But in the recent showing of 'My Boyfriend Is A Vampire', I got the
impression that Screed was feeding on those girls, the same as Vachon and
the other vampire... so just because he *prefers* rats, he isn't opposed
to feeding off humans.
Or am I misinterpreting that whole scene?

That's not just on the Net, it was either in Blind Faith or Fever, too.

<< (so maybe he lives on the street by choice, surrounded by rats) >>
In Blind Faith, Nick calls Carouches (like Screed) "a lower form of vampire."
That same episode (and I'm going from memory), we learn of at least two other
carouches. One is the one who turns Perry across to a vampire. The other is
the one LaCroix feeds Nick's dog to. We don't really see them, but they seem
a LOT wilder than Screed. More feral.

Screed does live like he does by choice, but if Nick looks down on him, no
doubt most other "human drinking" vampires do too.

So it is generally believe, especially among the Ratpack, that carouches tend
to pick up tendencies from their animal prey just as the human-drinking
vampires "pick up" things about their victims. Yes, it probably fades, but
drinking the blood and "knowing" animals probably eventually makes them
wilder, less civilized.

Not that the Ratpack is complainin'

He prefers rats for food, but apparently feeding is also part of FK vampire
sex. Screed, bein' the ladies type o' droog 'e h'iz, h'ain't objectin' ta a

Raccoons in Toronto! My, my! In our small town in central Iowa, the raccoons
are said to infest our storm sewers. My daughter and I have actually seen a
raccoon or two disappear into a storm sewer after dark, so we have started to
refer to them as "sewer racs". If the situation is similar in Toronto,
Screed would have plenty to feast on if he ran out of rats.

The many ravines and large floodplain parks in Toronto are a haven for
wildlife of all kinds. There are gazillions of raccoons, coyotes, red,
grey and black squirrels, even deer, if Screed fancies a bit of variety
in his dining. If he felt like having something *really* exotic for
dinner, there's always the Metro Toronto Zoo, although i'd be pretty
upset if he went after the snow leopards or the koalas that are here on
loan from the San Diego Zoo. <g>

The actual line count (not word count) should be in the Fkfic-l rules post. I
think it's around 5 pages, assuming you're using 12 pt. Times New Roman font
and normal margins -- sorry, I don't have a copy of the rules, but McLisa posts
them every Sunday.

Story parts can not be longer than 300 lines. I suggest you set you line length
to 70 characters. (I use a text editor, TextPad, which conveniently numbers
lines and enables me to set line length in number of characters).

Make sure your story is in plain text so that it comes through without the
dreaded "=20" disease.

There's a 250 line limit on each post. Your posts have to be 250 lines or
less each, otherwise they're cut off and not posted to the group properly.
Unless it's been changed, that's how I remember the rule. Hope this helps.

Subject: Knight Vision Back Online with Huge Update

Hi everyone,

Knight Vision is back online to the fullest! Here's the huge update (I'll
wait a day or 2 before updating again to let you all go through all the new
stuff). I added FK DVD captures from the following episodes...

"Baby, Baby": 211 pictures, plus an outtake picture
"The Black Buddha Part 1": 125 pictures
"The Black Buddha Part 2:": 72 pictures
"Outside the Lines": 76 pictures
"Blackwing": 196 pictures, plus a shot from the theme
"Blind Faith": 108 pictures
"My Boyfriend is a Vampire": 54 pictures
"Hearts of Darkness": 72 pictures

Special Feature: 68 widescreen DVD captures from GWD's new movie: "American
Psycho II."

Also, a new "Sponsor's List" has been added under the "Letter Writing
Campaign" on the "Save the Knight" page. Please realize these people pay for
FK's broadcast on Sci-fi and are just as important to write to!

My site was backed up on discs for this upgrade, but I have noticed a few
images that didn't backup properly (such as either they would not come up or
were oddly pixilated). Please let me know if you see any not loading right.
I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks and enjoy!

FORKNI-L RULES

1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE SET NOPOST. THE NOPOST MAY BE PERMANENT.

2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post in
replying. If you have more than one point to answer, then you may
quote the relevant four lines for that point also.

3. Limit sigs to 6 lines. This includes all information, decoration
quotations and blank lines. Your name and address count as part of
the six. If you sign your name on a separate line above the body of
text, your name and the blank line or lines between count as part of
the six line limit. If you have one of those services that insists on
putting an advertising tag on the end of posts, don't worry. We
realize you can't control that and it doesn't count as part of your
sig.

4. Please don't send to the whole list when you are only talking to
the person who wrote the post you are answering.

5. Advertising on list is on a case by case basis. Please consult the
listowners, Lisa McDavid, <mclisa@m.......> or Don Fasig,
<Argent@e.......f> or permission.

6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight. Cast, crew,
staff and producers in connection with what they're doing now or have
done in the past are ok. So are list members' FK- fannish activities
and arrangements to meet. Cons should only be announced on Forkni-l
if someone from the show is appearing, or if you're going to be
there. Non-FK vampires, or vampires in general, are _NOT_ ok.
Vampyres@t....... does that. McLisa can tell you how to
subscribe. . 7. Off-topic posts are _NOT_ allowed, no matter what
they are about or how urgent the warning may appear. If you have an
off-topic post which you think should appear on the list, ask one of
the owners for permission.

8. The private lives of the cast are not a discussion topic.
Occasionally one of the fan club presidents will make an
announcement, but other than that, we leave the cast their privacy.

9. Only fan club presidents or other designated spokespeople may make
announcements of future projects for FK cast, crew and staff, before
said projects have been released or written about in the media.

10. No role-playing on Forkni-l. This includes no character names as
pseudonyms or posing as a character.

11. Each subscriber is limited to five posts per day on Forkni-l.

No, I got that impression too. However, there was a great
answer to this question in a fic I read on the unnamed
faction list. It goes like this: The higher in the food
chain a vampire is, the less are its choices in food.
Carouches are vampires who *enjoy* and sometimes *prefer*
animal blood, but they can feed on humans as well; they
don't mind. Vampires on the other hand can't stand animal
blood (although Nick seems to do a great job in that)
because they aren't fed the bad stuff to begin with. If
you ask me, it's just a matter of taste, and human blood
it a much better vintage.
