I like the idea of a marathon, but I wish they could have scheduled FK at a
later time. I understand that they couldn't make it a prime-time slot since
those are usually reserved for original programming and movies. It's just
that for those of us that have 8 to 5 jobs, unless we get our VCR's in gear,
can't see FK during the day. I was really hoping for a 6pm time slot. How
are we supposed to show our loyalty if we can't make time to watch?

I think-
Everytime a group gets together that they should send a note to SciFi telling
them about the event/ get together. Such as - a card writing session with
all cards bundled and sent together. Lable the thing from "the Natpacker
2002 Toronto gettogether" or whatever. If you all do the Marathon at a
hotel, write some notes while you're there and everybody contribute a stamp
per destination. I think a bundle of letters makes a nice impression.

Screed had such a small part, there's no telling if they'd get the intent or
not unless the individual receiving it happened to be a BIG FK fan.

In theater, I've run across a lot of FK fans, but some don't get "the Ratsie
Wot Kilt Screed" until I either explain, or they see the episode. But maybe a
basket of items representing each character with a tag attached explaining? A
rose for LaCroix, a toy Caddy for Nick, gummy rat for Screed, and so forth....

(Some, however, are really impressed I've met some of the actors. I mentioned
something about sending a tape of a play I was in to Greg at some point, and
one of my friends went, "YIKES! He'd see me! No! My performance was just
awful...." and so forth. It was kind of cute, and she thought so when she
realized what she was saying! LOL!)

150 plus new homes from what used to be Nick's loft? 1200sq ft is 30' x
40', so that's a *lot* of space - gives you some idea of just how large his
warehouse really was. (Thinks - 24 apartments in my 6 storey block, 12
about that size, the other 12 half that size, and it's a fair sized
building.... Wow! It's huge!)

You don't suppose it should be just 15-16 units? Which would make more
sense from what we saw of the exterior, and its' use as an auto shop.

And what *did* he do with all the space we never got to see?

The stock shots of the warehouse show only a small corner of the
building. In reality, it's a 5-story high, C-shaped building with the
open side facing south. Even so, I kinda doubt the 150-160 units number
as well, if they are talking 1200 Sq ft condos. That would make 30+
units per floor. The building is pretty big, but it's not "that" big.

Since I happened to be in the area, I swung round past the building
yesterday. There's no Sales Office or condo advertisements on the site
at the moment, and the auto detailing business on the main floor still
appears to be in operation.

Subject: FK Website Revision

Well, I guess the return of FK to Sci Fi inspired me, because I have redone
my FK website for the first time in about three years. It's much more
streamlined and easier to read, and all the links work (for now)! I also
finally came up with a simple solution for all those big 640x480 screen
captures I've got, so someday if I have time perhaps I'll do some more. In
the meantime, I've got all the ones I was able to do that people had
requested on the site. The website should look good if your screen
resolution is set anywhere between 1280x1024 and 800x600, although it's not
as nice on the lower res. end of that range. There are probably other links
that I should have on my links page, so if anyone wants to suggest a link,
please email me.

If you'd like to check out the site, it's at:

I actually think of Angel as being completely different than FK,
although I think Highlander is/was quite similar (the tv show), and
contemporary to FK. There is a superficial similarity, but Angel has
kept moving past Nick's sexual problems, and even past his need for
redemption. Angel has chosen to be as he is, in order to fight the
fight he is fighting, which is a major difference. Angel and Buffy are
both shows where the unexpected happens frequently, and they are
constantly surprising to me--and television rarely surprises me.

Subject: Differences between Angel & FK

While I haven't seen every single Angel episode, I have been watching it lately.
Here are some differences between Angel & FK that I have noticed.

1. There seems to be quite a difference in vampire biology. since Angel was
able to have a child, although the mystical PTB probably had something to do
with it, the only way a FK vampire could "reproduce" was to bring someone across.

2. Also, another difference is that vampires in the Buffy/Angel universe seem
to have no capacity for choosing between good and evil acts (with the exception
of Angel). OTOH, FK vampires can.

3. FK seemed to have left it an open question as to whether vampires had souls,
while the Buffy/Angel universe made it clear that they didn't (again, except for
Angel).

4. Angel and Buffy also seem to get into a lot more mysticism & mythology than
FK, which was orginally promoted as a cop show, IIRC. A lot of shows dealing
with mystical & paranormal things seem to be popular now like Buffy, Angel,
Charmed, Roswell, Smallville (okay, it's not really paranormal, but its promoted
as a Roswell-type series), etc. If the networks would pick up FK for reruns, it
might actually do better in the ratings now.

5. The main plot of FK was that Nick wanted to become mortal again. The main
plot of Angel is a prophesy (or is it a series of prophesies?) about him and
his son, with regards to whether Angel can save the world as we know it from
being destroyed.

As far as I'm concerned, the differences in plot, characters, and general
ambience make for two different but excellent TV series.
