Subject: Re: Intro to FK

Hello all.
I just decided to add my introduction to this on line 'archives'.

I am a late [k]knight person and work till 6 in the morning. So I caught my
first FK episode "Rebecca" {Dying For Fame} back in 1992 after CBS Crimetime
After Prime Time. Thereafter I spent the following years following FK around
the dials.

At one point, I was seeing FK four times a week. USA twice a week. Wliw
channel 55 on long Island and even WPIX channel 11 in NY had the show for a
time. Talk about getting a fix of FK. I loved that time.
When the show went off the air from SFC back in 98, I got in machine
embroidering. So I started my own line of FK T-shirts for the fans since we
didn't have anything out there.

I started going to convs where FK was represented. Along with trying to get
to meet every cast member. Still working on that one. But I did get to see
and help start the Caddy at LCA2. What a kick as I am a CaddyWhacker at
heart. And a Die Hard.

I do whatever I can to get more of FK or making sure I keep FK in the face of
TPTB.
My husband recently retired from Seagram's Corp. So I no long have any
inside info about the corp's ownership of USA/SFC in relation to FK. I feel
bad about that. It was great knowing what was going on in the inside.

I recently purchased a new car and she is called "Raven." She's all black of
course. My plate is N Knight but soon to be changed to Raven. I wish I
could have purchased the Caddy. She would have a good home next to my other
collectibles.

Anyway........ Long Live the Knight.
I'll be a fanatic Forever as Forever Knight means Forever!!!!!

Say... didn't our Nick know Shakespeare pretty well?
(I loved reading These Our Revels)I read the press release, it certainly
looks like something Nick could authoritatively write about!

Wonder what the W. in Mr Knight's name stands for?

Posted with permission. Thanks Lisa :)
Please feel free to post this to other lists with thier permission.

Greetings Fellow Forever Knight Fans :)

Well it's been a long time between Kickstart The Knight updates so here
 goes...
We are focusing our attention on getting FK on DVD, but we can't do it
 without your help.
Having said that, what we need you to do is this: write
a short to medium sized email asking for all
three seasons of Forever Knight on DVD.
I will collect them from now until the last
week of November. After that time, I will send them out on your behalf.
Send these emails to me at: SField8067@a.......
NOT The ML please, and put: FK: DVD in the
 subject line.

Now that's not all we are going to do. We are going to press (pardon the
pun) for the trade paperback novels to start up again. We feel that there is
plenty of interest on the fans' behalf to
warrant them, along with other merchandise. We will need your help with that
 as well soon.

Okay, now "The Crusader". I know many of you feel that it has gone to the
land of the lost. Well, RL has caught up to the crew this past year or so,
but we are going to do our very best to get that going again by December or
 January at the latest.

Will there be another KtK auction you ask?
YES! We are in the process of gathering items now. We have a few goodies but
need lots more to raise the
money needed for a new ad, so if anyone on the list has anything they want to
donate to the cause, please contact me at:
 SField8067@a.......

I want to assure everyone that KtK has not
given up. We won't stop, and as a matter of fact we are just getting started.
We want to make sure you, the fans, get as much as possible from TPTB.
So that's the update for now. We appreciate the longtime fans that have
stuck it out with us, and the new fans that come along every day ,
discovering the wonderful world of FK. You are
 the backbone of the campaign.

 Love to all,
 Susan

Isn't that the whole problem with the cup. According to the legend to
regain his mortality Nick has to drink the blood of the sacrifical victim
from the cup. Which means someone has to die or be sacrificed. I always
wondered how Nick was going to get around that problem. Would he sacrifice
a life to become mortal?

My reputation? I dread thinking about it <g>. In wartime it consists of
drinking Merlot, the blessed Valium salt lick (thanks, Bonnie!), and
handcuffs (the only way I can be gotten to TO). Otherwise, er ... I suspect
the phrase "doesn't suffer fools silently" may spring to some veteran list
members' minds <weg>.

I watched FK fitfully in its initial airings, but only really got seriously
involved once I got online (too late for the FK spoiler list, alas).

I attended my first-ever "con" at Bridging the Knight, and had a wonderful
time meeting Libs and Megan and Caliban and Illinois Jules and Wicked Cousin
Tippi and Gehirn Karies (now known as Rusty MacAndrews) and lots of other
wonderful folk. I got to hold the Rat Wot Kilt Screed, and razzed Kapelos and
Nigel about being "unsuited."

The one thing I was adamant about was that I would never, ever, under any
circumstances, join any FK faction. Absolutely not. No way. Period.

Need I say I am the current List Cobra of the Unnamed Faction list? What can
I tell you: factions happen.

This is a very generous and warmhearted fandom. I'm glad I found it.

Best,
Julia K.

I've got the digital recorder set to record Earth: Final Conflict off
Sci-Fi. (was catching up on the last three seasons which I never
managed to see....)

Anyway, looking at yesterday's episode when I got home, I had an extreme
FK moment - literally. All these FK alum within about the same 60
seconds of screen time:

Von Flores
Lisa Howard,
David Hemblen
and of course Lisa Ryder (appearing in a photo, as her char. had already
been killed off.)

Even though the show is over, I keep waiting for Nick to show up
somewhere. And maybe LaCroix - I'd love to see LaCroix vs. Zo-or.

Hmmm... what would core energy do to LaCroix if he tried to feed on a
Taelon? I shudder to think...

All great minds...I wondered as well.

I managed to read the name of two of the books and looked on Amazon
and the Library of Congress. As far as I can tell they are not real
books, at least in the US. Now I'm wondering what the REAL books were
inside the fake jacket (the same thing I wondered about the book(s)
used in the Emily Weiss story).

Oh, that's right! I think I started watching it in it's initial run
specifically to see him. It had something to do with an assassination, etc.

It's been said before here.... there's only a couple dozen Canadian
actors, and they rotate between all the shows produced. :-) If it was
produced in Canada, chances are you'll see one of the core group.

I've been afraid to consider my own rep. I may have set myself up last War
when I wrote that I had a trunk of "torture devices" in my room, when we
were looking for ways to torture Vachon-in-LC. No, nothing like
that! (Get those minds out of the gutter!) IIRC, I came up with a
videotape of Richard Simmons, an audiotape of Roseanne singing the Star
Spangled Banner, stuff like that. PG-13 War stories, remember?

Hmmmm ... wonder how well Vachon remembers what happened to him when his
mind was in LC's body. Guess I'll find out next time.

I was always highly impressed (sarcastic) that he could get that much
information out of the local library. Not that libraries don't have plenty of
reading material on vampires, but no two books I've ever read have EVER agreed
on particulars of vampire life, abilities, prevelence, etc. The fact that
Schanke could simply get a couple of books from the library and pick up
completely accurate information (not to mention the fact that the book still
exists, and (I'm assuming) the author has not been neatly taken care of by the
Enforcers for giving away information) strikes me as just another plot
hole/contrivance that needs a fanfic fairy to sew up.

It has been a while since I've seen this episode so I'm going by memory... But
even if Schanke knew Nick was a vampire after talking with LaCroix, he may have
seen vampires in a more "human" light. As I recall, LaCroix was rather gentle
in a LaCroix like manner, and Schanke, being a family man and a father, may have
connected with that. Vampire or not, it simply became a "non-issue."

I always felt it was a great example of how a vampire could use his
whammying ability gently, and that it could be more effective than using it
like a hammer. He gently guided Schanke so that he pretty much talked
himself out of the idea that Nick was a vampire. Absolutely masterful!

Not necessarily a human life, though. Altun Canal is supposed to be a Mayan
site, and when DK was written ten years ago, it was still supposed that the
Mayans had been a peaceful people. We now know that their religious ceremonies
emphasized the self-shedding of blood by members of the royal families. I'm
not going into detail because part of it's not suitable for a family list :)
and partly because it's pretty gruesome. Captured kings of other cities may
have been sacrificed (I'm not clear on this detail -- it's very recent
information because it's since Dark Knight that the Mayan glyphs have been
deciphered.) But so far I don't think there's any reason to believe that Mayan
religion normally involved human sacrifices the way the Aztec did. I've always
suspected that the DK script confused Aztecs and Mayas.

This is a large helping of cheese, since of course it involves post-DK
information. :) It could also be argued that Nick had in mind the sacrifice of
the captured kindg.

In any case, the modern Maya are at least nominally Christian. I've wondered
for some time what use Nick thought the cup was going to be without the
priests who used them ritually. <g>

Anyone want to try the idea that what really caused the cure was something in
the physical material of the cups, and that two are needed because only one
wouldn't leach enough traces into the blood?
