Well, it's kinda a moot point since I'll be replacing the whole shebang with
Bonnie is being so kind as to share her creation of the war posts, and
thereby saving me much time and work. And I was just wanting colors for the
factions, not their particular colors since that would be a rather difficult
thing to do. Say I put up a dark pink for the DP's and then I might get
several emails telling me that that particular shade of dark pink isn't the
DP's color after all. Then I would have to go through and change all the
link colors by hand to match what several other people think of as the
factions' colors. I just like the random picking of the colors!

Maybe deeppink or palevioletred? (I'm going by HTML colors, which
have to be typed all as one word). There is also hotpink and
magenta, but those more perky colors, I think. And magenta is more
purplish than pink.

>The Knighties might be better in a lighter blue or caddy green.

Hmmm...turquoise is kind of like the caddy color. Paleturquoise
might work too.

>Mercs work for profit so they might look good in a green.

There's forestgreen, but I don't think it would look the greatest on
a dark background. Green is also really dark. There are several
light green shades including limegreen, chartreuse, greenyellow,
springgreen and lawngreen.

>Ravenettes might look good in red.

There is also crimson (slightly deeper than red) and tomato (which is
more orangish than red).

>How about a light brown for Vaqs?

Linen might work, it's a pale brownish color. There is also peru,
more of a reddish brown though. Tan or wheat might work.

>A light gray or silver for Cousins?

Whitesmoke is a nice silver shade and is much lighter than the html
silver color.

>Gold (shiny pretties money) for the RatPack?

There is a gold html color. There's also goldenrod, palegoldenrod,
and khaki (which shows up more gold than tan on my computer).

There are also hexidecimal color pickers for getting the exact color
(like the caddy's shade), but text format is the easiest method.

Ok, sorry guys! I hit send accidentally to the message before this one and
didn't get to clean it up- remove the longish sig, and the included-in-reply
message. Totally accidental and I'm sorry!

Some comments on color schemes here:

(1) Sandra's color problems might be a function of her video board or
display (monitor) as much as they might be problems in coding.

Before you go springing any other colors on us -- I remember a discussion
here not too long ago when someone -- I think it was one of the Nancys? --
noted that she had serious problems reading red on black. Yeah, it's a
popular vampish color combo -- but if the folk here can't read your page,
what good is it?

On the same order as people who have trouble reading certain (colors,
typefaces, etc.): you may want to make sure your site is accessible to
(i.e., readable by) any person who may be color-blind or who may have
color-deficient vision. There are a number of online tools available to
help with this. (You might want to read
http://www.webtechniques.com/archives/2000/08/newman/ for some information
regarding color-blindness as it relates to reading Web pages, and/or visit
http://www.webtechniques.com/archives/2000/08/newman/online.shtml for
online resources to help design with color vision deficiency in mind.)

To bring this a little closer to FK: remember that "Vamp's Eye View, when
vamped out" is mostly in shades of red and black -- no colors. It could be
that in vamp mode, our favorite characters are -- you guessed it -- color
blind!

I must say I echo this wholeheartedly. I can see just fine, but I
have Meniere's which means my brain is constantly struggling
to cope with the offbeam messages sent by my eyes. I'm grateful
for clarity -- style comes a distant second, and absolutely
nowhere at all if it it renders the text just too much like hard work
to fully absorb. And thanks for all the hard work, Anita.

Subject: Book author help needed!

I'm currently trying to write a book, sci-fiction/fantasy, and am running into
road blocks. I need help from someone who's already been through the whole
process and can be an advisor, mentor, and support since my family thinks this
whole endeavor is a waste of time, and I cannot find anything on on how to write
and what to do on the web. Could anyone interested please email me privately?
Thank you :)
