Hey everyone,

davisdvd posted the FK Season One Boxset menus today. They're absolutely
gorgeous! I love the designs!

http://www.davisdvd.com/Miscellaneous/gallery_h.htm

According to the site this set is known as "Forever Knight Trilogy Pt 1"
which really sounds like Columbia Tristar already has plans to release the
other 2 seasons soon. The first set is being released Oct. 21, 2003, with 5
discs (I find this a bit odd...other shows with 22 episodes tend to be 6
discs) at only 29.95 retail (that's cheap!). It looks like we got cheated on
the extras though. I had a feeling that would happen. All I see is trailers,
but I bet they will still be great to watch.

Anyways, love the artwork! Can't wait to see the cover art as well!

Woo Hoo!!!! Although when I went to the site and checked out the
preorder links. FK wasn't there. Maybe it's too soon.
I am so psyched! Just in time for Halloween!
The 21st isn't a weird date. They always release new DVDs and CDs on
tuesdays.

29.95?! That's *freaky* cheap. My Transformers DVD box sets were 2 or 3x
that! Maybe I'll buy two. =)

> the extras though. I had a feeling that would happen. All I see is trailers,

Maybe when they see the response to Season 1, they'll add something to
Season 2 or 3? That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Can't wait...

That's not even the Toronto city skyline. It's just some generic city artwork.

At this price I may have to get 2 sets.

I just got an odd e-mail from Gord. He said quote:

"DavisDVD should NOT have posted that information yet."

I was asking about why it was only 5 discs for example. Generally, shows
with 22 episodes have at least 6 discs. That would mean Columbia compressed
the heck out of the episodes being *47.5* min each. Perhaps, the info is not
final.

I do love the designs....I hope that "Trailers" is not it for extras
though...

As to the CN tower missing, I think that has something to do with the
tension between the USA and Canada.

Hi

If you look at the running time each episode is 47.5 minutes. So now is that
the long versions??

I took the running time and divided by 22 . It actually comes to
47.5454545454 minutes.

What tension between the US and Canada? It probably has more to do with that
not being the final art, or the people doing the art not realizing how
important the Toronto skyline and location is to FK fans. They probably just
used a
generic city scape.

I'm not that worried about the art (although nice art is a plus!) It is just
the episodes on professional DVD I want. Maybe the jerks illegally selling the
VCDs and video tapes on eBay will stop once we can get it legally.

not necessarily. It will depend on how long the trailers are and how
many of them there are. That will be a factor in the total time.

DavisDVD <http://www.davisdvd.com> is reporting a release date of
October 21, 2003. They also say it will be a five disc set with a running time
of 1046 minutes and a retail price of $29.95. The only supplement is "trailers"
on disc one.

There's nothing on Sony's website yet, it currently only goes up to October 14
and anything from the 21st won't show up next week.
Assuming it's accurate, the retail price of $29.95 seems awfully low for a full
season (I would have paid five times that much without a second thought), though
I'm not complaining. It just means I'll buy extra copies to stay factory-sealed
and look pretty on the shelf.

Thanks to "zipbags" on the SciFi Channel's FK bulletin board for posting there
about this.

Actually the total time listed on the back of a DVD or video includes
*only* the actual film. The extras are not included in the running
time. Hence my Gods & Generals DVD lists a running time of 219
minutes. The movie is just under 4 hours, the time does not include
the several documentaries and videos also included on the DVD.
Hence, there's hope.
Also, my Due South DVD set is on 3 disks, front and back. So maybe
they're still working on it.

I was just trying to compare the picture on the
page...

Can anyone identify the city skyscape used? Maybe
it's a composite, but my first reaction was it was
*kind* of a squashed-together Chicago skyline (Sears
tower to the left, Hancock Building to the right),
thinking the taller right building was Hancock, but
looking again I decided that wasn't it.

The show also used what looked like a shot of Toronto from the bow of a boat
coming in off the Lake. I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure the Tower wasn't
visible in that shot, probably because of the angle or even the direction. Some
of you in Toronto, am I right that the Tower's not in a position where you
couldn't miss it in photographing the city from any point

Well, when I visited... any photo I took had the tower in it, but I
was downtown. Although, we couldn't see it from our hotel window and
we were only a block away at the Royal York (with a front facing
room).

$29.95 is not all that unusual a price for a DVD set without a lot of bells and
whistles. They are pricing it to sell to everyone, instead of just the die-hard
fans like those who will pay $99 for a year of Star Trek.

It is only $10 to $15 less than you can easily find either Buffy the Vampire
Slayer or Angel season DVD sets.

It most definitely is NOT $29.95 per disk ;-)

I'm not from Toronto, but in my visits it seems to me that if you're looking
towards downtown, you can't miss the CN. It's pretty much center-left on the
skyline when you look towards downtown from the lake. I think it's going to
show up in any panoramic view of the skyline.

Actually, I got the first season of Stargate SG-1 for about that, and
it's on 5 discs. Although, I just checked and it's about doubled in
price now.
I've already told my dad that I am "throwing away' 29.95 plus taxes,
shipping and handling in October, and I don't care which bills don't
get paid. I've done without any treats (well, ok, almost any) for 15
months, and I am going to treat myself to this.

Now, does anyone have any idea when seasons 2 and 3 might appear? The
Stargate SG-1 seasons are coming out 2 seasons at a time, and fairly
quickly. Is that a good indication that FK seasons 2 and 3 will be
out soon?
