Subject: Killer Instinct: cut scene

I was really puzzled when Nick explained that they should be looking for a
single suspect because of the similarity of the M.O.s: the perp was killing
people by using their addictions against one. Obviously, the first was killed
when he paused to look at the bottle of booze and then was shot and set on fire
using the alcohol to ignite the blaze. But the second!? An addiction to
bricks??? So I got out both my old SciFi version & my Canadian version. The
old SciFi version had nothing extra that would explain what had happened. But
in the Canadian version, you got to see the perp inject the victim with
something, presumably the drug to which he was addicted, after knocking him out
with the brick. But that *still* doesn't explain how Nick knew that this is
what happened. We don't see Nick or Natalie discover the needle mark, for
example. Nick apparently uses second sight or sheer guesswork based on the
first murder to discover this--and judging from his grimace, it is
very difficult for him. Oddly, no one at the scene challenges his
conclusion or asks him to explain.

Did I miss something here?

Ts... ts.... <g> From what I heard from older fans this infamous 'special'
version never got aired, or released on video, never saw the tiniest
mention of it otherwise, but not 100% sure. Perhaps you have better
sources, might be. But didn't Nigel or someone tell in an interview
that only the neck-of-the-week showed the extra-skin? Seriously,
who cares...? ;-)

At any rate the 1997-RTL versions here had about 42-43 min (commercials
edited out), and whenever cut scenes were mentioned onlist, they
sounded familiar :)

And for GWD they seem to use another voice in every movie or show,
feels weird!! The one in FK was best, deeper, it did have something
special about it...

Yes, it's a funny effect, huh? Never stops amazing me, after years on
english lists still works on me, gives everything somehow an exotic
touch. Then if I read it translated to myself most stuff sounds quite
normal again <g>

Usually, and the first and second season of FK were quite good, but the
third one - horror! As much as I love that special fave ep of mine, but
the dubbing in this case sounds like a high school theatre group at
their first attempt, makes you just cringe! Suspect very much that they
were in such a hurry with dubbing that they didn't even have time to
first listen to the original, so differently comes it across. The original
haunting to the extreme, and the dubbing sounding just silly and
ridiculous - outch!!
Makes you really appreciate what gifted actors they all were!

Got some great news from the Stratford Festival!!!

May 2, 2002 . . .

Geraint Wyn Davies, appearing at the Stratford Festival of Canada
from July 13 to September 14 as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, will
also take on the character of Dylan Thomas in Do Not Go Gentle, a
one-man show about the Welsh poet written by Festival alumnus Leon
Pownall.

There are three performances of the play: August 22, August 23 and
August 28 at 8 p.m. at the new Studio Theatre, located in the Avon
Theatre complex.

Mr. Pownall returns in the Festival's golden 50th season to play
Abraham in Bereav'd of Light by Winnipeg playwright Ian Ross. It runs
at the Studio Theatre from July 28 to August 25.

Check the GWDFC's website (http://www.gwdfc.org) for the complete
press release from Stratford.

Leon Pownall played the Master Painter in "Dead Issue" and David
Ogden in "Dead of Knight".

(Sorry if you get this twice - I tried sending it earlier from a
little used club address and it's hung up somewhere!

We had that on the TV news over here tonight, those rats were no where near
as cute as the 'ratsie wot kilt Screed' Actually Screed would have loved
these rats, they were huge, looked more like puppy size than rat size ...
would have made a decent size meal :P

I heard all about this on National Public Radio. It's
very kewl---they train the rat to go left or right by
stimulus of the brain (giving them a pleasure jolt when
they perform correctly). They think the rats can go into
collapsed buildings to locate victims.

The researcher admitted that a victim might be
frightened by a rat crawling on him or her, but
said, "We'd have to outfit them with little yellow and
red vests with 'Rescue' on them so as not to frighten
the victim."

Add to the vest the little backpack with the power
supply for the radio transmitter (and maybe a tiny TV
camera) and you have a well-dressed Rescue Ratsie that
I'm sure Screed would be proud of!

Why do I picture all the Ratpackers being dressed in little vests in the next
FK fan war??? The tunnels are no more, but I'm sure some faction will think of
a use for such technology.

For a price, o' course<wRPg>

Hmmm, though the trick is how to keep Ratpackers from pawning the cameras.

Hmmmm.... Ya know, Patt *was* buried under the collapsed Shrine to Nunkies
at the end of the last war.... <G>

Bribery? Attaching them with lots of duct tape? Threats of being thwapped
with rolled up newspapers or being forced to watch a chorus line of Metro
cops sing and dance to filks?

Yes! Patt needs to be rescued by a Metro Toronto Police
Rescue Ratsie!

I can't wait to see how this story line develops! <g>

According to the SciFi Channel Newsletter they're working on a video game
too. It's entitled "The Search for Zin" (IIRC). They didn't say whether
GWD was going to be assisting or not.

I was reading through old Foxtrot cartoons and ran across this one. Look
familiar to anyone else? ;)
