Also coming out of lurkdom to ask...

Does anyone know if there is going to be a "host" for this marathon - Ger or
Nigel or someone else?

I think there was an ep a little further into the season where Nick says
something about not being able to sense Janette (or maybe LC) very well. I
think they even ascribed it to Nick's diet of cow blood. If the writers
didn't I guess I just made that connection.

When I saw the list, I was trying to decide if they were following some sort
of theme. But I couldn't find one. Then I wondered if it were someone's
top 10 list of favorite eps + 2. Or some attempt at showing eps that might
attract a new audience. AT least they're showing AMPH and AtA in the
correct order. Even though it will be confusing to see different Captains
and different partners (without BB to explain it) most of the eps can stand
on their own with no references between them. But the 2 Divia eps would
definitely be impossible to understand out of order.

If there's going to be a host, maybe there will be some explanation of why
the cast changer are occurring. Also, I don't remember how much in season
sequence the previous marathons were.

Hmm. Does he ever actually *touch* the back of the card where
the symbol is?
Perhaps it being on the back of the card, out of sight and away from
his fingers, dilutes or renders harmless any disturbing effect it might have.
After all, Nick has a Joan's cross in a box, and it doesn't seem to
bother him unless he opens the box and looks at it.
The swearing-in scene (FW) seemed to indicate that only actually touching
the cross on the cover of the Bible was a problem, not just holding the book
itself.

This has always been my opinion. As an
agnotic/athiest, I don't beleive in a 'god', but I do
know that there are powers in this world that we can't
explain. Since every religion has some claim to this
power, while proffessing completely different things,
I can only assume that, long ago, people in different
parts of the world stumbled across ways to tap into
and control the power, and religions grew up around
it. That would certainly explain why vampires from
one religion (or no religion) react to 'holy' object
(like Nick and the menorah, or the Vietnamise guy and
the cross). They all tap into some kind of power that
is anathma to vampires, not because they're 'evil',
but because it's a natural reaction, like acid and
base.
Hmmmm... so what happened, way back when, when
knowledge of different religions was not common, and
vampires traveled to other regions, not knowing what
would affect them and what wouldn't? They'd probably
end up finding out by accident. Ouch!

Yes, and it gibes with Nick's problem--the one that killed Natalie and
his first wife, that he can't stop just short of death, so he can't
turn them.

When FK was last on Sci-Fi some years ago, there was a
marathon that I interpreted as the "best of FK". This list looks very
familiar. You've got to admit it will give any new watcher a lot of
exposure to what is going on (if a little chaotically).

I've taped the previous marathons, so I can vouch for the fact that they were
NOT in season order. As I remember it, the Valentine marathon was BMV
followed by C&C, Crazy Love, The Fix, AMPH (all season 2) and THEN
backtracked to season 1 for OtL.... soooo, I'm not sure who decides what eps
go into the marathons but they have not historically kept them in any
particular order

I would like to thank everyone who helped me on this! All this information
will really help my paper. I may need to contact some of you later, so
don't go dissappearing into the nearest black hole please. :) Thank you so
much, and if there is anyone still out there that wants to tell me their
opinion on why vampires are so fun to write about, please, e-mail me off
list! :) Thanks all!

Subject: Question on FK

I am hoping someone on the list has the answer for
this question. Does anyone remember if Nick had a
message on his answering machine during the second
season? I can remember something about
"incommunicado", but don't remember what season that
was. Trying to work on a story but this is one of the
glitches I have run into. Thank you very much, for
any help you can give me. Phylis
