Subject: Vampire Names

I tried my name and came up with Goddess of the Arctic, aka Curse of the
Vile. Hmm - well, I know the north shore of Lake Ontario isn't the tropics,
but we're hardly in the tundra. As for my Archive Record - "vile, foul,
filthy, and greedy: this creature knows nothing of light" - it sounds like
somebody who's worked the midnight shift for too long.

I put in "Nicholas de Brabant" and got High Priest of the Night, aka
Hierophant of the Lost - a lonely one who guides the lost - but not to
safety, to their doom. Well, that's sort of apropos. But what the heck is a
Hierophant? My Funk&Wagnalls doesn't run to such exotic words.

In ancient Greece, a hierophant was a priest of the Eleusinian mysteries. Later
the term came to mean anybody who
claimed to be able to understand religious or sacred mysteries.

Hmmm that Vampire Name thing is fun and interesting. It changes if you put in
your actual spelling of your name, or a
nickname, or previous names. This one goes with the correct spelling of my name.
The others were equally fun.

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Persephone Papillon

Known in some parts of the world as:
Hero of The Howling Wolves

The Great Archives Record:
Hot of blood and running wild with the hungry wolves.

Okay, so I put in my name and got Rani of the Far East, Mistress of Sewer
Rats. Which obviously means somebody got me and Libs mixed up. ;)

So then, just to be silly, I popped in my puppy's name (which happens to be
Willow Wilson by the way) and got Tsarina of the Far East, Mistress of All
Thieves. Which, if you consider the fact that every time I turn my back on
her she's swiping something either out of the trash, out of my purse, or off
whatever other surfaces she can reach for her to chew upon, I think that
sounds about right. ;)

I asked Atomica (www.atomica.com -- possibly the kewlest online reference tool
I've ever seen!) and it replied:

1. An ancient Greek priest who interpreted sacred mysteries, especially the
priest of the Eleusinian mysteries.
2. An interpreter of sacred mysteries or arcane knowledge.
3. One who explains or makes a commentary.
