and ridiculous.

Amanda wondered what sort of Christmas decorations Nick would have.

My take on this is that he wouldn't have any at all. Christmas is the epitome
of everything he longs for and can't have---family and religious celebration. I
think the entire concept of the holiday would send him into the depths of
gloomy despair as only Nick can do.

And after all--he lives alone, he doesn't entertain, so why would he put up
decorations? Of course, you might think he would do it to make himself even more
miserable. <g>

I actually did write a Christmas fic---"The Gift" (see my website if
interested). And yes, Nick's really depressed in it---but he gets better. <g>

I don't think nick would have anything
maybe a small wreath somewhere

He dosen't entertain, besides he's a guy/bachlor
bachlors arn't really into that kinda thing

But I bet he WOULD allow himself to be dragged
over to nat's to help her decorate her place

Nat would have a bit of a problem
what do you get an 8oo yr old for christmas?

Maybe a T-shirt that says "Bite Me"
or a book of McDonalds coupons
or better yet - some coupons to some fancy resturaunt

Nick gets something that says "Dinner for 2" on them . . . . HINT HINT
