I don't suppose that there's anyone out there who could send me the ad?

Sunny, I don't think you have to worry that they will change the exterior of
the loft too much (other than to give it a good cleanup!). There was a
picture accompanying the Star article which showed what I assume they intend
the finished product to look like - and it's basically the same, with the
water tower still in place. I think that's supposed to be part of its charm!
The Star's website is www.thestar.com and if you click on "Weekly Sections"
then "condos" you can find the article - but unfortunately they haven't
included the picture.

Thank goodness. I was rather worried when Marg sent
out that message about them having a sign in front of
it for construction. It's like letting you know they
are tearing down the Eiffel tower before you had a
chance to see it.
Wish I had enough money to buy the place. What was
that "Bare Naked Ladies" song again? If I had a
million dollars...? <sigh>

PS. I'm wondering why they mentioned the water tower
in the article and said nothing about it being a
filming location. Is it that they don't know that Fk
was filmed there or didn't think of it as a useful
advertising strategy?

They probably don't know and wouldn't care anyhow. So many places are
used as film sites in Toronto for so many TV shows and films these days
that nobody really cares, except for a few die-hard fans.

It's funny that you should ask that, but yes, I'm 99% sure that it's the
same location. It's probably the only warehouse-looking place on "lower"
Broadview (i.e., near the lake) that has a "distinctive water tower" on the
roof.

The reason why it's funny that you asked, is because my locations list
doesn't give an address for it, other than that it's the home (or soon to be
former home) of Continental Auto Collision. The shop that was there
beforehand was Gateway Auto Collision, hence the address on the show of "101
Gateway".

And yes, I HAD been thinking of putting an offer on the building and putting
together a group to redevelop it as loft units. I own condominium property
in Toronto, and while a whole building might have been a stretch, I was
concerned about the state of the building and whether, in spite of doing
reasonably well financially during the computer industry boom of the 90's,
I'd actually have the money to buy it. I ultimately chose against doing so,
but now in retrospect I feel rather foolish for not having suggested the
idea to other fans in case some others had been interested in a partnership.
It's a little late now, alas.

Mary - Did you recall the name of the building's owner and the development
firm? Just curious.

That's actually a very good question, and I confess that I hadn't thought of
it. (This is also why, although I had the idea for it, that someone more
organised than myself should actually run the thing if - and when? - enough
interest emerges). You're my third response so far, and if I average one
every other day for the next few months, the numbers could be fairly
sizeable indeed - not like the Shrewthering, but one never knows, right?

Anyhow, my original idea had been to have everyone meet up in Stratford and
then drive up to Toronto the day after the play (or the day before,
depending on peoples' schedules). However, this won't work for people who
aren't attending the play.

I think that in a few weeks, I'll write a mass e-mail to everyone who has
responded and try to work something out in terms of logistics? (Does this
mean that I'm changing my mind about not wanting to organise it? Well,
we'll see...).

I suppose I should mention here that a number of people who belong to the
NNPackers are meeting in Toronto for our 5th Annual MiniCon and a number of
us are attending the play on Sunday, August 18th. This will be the last day
of our Con, but it might be nice to meet still more of the fans if you
decided to make it that date.

<de-lurking for a moment...>

There should be something posted at SciFi.com, either today or tomorrow,
which should officially confirm FK's return to Sci-Fi.

If it's true..... oh, happy, happy.... joy, joy! :)

according to the events listings for the month of April, FK IS listed as a
marathon of eps that will be from 11:00 am to 11:pm april 1st...
once Sci-Fi's entire schedulebot for April is posted we can see if its back
on the schedule full time.but Sci-fi usually dosen't show any marathons
unless its a program currently on its schedule so its looking good!
