I never heard that! I thought it was very interesting to have a
Japanese/Canadian named Cohen; just like that, you know she has a backstory of
some sort. Adopted? Married to a Jewish guy? I always wanted to know more about
her.

Absolutely. They did have a lovely assortment of captains, didn't they? And they
never stooped to use them as stereotypes, either.

I'd say their PR department had serious problems with Ger's appearance when they
started selling this show. I would never describe him as rugged. Boyish,
handsome, adorable, yes. "Rugged" is reserved for those Marlboro Man types, or
Clint Eastwood. The scruff was just silly. I, like McLisa, prefer my Nick neatly
groomed, pink and shiny, although his hair should always look ruffled, like he
had to fly to work. <g>

There was a fic about an old gypsy song, LaCroix and Nick fed on a gypsy
dancer and made her a vampire. LaCroix thought it was very ironic because
the song was about a vampire or something. I really don't remember much
more than that, but I'd really like to get the name. Thanks!

Subject: Challenge

Ok, I've got a challenge, and I can't even carry through. It just gave me
too many ideas, and i couldn't settle on one. So... using, basically, this
song, write a story. Remember this is a PG13 list. The song isn't tampered
with, it's straight from the broadway 'Jeckle and Hyde'.
Ok, 'Dangerous games' Sung by Lucy and Hyde.

Lucy: I feel your fingers, cold on my shoulder
your chilling touch as it runs down my spine.
Watching your eyes, as they invade my soul,
forbidden pleasures, I'm afraid to make mine.

At the touch of your hand,
at the sound of your voice,
at the moment your eyes meet mine.
I am losing my mind,
I am losing control,
fighting feelings I can't define.

Hyde: It's a sin with no name
Lucy: like a hand in a flame.
Both: and our senses proclaim, it's a dangerous game.

Hyde: A darker dream, that has no ending,
That's so unreal, you belive that it's true!
A dance of Death, out of a mystery tale,
the frightened princess, dosen't know what to do!

Will the ghosts go away,
Will she will them to stay,
Either way there's not way to win!

Lucy: All I know is I'm lost,
and I'm countin the cost,
my emotions are in a spin!

I don't know who's to blame
Hyde: It's a crime and a shame
Lucy: But it's true all the same,
both: it's a dangerous game!

Both: No one speaks,
Not one word!
But what words are in our eyes!

Silence speaks,
Loud and clear!
(simotaniously)
Lucy:All the words we don't want to hear!
Hyde:All the words we want to hear!

Both: At the touch of a hand
at the sound of your voice,
at the moment your eyes meet mine,
I am out of my mind
I am out of control
full of feelings I can't describe.

Lucy:It's a sin with no name

Hyde:No remorse and no shame,
Fire Fury and FLAME!

Lucy: And the devil's to blame!

Both: and the angels proclaim!
(softly) It's a dangerous... game.

Well, it's cooler when you hear it, but I think of FK every time I hear it.
Remember there are humorous possiblities as well. :) Good luck!

I think his hair is naturally what we call in the US "dishwater blond", which is
that indiscriminate color that could be dark blond or light brown. But since Ger
lightens his hair sometimes to give it blond highlights, it's generally called
blond.

The story is End Game by J.Ahn (you can find it at Mel's page).

It seems to vary depending on the light and the set. I've seen everything
from bright blond to brown. I always thought they had a rinse or highlights
on his hair in FK but that's nothing I've ever heard.

For some reason, I'm remembering Nigel at a con, just before the second
season, explaining that he'd declined to have his hair bleached this time.
He said therefore his hair would be "its lovely natural mouse." :)

Maybe that explains his fascination with the "ratsie wot kilt Screed."
Although it is white stricked with blood red, it is a rodent and if his hair
is mouse colored, would that make them ... COUSINS?

It might also have been "naturally" bleached. My niece and nephew have hair
about Ger's color, and it takes only a couple of days in the sun for them to
lighten to true blond. A weekend playing tennis without a hat would do it
for Ger, and IIRC, he has said that the makeup people on FK told him he did
not have to hide away indoors to maintain maximum pallor <gr>.

Well, it always looked blond to me. <shrug>

I loved Nick as a blue-eyed blond: the coloring made him look angelic,
stricken, even innocent at times; at other times it made him look wanton and
wicked (thinking of him in the flashbacks of 'Fallen Angel'--yum! drool!

I remember it as just the opposite--he was told he had to keep out of the sun,
especially since he's so fair and gets red very quickly. Not that he complied
all the time---in some of the eps it seems to me his pale makeup is especially
thick.
