Me thinks there are a lot of people on the list have never looked at the
cost of other TV series for sale. $79.95 is right in there when
comparing it to others TV series that are out. And take a look at the
Startrek series. Most of them are running around $100 per season--and
some are more. TNG is running about $110-$125 per season. And think
--TNG ran for 7 seasons. TOS sells for about $9 per episode.(2 on one
cd They don't sell those by the season ) $29.95 would be ridiculously
low when compared to the others.

Actually, I *have* compared it - in fact, I've purshed Angel and Buffy the
Vampire Slayer sets. Both are loaded with extras. All were under $50. I've also
looked at other sets that were in the $50 or under sets. I'd love to buy all
the Trek sets, but I'm not going to at that price. In fact, I CAN'T. Same with
a lot of other series people are listing as being in the $79. In fact, all
that I've looked at have had extras, which FK is not.

You have to realize that some of us just don't have that kind of money. Great
for those who do, but many of us don't.

However, I would buy a set of FK at what would probably be the discounted off
$79. BUT (and it is a big BUT), I can't really afford it so would have to
wait and pull my pre-orders. In addition, where as I'm likely to buy several
sets over a period of time for gifts, etc. at $29.95, I won't if the SRP is $79.
Many of us are in that situation.

Is it worth it? Not without extras, but it is FK but I'll do my best to get
my hands on a set. But I know a lot of fans just can NOT do it.

He's done tons of them, check out

IIRC, his work before leaving the UK was primarily
theater.

I've never had the fortune to see him in a play, and
the one I regret missing most was his role as Claudius
in Hamlet.

I guess most of the series I am interested in are more than $50. You
are right about the extras. Most of the other series do have extras and
we can just hope they add some extras for the next sets they put out! I
hope the FK sets do stay this cheap! I went ahead and ordered just in
case it does go up and maybe they will honor the price that it is listed
now. At least I am crossing my fingers! At least if it goes up it
won't be such a shock since we were forewarned. I do have a couple of
seasons of TNG, when they went on sale, but am hoping they go down more
so I can eventually get the rest of the seasons.

I tend to agree. Let's put this even further into perspective.

The average movie with a few extras is now usually priced at anywhere from
$14.99 to $19.99. These can usually be found at discount retailers or
online for considerably less. This price is for an average of 2 to 4 hours
of entertainment.

A complete season of FK is 22 episodes! Even at $79.95, that's a deal.

And they're putting it on 5 discs. The recently released seasons 1 & 2 of
Due South are also 22 episodes. They are crammed front and back on 3 discs
with no extras and only available in Canada. For a MSRP of $100.98 CAN
(which currently converts to $72.86 US). I paid in the range of $52.00
plus shipping and had to special order it from Amazon Canada.

And when Highlander Season 1 was first released, it was only available from
the Highlander store for $129.99 (or something like that). It was not
attractively packaged and the shipping was outrageous. And then they
turned around 2 years later and re-released it through Artisan in a nicer
package at half the price.

It's a matter of prioritizing. I am not wealthy and I have to budget to
afford things that I want. We've waited so long and lobbied so hard for
this, it seems really petty to complain about the price which is pretty
standard and fair for the producers to ask.

You have to decide how important it is to buy and how much you really want it.

Remember though, Sony is in business to make money. They invested money in
their product and deserve a fair return. It's hardly fair to expect them
to give it away just because we begged for it for 6 years.

Also, for what it's worth, it's not very nice to attack the messenger who
brought the news.

I've been very disappointed reading many of the posts since the DVDs were
announced. I really expected more from FK fandom.

I don't think you guys need to get so worried about it. If you look at
"Columbia TriStar" DVD sets they *never* get that high and FK is *still*
$29.95 retail ($22 on sale online) everywhere I have seen. That's the price
it *is* and since so many people have already pre-ordered, I really do not
see how they could change it. I've never heard of that happening before.

In all fairness, I only saw one post I remember attacking the messenger. Most
of us are just thinking the price is *slightly* out of line IF they raise it
to $79.99. Also in fairness, I think $29.99 is too cheap. <g> . Some of us
do buy or at least consider a number of other series on DVD so know the prices.
THere actually is a wide range of prices.

My point is just that if they do raise the price to $79, watch the
"placement" on Amazon dive down as people *HAVE* and I do mean *HAVE* to cancel
their orders because they can't afford it. Sometimes, it isn't a matter of budgeting,
it is a matter of being able to pay the bills period.

My only disappointment is with people saying we shouldn't send our thanks to
anyone for finally getting the series out professionally. A thank you is never
"wrong."

I'd have to look at my credit card bill if they raise the price to $79. I
seriously might have to just wait whether I want to or not.

Be sure to "request" at your local libraries and video stores that they make
sure the Forever Knight DVDs are available to be checked out/rented.

My local library has a variety of DVDs and videos - including Black Addar,
Captain Beebop, 24, Buffy, etc. I'm going to request FK! I requested Greg
Kramer's first novel and now they have it in their permanent collection. hehehe.

Great Idea Libs!

I request books all the time but never thought of it even though I know the
local library is asking for suggestions on new multimedia <read: DVD>
titles.

Sending in my application NOW to the library.

Ell

I was switching through the music channels on the plane, when I came across
"There's a love knot in my lariat". I immediately flashed to Teddy singing it
in the lobster pound, and thought how appropriate it is since I was flying to
Nova Scotia to see Ger. Not being a C&W fan, I didn't even know this was a real
song, I thought it was written for the BLACK HARBOUR episode.
