Oh, I agree totally. But it's not clear just *when* he did the
memory-wiping whammy, since Nick & Nat leave the restaurant alone. (I
think!?)

I think it was both. If you listen very carefully to that scene, there
is (if I recall correctly!) a faint thump-thump in the background, which
is meant to suggest a more subtle & skillful whammy. And that's
reinforced by the persuasive arguments that LC is using.

This particular convention was a Mainstream SF con (authors, panels, 3day
thing), in this case, as with most fan conventions of the type, it is not for
charity, the money goes to the artist, with a percentage going to the
convention itself.

That is why the artist offered to do a second print. She didnt feel right
about taking the money.

Well, we'd love to see you there :) And yes, the wonderful people who
attend LCA are very. very generous. Thanks very much to everyone!

In which episode do we learn Natalie's blood type? Schanke's is in "Dark
Knight," obviously, but for some reason I can't quite recall the scene in
which Natalie mentions hers, though I have an impression it's AB (I don't
recall her Rh factor), and that the scene is in the morgue.

If you know the episode, can you please CC me with its name off-list? (I'm
presently set no-mail on forkni-l, so I'd miss a response sent to the list
only.)

This is for fanfiction-in-progress, by the way. Thank you very much!

Natalie, commenting on the murder victim in "Let No Man Tear Asunder": "Rare
blood type. Same as mine--AB-negative."

That's what i thought too, the first time i saw that episode.

Doris said: <snip> "I wonder if LC used hypnotism on Schanke in Close

I remember this being brought up on the list a long time ago and someone said
something like "LaCroix hypnotizing Schanke in that ep was a nice example of
gently persuading" I'm paraphrasing a *lot* because i don't quite remember
how it was worded, but when i first saw the ep, that's what i thought--that
LaCroix had hypnotized Schanke, but that he did it in a way that led him to
the 'truth' ...in a non-obvious way. *Laughs* i know that is worded badly,
but i think ya'll get the point :)

Recently I added some wallpapers to my site, mostly N&N. They aren't nearly as
good as Kristin's or Jarvinia's, but you might find something you like. Also,
Valerie and Renee have some wonderful collages and wallpapers on their web
pages. Check them out.

It seems Jean Graham's novel is not the only fanfic on
the market on ebay. I came across a copy of Shadows
and Roses today. If only they were selling it for
charity!

I just read a story in the "Strange Enough" section of
Yahoo news about frescos that were stolen in Pompeii.
I immediately thought about LaCroix's home away from
home and Divia. Here's the link to the story:

Don't know if anyone has mentioned these because I
haven't yet read all the posts on this subject, but
I'd have to say:

- Nick's remote-controled shutters, blinds whatever
they are, really neat.
- LaCroix' sword pin.
- Schanke's Duck lamp, it's just so hideous, it's
great. <g>
- LaCroix' black leather trench coat - presages a
certain similar beloved item on another show. <g>
- Nick's hair first season.
- Nick's black silk jammies, esp. when worn with bare
feet

on a similar note

Least favorite things:

- Nick's red brocade (or is it damask) dressing gown.
- Nick's hair third season

Subject: Fate Worse than Death Question

Ok, this is day 2 of my own personal FK marathon.
This afternoon while watching FWTD, when Nick and Janette are
standing outside the Raven after the pimp (can't remember his name)
was killed and Nick says "Now she'll just belong to another master"
then the flashback goes to Lacroix bringing Janette over.
Having not seen the ep in a while, this made me think..... you'd
think that Janette would be much more sympathetic to Nick. Like, when
Lacroix brought her across, she was not really free, she just had a
different master. I know this isn't canon, but I have seen it in
several fanfics - Lacroix kind of (for lack of a better word) pimped
her out to snag Nick.

(I'm getting a lot more insight into many eps, since I haven't seen
the show in a while)

Here's what I think:
Janette doesn't consider LC to be her pimp. For her
being brought across is actually a liberation. It
gives her the chance to take revenge and live as she
likes. We never get to see LC treat her the way he
treated Nick (there is one scene in Father's Day, but
I don't think he tortures her like he tortures Nick).
I think LC is her master in every way and she accepts
him as such, but he treats her more like an equal than
all the other men before. She also hasn't got the
intention of leaving LC forever like Nick does.

As for the other thing:

Being an Uffer I think that LC had a part in choosing
Nick but that doesn't mean Janette was just bait. It
could have been a joint desicion to lure him.

Boy, what incoherent rambling.

Luc
