A lot of them are labeled 'Dutch' - which makes me wonder which dvd region
they are good for...

Last I asked the guys at Anchor Bay they were still working on releasing
Nick Knight on dvd - hasn't happened yet, tho. :(

Subject: A Fang-tastic Idea to Vastly Improve Sci-fi

Just thought I would share this with you...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Sci-fi:
You have so many shows on your line-up, even old shows that probably do not
get very many viewers. There is bound to be room for the show I am about to
mention. Please consider it, because I know there are 1,000's of fans out
there that would add your channel to their line-up if you put it back and
this show currently is not airing anywhere in the USA...
*Forever*... That is the first word in this show's title. It was a show that
was truly meant to be *forever* but only had three seasons. It was a show
that was never properly promoted, lowering its chance of being known. It was
a show always on too late at night or too early in the morning for most
people to see. It was a show with truly remarkable story-lines and a story
that goes on and on, making you follow it in amazement. It was a show with
superb actors that brought its characters to life. It was both Science
Fiction and Fantasy. It *is* a show that should be brought back to your
line-up so that it may truly go on *forever.* It is *Forever Knight.*
Forever Knight is a dramatic/adventure series that chronicles the life of
Nick Knight (Geraint Wyn Davies). Nick's a 13th century vampire, living his
current life in Toronto. In an effort to regain his mortality, Nick decides
to atone for the last nearly 800 years of blood-thirst and evil living, by
fighting crime on behalf of the Toronto police force. Every episode we see
shows more of his long over-whelming past and new mysteries to solve,
bringing the passionate vampire closer to his goal.
"When the sun goes down, so does the crime rate..."
Ironically, neither of Nick's assigned partners, in Forever Knight's three
season run, discover what he is when working with him. They note the odd
behavior, allergy to the sun, always first to the crime scene, lack of
appetite, superior strength, and other not so normal traits, but never
actually find out what Nick really is. Though, Schanke (John Kapelos),
Nick's season one and two, wise-cracking, partner comes very close in the
end.
As Nick works, Natalie Lambert (Catherine Disher), the only mortal who knows
the truth about Knight, searches for a cure for his immortality. On the
other side, LaCroix (Nigel Bennett), the vampire master who originally
converted him to the darkness back in Paris, 1228, works against Nick's
quest for a cure. He and Nick's former vampire lover and accomplice in
wickedness, the beautiful vampire Janette (Deborah Duchene) try to lure him
back into the darkness and accept his true nature.
If you return the re-runs to your schedule, as you had for several years,
you will make so many fans happy. This could even gain new fans and viewers
to your channel, especially if you put Forever Knight on during Prime Time
or at least night. It deserves a chance. Let Nick's quest for mortality
continue. Let LaCroix continue his evil torments.... and let Natalie finally
have her forbidden love with her vampire.
If you brought this show back to your channel and gained numbers of new
viewers, why not consider a new return movie? The cast are still around and
look fabulous. For the vampires, such as Nick and LaCroix, there could have
just been a temporary "fever" that went around making them age slightly
during its time. There was an episode revolving around vampires getting
sick: "Fever" of Season 3. A new movie would truly be a dream come true for
so many Forever Knight fans.
"This is my city...the night is my beat...and the evil I have seen will
haunt you...it will seduce you...it will chill you...and if you're not
careful...it will drain you...
FOREVER KNIGHT...
It's going to be a long one..."
Please Sci-fi, let it truly be a long one...
Subject: Query about "Close Call" and Schanke
Hi Everyone:
I had a question about the end of "Close Call".
Since Schanke decided to accept LC's explanation
of things, he came away as a mortal.  I'm
wondering though...if LC had been forced to bring
him across (or worse--made Nick do the dirty
deed), I wonder what kind of effect that would
have had on the third season?
Just a question from the Midwest....Hope everyone
had a great weekend.
Thanks
Subject: Blitzing for the Knight: September
Hi everyone,
It's that time again and yes the blitzes to TPTB are still going! I'm going
to continue the monthly reminders and updates as well. Forget what their
about or new to the list? Read below...
This entire month we are focusing on three powers that be, Tristar, Sci-fi,
and TNT!
A lot of FK fans have wondered why we don't approach other networks about
possibly reviving the series. Well, we will continue to include TNT, and of
course Sci-fi and Tristar.
E-mail: tnt@t.......
(and place in the subject line: "To The Attention Of The Vice-President of
Programming")
You also may call TNT's Viewer Comment and Question Line at (404) 885-4538,
however we ask that any phone calls be in addition to letters and e-mails.
For snail mail, send to:
Vice-President of Programming
TNT 1010 Techwood Drive, NW
Atlanta, GA 30318
Its going to be a big dose of e-mails from each of you the fans that would
love to not only have FK back on Sci-fi's schedule, but want to make sure
everyone knows that we are want more FK with the original cast in new
episodes and or movies!! So, what do you say? Are you ready to sit down,
take that few minutes and send off three e-mails? It could make all the
difference in the world!
Remember, say a little or say a lot, but say it!! We can make more FK
happen!!!
For this "whole" month, we are asking everyone to blitz the feedbacks!!! You
can re-use the e-mails you did before, or write new ones. They can be long,
or as short as just saying, "Bring Back Forever Knight."
Important info to add in your letters: During this current blitz, we could
ask that an upcoming "SCIography" ep feature FK! So far, they plan to do eps
on "Battlestar Galactica", "Quantum Leap" and "Sliders", so asking them if
they plan to do a "SCIography" ep about FK can't hurt.
Also, Sci-Fi is airing "Sci-Fi World", which is a 6 hour block of sci-fi
programs with a different theme each day. It's also possible to ask them if
FK will be a part of the "Sci-Fi World" programming block!
ALSO REMEMBER!! Sci-fi will be changing its schedule around again soon....
lets make sure that we get Forever Knight on!!!
Sci-Fi's E-mail: feedback@w....... and/or program@w.......
Sony/Tristar Mail Form: http://www.spe.sony.com/spe/help_feedback_index.html
When e-mailing TriStar,(especially) give as much personal info as you
can...rather than just an e-mail name. A bit more personal carries more
weight with TPTB.
If you have  a FK website and would like to link to my "Save FK" page about
the blitzes feel free to use the banner I made (found on my "Save FK" page).
Long Live the Knight!
Nicole deBoer has done at least 3 Outer Limits, perhaps more;  In an
interview post-DS9, she said she had a number of offers from the Outer
Limits people that she had to turn down lest she be pegged solely as a SF
actress.
Subject: Nick Knight DVD off Ebay
Yes there are a handful of auctions featuring this item. One seller I contacted
said it was produced by Top Ten Media Productions. Ltd. I was the winning
bidder on one auction last week, so if/when I get the DVD I will dutifully
report here the details.   The claims on Ebay and from one ( rather
questionable) seller who contacted me off Ebay is that these DVDs are rare and
hard to find-- yet there were quite a few on EBay auctions. So much for rare
and hard to find. The complete press kits are the truly hard to find ones.
And yes I do suspect these are pirated copies, perhaps made from the laserdisc.
Problem is Ebay frowns highly on selling pirated copies of videos, DVDs and
software. Doesn't mean they aren't being listed, OC.  The Song of the South
videos is one such piracy, Long story.
Anyway when I get this I will tell y'all what it is and is not. I did hear some
time back that Sony WAS thinking of putting the movie out to DVD. So maybe it
is legit, maybe not.
There were rumors last year of a Region 1 DVD release
for Nick Knight, however it never materialized.  Any
DVDs out there are almost certainly pirated copies.
As for it being an overseas release, that *is* a
possibility; however, even if it was released
overseas--say a European Region 2 release--it will
only play on a non-region DVD player, and there aren't
a lot of those out there.
I've been keeping an eye out for this title to be
released on DVD, so I'll be curious to see just what
this turns out to be--a pirated DVD or perhaps even a
VCD (some DVD players will play these discs also).
Who knows, maybe pirated copies of Nick Knight will
even prompt TPTB to do something about it--like,
perhaps, actually releasing it on DVD <g>.  However,
given the ability of TPTB to follow through with
plans--I'm thinking specifically here of C/T's plans
to release FK to video several years back--I'm not
holding my breath.
This is not always the case.  Some overseas releases are Region 0, which
can be played on any machine.
Another possiblilty is that some of the dealers have come across a closeout
of these discs which would account for the sudden appearance.
Not every dealer on eBay is a crook and not every movie item is a bootleg
or pirated copy.  eBay is VERY strict about such things and legitimate
dealers are quick to turn in the bad apples.
Another note, that I forgot to add in my last post.
On those auctions that say DUTCH, that simply means that a dealer is
selling more than one identical item in the same auction.  The bidder then
has the option of bidding on all or just some or one of the quantity
offered.  It's a time saving idea to save sellers from listing each item
individually.
I don't think anyone was saying all dealers on ebay are crooks. Shoot, I'm one.
But the questions are arising as a number of us, including myself, have been
waiting for this to come to DVD and as far as we'd EVER been able to determine
is that NICK KNIGHT had not been released on DVD.
Then suddenly it is on eBay but can't be found anywhere else?
It may be a case where they were made and never hit the regular markets, I've
seen that happen with books. But I don't want to spend $50 for it to begin with,
and like many others, want to be sure it is a legit release.
Ebay is strict, but I know with things like needlework patterns, the actual
copyright holder has to contact eBay, not just anyone.
Anyway, if anyone gets one of these, I'd be curious to hear of the quality and
whether it appears to be legit (the descriptions read as though they are). There
should be a company listed on the DVD and they could be contacted to make sure
of the legitimacy.
I'd just have to say Nick.
Firstly, you could pass a lot of time listening to him talk about his existence.
Secondly, I would love to try to get him out of his funk a bit.  Try to work on
cheering him up.  And, thirdly, hopefully there would be wild boar on the island
(I'm trying to be realistic.  I'm sure there wouldn't be any wild cows!), so
he'd possibly have an alternative diet.  Well if I have to change my diet, so
does he.
Lastly (for those who know that my husband's name is Nick in RL and that we know
each other for over 16 years), it would just be a habit to call "Nick" when I
needed something.
It's not the DVD region encoding. "Dutch" = dutch
