"Capitol Offense", ep.206. Back in the day, e.g. just after the original run,
I had that wav on my computer and I don't think I had even seen that episode.
It just made me giggle the way Nick said "No .... No."

I'm trying to identify a scene in which Schanke, in the precinct,
talks about wanting to go fishing during the salmon run, and mentions Myra
in hip-waders. For some reason, he's not getting to do this -- a
case-related reason, recalcitrant Captain, something.

Hi Amy

I think the episode in question is Capital Offence Schanke went to cohen to
ask for time off since he and Nick didn't have a case, but Nick had got
there ahead of him and she replied "Fish with your partner."

Try "Capital Offense"--I have a note that Schanke refers to fishing in
that episode.

You ever just been sitting there, doing your work, minding your own business
when a random scene from a fic you once read digs its heels into your brain and
won't leave you alone until you read that fic again? Needless to say, that's
where I am. In this fic, as far as I can remember, Nick was in a catastrophic
car wreck. I'm not sure who or how he got back to the loft (Vachon maybe?), but
I *do* remember that his stomach was missing, making it more difficult to save
him. I Googled for it, with no success. Little help?

I was watching the two Highlander movies last night, and while the
first one was really stupid, the second was ok...except the man
playing the part of Jacob Kell. During the entire movie I kept
thinking that Mr. Bennett would have been MUCH better in the part. I
like Adrian Paul's Duncan, but if they hadn't killed off Conner, I'd
say that Mr. Wyn Davies would have been great in that part.
I guess if I were in charge of casting the 42 actors in Canada would
be somewhat busy, and the cast of FK would be exceedingly busy. <G>

Not only that, but for most of history, it was very common to say
whichever enemy you're dealing with at the moment wasn't human, evil,
soulless, whatever. It made them easier to kill. If just being
left-handed was considered evil (sinister), what else could vampires
be called?

You do have a good point...you know, during my early
days of watching FK, I briefly wondered if Kell *was*
NB? LOL

I've always thought Adrian Paul would be good as
either Nick or LC, except for the darker skin...he's
got the experience with the flashback scenes, and if
you've seen The Breed...he's yummy with fangs :) And
didn't he actually read to play Nick at one point?

But I think it's almost impossible to recreate
something quite as well as the original without the
original cast. It's just not the same.

Mel, who thought both movies last night were just bad.
I refuse to acknoweledge HL 2 and HL 4 should've been
a lot better the way P/D hyped it to the fans before
it came out. But, I digress...I'm getting off topic.

I have to clarify - I wasn't meaning to imply that that doing good meant you
possessed a soul. I was alluding more to the concept that Janette seemed to
have where she says Nick is tortured by a soul he hasn't got. Nick has a
conscious and he and all the vampires seem to know the difference between
good and evil, wheter they believe they have a soul or not. And yes, you
are right, a person can have a soul and be either good or bad, depending on
which side of his human nature is controlling their actions.

As for FK taking a stand on the existence of souls, I think that the series
does seem to take a stand, although, you might say that it does so
indirectly. The series has a lot to say about faith and redemption, and I
think the fact that Nick goes through a growth process where he finally
comes to the realization that he does have faith and can be redeemed, does
seem to indicate that the soul does exist and can obtain salvation.
