Highly unlikely. It's almost impossible to get a permit to do this in
Canada, and for a cop to get caught doing it without a permit would be even
worse than for a regular citizen, I think. If I recall correctly, you have
to show strong evidence that you have reason to fear for your life from a
specific person or persons, as well as having thorough weapons training.
Even if Tracy were on her way to the gun range to do some off-duty
practice, her handgun would be in a locked case, with the ammunition stored
separately.

Yes, I know I just sent out a virus. No, it was not intentional. Yes, I'm
taking care of it. I'm terribly sorry.

This is true in the real world in Toronto. An off-duty police officer
has no more rights than an ordinary citizen in this respect. Even on
duty, non-uniform police officers do not, except in very special
circumstances, carry a weapon.

However in the FK world, Nick was often shown removing his gun and
holster in his loft. In fact, he seemed to be storing his gun in a box
in the living room table, which would be a major no-no in real life in
Canada. In Blackwing (?), Tracy was shown at home, dressing for work and
checking her gun.

It is also dubbed in Portuguese here in Brazil.

That's because hero charecters have to have weaknesses and faults to make
them human so we can empathise with them. Evil archettypes aren't nearly
so... imperfect. ;)=

Several of my Honduran co-workers said they had watched it there in Spanish.
The Spanish title is 'Cabellero de la Noche' (Knight of the Night).
My own question: does high-voltage electricity effect vampires the same way
fire does? I think it has the same basic effect on cell structure.

Megan, villains IMO also need to be able to show human faults and
weaknesses,. They just give you glimpses of them order for you to be able to
identify. If they are truly and completely evil then there is nothing else
to consider. ie: What is LC's motivation for wanting to control Nick? OH
he's just evil that's all. He has no other motivation. I can't like a guy
like that. Knowing that he honestly loves Nick and is just a rotten parent,
gives me motivation to like him, yet revel in the strength of his
"evilness". Does this make any sense?

I've been in contact with the concom for LUNACON 2002
and it looks like we may be able to run a 5 or 6 hour
FK marathon in addition to having a fan table. LUNACON
is primarily a literary SciFi convention but it does
of course have people who are also interested in TV
and movies as well. In the past I'd guess they have
had anywhere from 1500 to 3000 attendees. The dates
for the con are March 15-17 2002, the location is the
Ryetown Hilton(affectionately known as the Escher
Hilton for it's unique floorplan) in Rye New York. If
you live in the New York Metro area (or elsewhere if
you don't mind the trip :) please consider being part
of the team. Even if you can only volunteer a few
hours it will help. This is just the kind of thing we
need to be doing at every available opportunity so if
you can't help with LUNACON, how about checking for
conventions coming to your neck of the woods and
contact the concom about having a panel, runnning a
table and most importantly running videos. As FK has
been off the air in the US for quite a bit there may
be many people unfamiliar with the show. Let's help
them out. Help keep Forever Knight alive.

I know I like my villains complex. evil "just because"
doesn't quite work for me. they have to have some
sort of reason for being evil. in LC'c case, it's
because he's (basically) a control freak. ...&c., &c.
I have to restrain myself from babbling, especially
since my words aren't conveying very well. *sigh*

*sigh* the gremlins in my computer are out to get me :( I swear I'm not
paranoid they really are out to get me :P
Anyway dragging this post off my mental condition and on to the point .....
For some reason my dial-up connection has been kinda flakey since I moved
back to Wellington for the summer and no one seems to be able to tell me
why. This means that I can't update my website at all (even my e-mail is
kinda hard to get)
:(( this also means that the question of the week is on a temporary hiatus
until someone can figure out my puter for me. I'm beginning to think I'm a
walking disaster zone, so before I start angsting too much (as a knightie is
liable to do) I think I will go and cheer myself up with a lil GWD fix now
that my tapes are unpacked :)))
catch ya'll later

This may be a case of "writing for the south-of-the-border audience, as
many US municipalities require police officers to carry their service
pieces 24/7. (Others require them to wear their pieces whenever in uniform,
on the job, and in transit to/from the job.)

I always thought that was a desk drawer... a place that, at least on TV and
in the movies, is rather common for people to place their "needs to be
accessible at a moment's notice" handguns.

Okay, this immediately made me picture Nick getting
caught up in an Immortal's quickening. Wonder what
that would do. Has anybody ever written this scenario?
