Well, the Romany word for a half-vampire, half human is Dhampir
(plural dhampir, not dhampirs), if that helps.

Depends on what subject the characters are taking:

LaCroix--Military Science, Foreign Language, Government; no studying.
Cosmetology; definitely yes on studying.

Nick--Arts, Piano, Foreign Language; no.  Health Information Management;
yes.

Natalie--Any medical class; no. Real Estate; yes.

Janette--Cosmetology, Interior Design, Foreign Language; no. Any
occupational class; yes.

Schanke--Culinary Arts; no (especially the tasting). Electrical
Technology; yes.

Tracy--Criminal Justice; no. Chemistry; yes.

Vachon--Music (anything having to do with playing the guitar); no.
Anything else; yes.

Screed--Aquatic Science; no. English, Speech, and maybe Foreign
Language; yes.

Aristotle--No to any class he may take. (He could just change the grade
anytime, so what is the point for him to take any courses?)

I would not list any courses for our immortal friends in Aeronautical
Technology, History, Biology, and Physical Education. They would pass
the courses easily. If our vampire friends were enrolled in Welding and
Fire Protection Technology, I can see disaster coming. Fire and vampires
don't mix, or so I'm told.

Well that is my two cents on the subject.

I got a messages from Cloud that her clouddancer@h....... addy does still
work so go ahead and send your birthday greetings to her there. Sorry
for the confusion. Several people I know had to get a new e-mail addy so
I just assumed everyone on home had to do that.

Subject: GWD in two new movies

Just the other day I was surfing the web, and visited my favorite movie
information site (IMDb). There I found Ger staring in two new movies:
'American Psycho II: All American Girl' and 'Hypercube 2'. Both are
classified as being in production, and should be released in the US
sometime in the year of 2002. Just thought all of the Ger fans would
like this piece of info.

You know you've been watching/reading too much FK when you are looking at
a message that has been forwarded many times, and find an e-mail address
with LC's radio persona in the identity proportion. Now you know what he
calls himself over the web, if that is really LC.

I at first didn't like this show much. It's getting better. I think it was
becasue I was waiting for Ger to be there a lot and he wasn't. I caught the
first one this last weekend, again. It's really much better than I thought.
If this is one way to get Ger on TV every few weeks then I want to support
it. Eps 6 was a much better role exporsure for Ger. It's not Forever Knight
but it does have Ger. I hope everyone will give the reruns another look.

        A vampwolf.
Such a creature would have a strong attraction to itself.
                :-)

Seriously, I've never heard of such a creature in any traditional
mythology I've read. You may want to go with something like
vampwolf just because it is obvious what you mean....

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the history thing. After all, they would tell it
correctly! (and with a whole lot of personal veiws too.) <G> I can see it

Tracker is not showing in the DC area. I sent an
e-mail to Lions Gate Entertainment about a week ago to
inquire about stations in the area that are--or may be
at some future date--showing Tracker. Their response
was that no stations in the DC area have picked up the
show nor does there appear to be any plans to bring
Tracker to this area. I was looking forward to seeing
it, but, after reading the comments on the list, I
don't know if I've really missed much.

For those of you who have seen Tracker, how prominent
is Ger's role? I know it's only a recurring character
but from what I've read, he's a key character to the
show's storyline.

That was about my thought as well. My instinctive
reaction to "what do you call it" was "impossible."
Although vampires and werewolves come from the same
place in mythology, and they do overlap at some points
(see Dracula and his ability to transform into
animals, including a wolf and a half wolf/half man, at
will) if you're referring to the MODERN Bela Lugosi
vampire and Lon Cheney Jr. werewolf, I don't think
they CAN be half and half. I think to be a classic
werewolf the person has to be alive, and to be a
classic vampire they have to be dead, and never the
twain shall meet. Unless you count a vampire's
ability to transform itself unrelated to the phases of
the moon, I don't think they ever mix in mythology.

If you want to make up an offspring of a werewolf and
a vampire...uh..."vampwolf" could work, uhm, someone
mentioned dhampir and as that's usually a half-human,
half-vampire child, and the were was presumably in
human form to reproduce, that would work (although the
traditional dhampir is very strange in and of itself,
and also often grows up to be a vampire hunter.)
Were-vamp? Unluckiest person on the face of the earth?

Yes, Lucien Lacroix's name is ironic, until perhaps the very last ep. when he
releases Nick from the dark gift he had bestowed on him and lets him
step into the light (Yes, I know there is much disagreement concerning the
final ep, but this is my take on it.) Give a dog a bad name & he'll live up
to it. Perhaps the reverse is also true.

Go to

It shows entries for both Indiana and Illinois. I didn't try any other

Mmmm. Perhaps, Lucien's name isn't ironic.
Consider it from LaCroix's viewpoint - and from the show's which
often portrayed vampires in a sympathetic light. From this
perspective, LaCroix is the one who brought enlightenment to Nick.
Who showed Nick the world he - at that time - was dreaming of. A
world without pretense or the "phoniness" of a "holy war".
In the often-times upside down world of the vampires, LaCroix's
"dark gift" is the awakening of someone to the light that is
immortality.

Today is St. Nicholas's Day, which would have been of importance to Nick in his
mortal life. Most medieval people celebrated their patron saint's days instead
their own birthdays.

This particular St. Nicholas (of Myra or of Bari, depending on whether you go
with his bishopric or the location of his relics) is the best-known. In the
Middle Ages he was a major patron and via the Netherlands custom of celebrating
his day with gifts for the children, he is the basis for our Santa Claus. Nick
was a Brabantian, which is now mostly in Belgium with a little bit in The
Netherlands, so he was in the center of this.

If Lisa doesn't mind, I wanted to add a few more interesting tidbits about
St. Nicholas. His patronage of children stems from his discovery, in a
butcher's cellar of three murdered boys, pickled in a barrel of brine, whom
he miraculously restored to life.

Along with being the Patron Saint of children, St. Nicholas is also the
Patron Saint of sailors, merchants, and pawnbrokers. He's known to have
rescued three sailors from drowning, and three falsely accused prisoners
from execution.

I would say that Nick, being or *trying* to be a noble, heroic
figure/character was well named after this Saint.

I rather suspect that "LaCroix" was chosen by the old vampire for ironic
reasons, but in light of what you've written, it is conceivable that it could
also indicate perhaps that he brings people to the "crossroads"....
