I have to agree with Megan on that, and not just because
that's how I described it in my own story "In the Name of the
Code." To me, it is a law of nature that whenever more than
two members of the same species come together, some kind of a
ruling force becomes necessary. And the greater the
community, the bigger its ruling body. Besides, we've all
seen what strict rules these vampires live by, what with all
their discreetness and shadowy lives. There’s got to be
someone to make sure no rowdy bigshot-wannabe blows up their
cover, right? The best explanation I found was in a number of
earlier stories, which I later used in my own story: That
there is a vampire council in each city that exists in the
darkness and just monitors everything that happens in the
vampire community. The Enforcers are the military forces of
this council. How do the Enforcers get wind where or when the
Code is broken? It’s easy, they don’t. It’s the council that
gets all the reports. They only get summoned by the council
and go on missions to do the clean up. Where do LaCroix and
other old vamps fit in the equation? Depends on the vampire.
LaCroix did seem to me like the political type--“I rode with
Charlemagne…”--so maybe he is in contact with the council and
even pulls some strings from time to time when it comes to
his troublesome, mortality-seeking son.

Of course these are all only my ideas.

You're looking through a book catalog and see a book
called "Abarat" and the first thing you think about is
letting Nick know.

OK, here's my Ribena story.

On my first trip to Britain, I bought 6 bottles in
London and carried them around in the trunk of my
rental car for 5 weeks (because I didn't want to take
the chance of not finding it again before I left).
Then I carefully wrapped them in newspaper and carried
them home. The next day I went to my local Safeway to
restock my fridge and what do I see on the shelf,
Ribena. Ribena just 2 blocks from my house and much
cheaper and no worries about bottles breaking in your
luggage.

BTW, I didn't have to worry about not finding it
again. It is a very popular drink in Britain and can
be found everywhere. The hotel I stayed at in London
even served it for breakfast instead of orange juice.

I saw this book. It is by Clive Barker. I even read the dust jacket
to see if it had anything to do with ancient remedies or vampires,
but...alas it didn't, so I didn't but it. :)

Subject: Life on Homicide

I just finished reading a very interesting book.
(Yes, I really did read a book!) It is called "Life
on Homicide: A Police Detective's Memoir" by William
McCormack with Bob Cooper.

McCormack was a Homicide Detective for 10 years before
becoming Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Toronto
Police Force from 1989 to 1995 (which covers first and
second season FOREVER KNIGHT).

I'm not really into 'true crime', but this is a
fascinating look at real Toronto Homicide Detectives
and police procedure, which, as expected, is totally
different from the entirely fictitious world of
FOREVER KNIGHT.

I'm not sure just when it will be on other channels. There are a number of
online TV listings where you can check you local channels. The episode is
called And Your Heart Will Fly Away. Synopsis is "Tyr encounters a long
lost love and the man who had hired him to kill her."

And am divesting myself of many things. Found a box of zines I agented for
Ophelia. If anyone would like one (they are adult in nature) and you live
in the US, you can send me $5.00 via paypal or check - just let me know
you're doing it so I can set aside the zine and send it out media rate
(price includes postage).

If you're outside the US, let me know and I can quote you international
shipping rates (thank heavens for usps.com). I think the only other thing
I have a backstock on is some issues of Karenina and Time Winds - not many
other Forever Knight zines, save for a few copies of One's own coin.

You can contact me directly at the address in the sig - please don't
clutter up the list with replies. Thanks!

Hi Janice!!

So nice to see I'm not the only one around who can't quite seem to let it go.
Ofcourse my tv is set to Sci-Fi at 11:00 each morning...like I don't already
have them all on tape (in so many different forms) and can practically recite
them. FK's kind of like an old friend that never changes, brings memories of
realllly good times and is aways around.

Hugs!!
