Yeah, I know... you didn't even notice I was gone, right?
Well, I forgive you.
Anyways, KC and I had a really GREAT time in Southern California for the
holidays, even though we hardly spent any time together (there is such
thing as too much togetherness!). I spent most of my vacation off with
my boyfriend and his family.
Here's some news for ya'll that I KNOW KC hasn't shared with you (she's
such a dog, sometimes!)... KC got accepted into the University of
Southern California's (USC) Norris Cancer Institute, to participate in a
clinical trials. Originally they told her she would have to raise
$8,000.00 to participate (only 20% of the actual bill, since the American
Cancer Society was footing most of it). I always thought they paid
*you*, but I guess that isn't always the case.
Anyhow, her doctor managed to get all of the medical expenses covered!
All she has to do is raise $1,500.00 for the trip (airfare, hotel and
expenses). Paul's grandparents are paying the airfare and his parent's
are paying part of the hotel, so KC just has to raise about $800.00.
She is so totally praising God for this!

Okay, now for my FK experience!
I went to Six Flaggs' Magic Mountain and I saw this girl that looked
*just* like Catherine Disher! I must have stared for, like, twenty
minutes! My boyfriend asked me what in the world I was staring at and I
told him all about FK. He said it sounded like a cool show, so when we
got home, we went on the internet and I showed him all the sites! Now he
is HOOKED! KC is loaning him her tapes (of course she took them with her
on vacation!) and he called to say that it is a really cool show!
Bad news, though: He is definitely leaning in the Nick/Natpacker
direction! I keep trying to pull him into the Val's camp, but he said
Nick and Natalie are much cooler together. ::sigh::

Well, I'm done rambling for now! Hope you all had a good Christmas and a
Happy New Year!

Thanks. That's the one I was thinking of. I thought they went together.
I guess that they don't really. I'll have to wait for April to write

I had a similar experience over the Christmas break. I'm a Nick/NatPacker,
and I introduced a pal of mine to FK (she became interested when I told her
about Blind Faith, since she has a guide dog herself). After viewing a few
of my favourite Nat-centric episodes, she professed a preference for Janette
over Natalie... *sigh*

Ah, well, it happens. ;)

Subject: vampire reproduction and all that jazz.

This has been quite an interesting thread! As far as whether or not Urs
and Jenette could conceive or not--I don't think so. Even if they did
have periods, I don't think their bodies would let the menses out. When
Nick was on Nat's table after the explosion. All of his bodily fluids
returned to him and he healed nearly completely. Nat asks if they
brought the right one because he doesn't even look like he cut himself
shaving. Or something to that effect.
Also, the way Jenette's skin repaired itself after getting a tattoo.
Even if the eggs were viable I don't think that there would be a lining
to attach to. If their bodies don't tolerate food I can't see that
the reproductive function would stay intact. Besides, could you just
imagine a female vampire in full blown PMS! I don't think our
population could handle many of those events! As for whether or not
they would need to breathe. Vampires (FK or any other) may not need to
breathe for body function, but they would need some breath function to
talk. Our ability to talk also centers on our ability to move air past
the vocal chords. If you have ever been around someone who has chronic
lung disease, when they are really obstructed their voice is real soft.
The more air you can push past the vocal chord the louder your voice.
Now for the feeling like your bleeding to death every month ( for those
that do). The reason why you feel so crummy has to do with the major
shifts in progesterone and estrogen levels. Before your period the
progesterone level is really high. The cycle kicks in when the body
signals no fertilized egg to make happy. Progesterone drops
dramatically-- giving you the major icky feeling. Estrogen then starts
the up swing to try to rebalance the equation. The amount of fluids lost
is also related to the hormone balance. The greater the imbalance, the
thicker the lining , the greater the output. That's the most simplistic
explanation I could come up with at 1:25 am! I didn't get the feeling
that Jenette or Urs were bothered by the female woes of their human
counterparts! Frankly I think Diva was brought across at the terrible
12 to 14 year span--Raging hormones! Or as we call them at work
Horrormones! (I'm a 21 yr. OB/Gyn nurse, gee does it show?!?) I would
certainly want to leave the planet if a vamp brought across either one
of my daughters at that time in their lives. It was hard enough to deal
with them as it was!
If the vampire trait was a retro virus, I still don't see how either
Serene (I think--Baby/Baby) or Jenette could get pregnant. First the
virus would have to be killed, either by a healthy immune system ( which
I don't think they have) or by drugs ( which they don't take). Then
there is the after effects left over from having a major virus take over
the body. Something's just don't recover. The body's natural defense
is to save all major organs and body functions. Reproduction is on the
bottom of that list. It's just not need for survival. I know enough
already!
It's bedtime and my cat is saying "rub my tummy or I'm going to sit on
your keyboard"!
To all of you guys on the list--So Sorry and it's probably more info
than really wanted to know!

Does that mean they'd feel all bloated and puffy *all the time*? <g>

Obviously, biology is not my strong point, so this is just speculation: I
know that female athletes and anorexics whose body fat drops below a certain
percentage no longer have their periods. Would this somehow apply to our FK
vampires? *Is* there fat in blood? If so, how would their bodies process
it?

There's a very funny fanfic lurking in that sentence!

Since you're the professional, I'll bow to your wisdom. But I do have what
is referred to as "normal" low blood pressure; I can detect drops in my
blood pressure very easily and it seems as if it's at an all-time low during
my period. Boy, I bet we're really grossing out the male listmembers, here.

I don't either, but then I don't see how Nick can suddenly decide to digest
French fries after a few days in a 12-step program. <snort> Refer to McL's
earlier post re the consistency of FK, lol.

Subject: Buffy list for Forever Knight fans

I originally posted this about a month ago, but with a new "Buffy the Vampire
Slayer" episode having aired in the US last night, thought I'd repost the
information.

I've started a NO FLAMES list for Forever Knight fans who are also Buffy the
Vampire Slayer fans - you MUST be 18 or over to join as the language and
situations sometimes get a bit adult. I will warn folks most of the people on
the list are Spike fans <g> Not that the fact in itself requires warning, but I
don't think anyone would dare say bad things about the character.

(Must be something to do with LaCroix and Screed fans just naturally adding
another vampire with a British accent to their "fans of" list)

Fiction is allowed, even more adult fiction (though I ask anything TOO strong
simply be advertised due to yahoogroups rules, but considering what is shown on
Buffy, it'd have to be pretty dang adult before anyone would complain)

Anyway, join other Forever Knight fans as they discuss Buffy and Spike's antics,
individually or together *heheheh* with some FK discussion tossed in.

To subscribe, go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fkspiked/

Or e-mail me directly. I may ask you for an age statement, so please don't be
offended if I do.

IMHO the quickest way to find almost everything is to simply look it up at
google,
they just don't stop amazing me!! And even have crawled all of Mel's fkfanfic,
quite handy. This link is a search for truce tasha forever knight, and
