Definitely, but Nick's driver's license (wasn't it?) brought $3000 at a live
auction. I even know someone who paid over $250 for a fake dead lab white with
a bite taken out of it.

Now who'd do that???

Susan Garrett's crew jacket was recently up for auction and it went for
$1700... I know.. cuz I was about to bid even more for it before I came to my
senses.

Let us not forget the $3,200 spent to retrieve a Coke can from Mr.
Bennett's clothing.

The price it went for was $4200. And the Harp from Queen of Harps went for
2200. One of LaCroix's crystal glass went for 1000. And if I remember
correctly, I'd have to look it up but LaCroix's ring went for 3000.

All for Charity at Bridging the Knight.

I was remembering the ring, not the license, I think.

I remember Screed's daggar was $800. The man who won it let me touch it as he
knew I really wanted it.

Was that a charity auction or an eBay-like auction. Whether the money was
going to a charity or not would make a difference on how much I would be
willing to pay.

Bridging the Knight was the forerunner to Lights Camera Auction. It was held
near San Fransisco after the final season of Forever Knight. Proceeds went to
a Toronto Pediatric AIDs home (and if I remember right, didn't the proceeds
keep that charity from closing?) as well as the Canadian Diabetic Association.

I do think the charities had a lot to do with how high the bids went there. I
know I didn't feel guilty bidding that much on the rat because I saw it as a
donation. The rat was just a bonus. LOL!

It really was a remarkable weekend of FK fans. Everyone was very generous
with letting others touch their auction wins. I was sitting behind the gentleman
who won the harp, and he let me hold it. The man who won Screed's daggar was
working the event, and even commented he knew how bad I probably wanted it (I
really wish I'd gotten a picture of that daggar). There was another rat up for
auction as well, and I tried to get it but backed down when someone explained
it was a gift for someone else (the bidding went too high anyway).

Hi

I agree. I went nuts at some of the Gertherings and LCA . After I came to my
senses I at least had the justification that I was giving to charity.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, it was possible to buy official FK t-shirts.
As far as I know they were only available for a short time and even then you
had to buy a dozen or so at a time. Some of us collaborated to get them. They
are black (of course) with the Forever Knight logo (as used in the opening
sequence) embroidered on the left front. It's the one I'm wearing in the
picture on my FK pages.

Also, one Halloween, I don't remember if it was second or third season, Sony
ran an FK trivia contest on their web site. The prize (at least what I won) was
an official FK baseball cap - black with a red bill and the logo (same as the
shirt) embroidered on the front.

I seem to recall another contest with vamp bitten coffee cups as the prize.
Anybody else remember that one?

Your absolutely right. Charity donations have a lot to do with the amount of
the bidding. I went to LCA2 & 3 and purchased one of Nick's three business
cards. I was willing to pay 450.oo for it because it was going to charity. In
addition, I attended G5 and I am very good friends with a young lady who
purchased a set of matching Forever Knight towels, pillows, quilt [all fan made]
and a chance to sit with Ger at dinner for a light sum of 19,000.00.
Yes...that is the correct amount. And it is the highest bid I have ever heard
of offered at a charity fund raiser.

That's what makes LCA a success--fun stuff to buy, and the proceeds go
to charity. I've dropped some money there and enjoyed myself a lot.

It was amazing to see that happen!

LCA has produced some stupendous bids, the highest for set visits to
La Femme Nikita. I believe the highest went for $22,000, but that was
in Canadian dollars so the US cost was more like $14,000---still not
chump change, but not the $19,000 from G5.

The most mind-boggling bids have to be for the Coke Can Challenge,
though. I just can't imagine bidding the amounts that people do for a
Coke can---and a lot of the time, it's not even full! <g>

Those are very handsome shirts. Too bad they're not on offer any
more---unless someone who bought a dozen has one tucked away in a
drawer?? <g>

Yeah, I have one of those! I got it in an online charity auction, and
then had Ger autograph it for me at G4. Needless to say, I don't wear
it. It's stashed away in my "save" drawer.

I was told (by Allie) years ago that Allie Percy had the QoH harp. I take
it that there was more than one? (I think I do vaguely remember Allie telling
me there was, but am not sure and am curious.)

I believe there were two harps. The One used in the pre-vampire Nick scene
was more ornate and new. The second used in the 1996 story was worn and the
painted designs on the harp were worn, to show wear from age. Two were used
to reflect the difference in the time gap between the two stories.

One at BtK and I'm not sure where the other one was auctioned off.

The other one was auctioned off at Toronto Trek in '96 or '97, the year of the
first GWDFC Charity Bikeathon.

I seem to remember there being more than one as well, but also it was a man
and a woman sitting in front of me that day. I was relatively new to Fkfic and
Jadfe, and not subscribed yet to forkni-l, so a lot of names weren't
"clicking" with me yet at Bridging the Knight. One of them could have been
Allie, but I don't think so.

One of the strangest situations didn't realize until months later - there was
someone at Bridging who lived in the same town I do. I probably talked to
her, but we didn't really meet each other until after the event.

The only people I knew beforehand at Bridging was the two people who went
with me and PN Elrod (who talked me into going in the first place)

Subject: FK vamp-bitten coffee mugs

I have one, and here's the background. Just before the third season,
Sony-TriStar had been all set to push FK hard. Ger had been supposed to do a
personal appearance at the Las Vegas convention of the professional association
of television programming executives (I can't recall the acronym). Then Ryssher
pressured USA out of the deal because they were concerned that FK was making
inroads on Highlander's ratings. Ger's appearance was cancelled.

A group of Forkni-lers had gone to Las Vegas to the convention to push FK. We
knew nothing about the situation with Ryssher. Nobody did at the time. The
Forkni-lers found FK promotional items at the convention, including the mugs.
They're black, with the show's logo in red, and the rim looks as though someone
had taken a large bite out of it. Each member of the Forkni-l party came back
with one. I suppose there were others acquired by members of the convention.

Mine was a gift from one of the Forkni-l group after I told her how unhappy I
was at being unable to keep going up in the bidding for one that appeared on
Ebay. That one was from a junk shop, according to the seller.

Bedloe's Island is now called Liberty Island, NOT Ellis Island. I read
