Oohhhh. That sounds so much like I need to purchase that issue. There's a
place by me that sells gourmet varieties of corn-to-pop-at-home, and I've
been thinking of doing a "popcorn tasting party" for a while...

I once started writing something that had Nick and Tracy at an encampent
that was half SCA/Markland/etc.-like and half renfaire-like, but the
premise I had in mind had some fundamental flaws.

The premise I was working with didn't even touch "fighting" and "armor";
the "Nick's history" sub-line had to do with him having studied with an
herbalist...

Okay, so I've bought a MINI Cooper. It's not here yet, but it'll be
delivered in July. (If anyone cares, it'll be yellow with a black roof
and lotsa chrome. Yippee!) Buying a MINI is like joining a
cult---everyone is totally fanatical about their little, teensy car.
There are even haiku written about the Joys of Motoring.

So, good little cult member that I am, I'm reading the MINI message
boards, and I come across this message:

"Hey, how come Chili Red gets its own club? What about us IB?"

What?? The Immortal Beloveds want a MINI club? Hey, why not? But then
I realized that, since Chili Red is a car color, so is IB---it's Indie
Blue. Darn.

And here I was hoping to find that Knightie or UF MINI club...Nick in
a MINI...Lacroix motoring through the Toronto traffic and zigzagging
past those boring, big cars...

A girl can dream.

Hello. Someone wrote about Nick being in plastic and no way. Then him in an
all black leather suit. Mercy. I could never write a story and put it up. I
could get into serious trouble so that's a great dream.

        Big/little question.
Does a MINI even have a trunk?
How much of a contortionist would Nick have to be to fit into it?
                Tim

P.S. In no way should this question be considered inducement for a
group of Knighties to provide an emperical answer by "acquiring" GWD and
smuggling him across the border for immortal purposes.

Actually, no. They're hatchbacks. But if a vampire were willing to be covered
by a light-proof cover of some sort, he could be comfy in the 23-sq. ft of
storage space (once the back seats were flipped down). Unfortunately, MINIs
tend to draw gawkers, who would no doubt be wondering what that lumpy bit of
cargo in the back was.

The UF list had a 150-word challenge: Lacroix does the unthinkable and Nick
forgives him. My story? Lacroix buys a MINI and expects Nick to drive with him.
Unthinkable!!

Subject: Nick & Janette in Human Factor

I have been thinking... (I know.... a dangerous pasttime)
In Human Factor, when Janette goes to Nick's apt and talks to
him...then the next scene we see is the next night.... I am
wondering... did anything happen? Or did Nick stay on the couch. I
remember there being a conversation something like Janette saying
"How did you sleep?" and Nick answering "I didn't." which could be
taken in a certain way.
I just thought I'd put this forward because a story I'm working on
does have something happen. I am wondering if this goes against canon
- or if that part of the episode is open to interpretation.
Thanks!
-Amanda

That ep got me thinking a lot too , esp. why Nick
didn't notice that Janette was mortal until she was
shot. She should have had a noticable heartbeat etc.
all the things that he notices in Nat all the time.
Well, he didn't (but he is good at ignoring his vamp
senses) so I doubt that he got really close to her.
And wośld Janette have let him? She was still grieving
for Robert at that time.

My 2 cents,
Doris

Subject: Fic question - France/brabant ques?

Hi -
This doesn't have a huge bearing on the story, but I am wondering -
in the northern region of France / Belgium region (ie Brabant) what
would be the modern influences on the country side? Like would there
be telephone poles and things like that? I am not considering the
cities at all, just the countryside. I rode through on the Eurostar
4 years ago and didn't pay any attention to things like that.

Also.... In current times....I am looking for a name for a horse
belonging to Nick and I am drawing a blank. I want it to reflect
some of his history. Right now I have the horse's name as
'Chevalier' but that sounds kind of stupid. I am just using it as a
place holder. It is a jet black stallion. Something with a french
influence would be fine.
Thanks for the help!

Depends on what kind of horse it is, Amanda, and what it's used for. Contact me
off-list and I can give you a lot of horse names. I've been involved with
horses for over 25 years now.

Hi, thanks!
I am picturing him has a large black arabian type horse. He is just
a riding horse / companion. (Nick is alone in my story). He is not a
huge character in the story, but he kind of fits in has Nick's friend
for this part.
Thanks again!
