In "Human Factor," Tracy has to drive up to Oxbridge to talk to Patrick and his
aunt. Can anyone tell me, if Oxbridge is a real location, how far and in what
direction it is from Toronto? How long would it take to drive there from
downtown -- one way? Thanks!

Just in case anyone else is as anal-retentive as I am, I have
separate folders for each author whose story or stories I've been
able to archive. I have 637 of them. I'm not even going to count how
many I have alphabetized by title...

Just a note about disappearing web sites. IF ANYONE is having trouble keeping a
web site--ie site goes down, you are paying for the site and can't afford it,
etc LET ME KNOW! I will download it and put it somewhere! I don't want stuff
disappearing like the ftp site did before. Dees anyone know where the NNPack
fiction is? The Mortal Love site is still there, but the Regular Fiction is
gone. The Adult Fiction is still there, though.

I will save it if you are having problems!

I used this incident in a piece of fic a few years back. I found the
details in a book titled "The Druids", by Peter Berresford Ellis.

The short version is that a Gaul named Julius Sabinus led an uprising
against Rome. His side lost. He faked his suicide to escape capture and
spent many years in hiding. His wife, Eponina, kept him fed and clothed,
and then she went to Rome to try and win a pardon for him. It all ended
rather badly, with he and his wife being taken to Rome in chains and
executed around 78 AD.

The timing of the incident was absolutely perfect to fit into the FK
timeline and with LC's FB in AtA.

The book is very good, and I'd certainly recommend it to anyone interested
in Gaulish/Celtic culture and history. It's been very helpful in writing
LaCroix Roman FB material for a couple of stories.

And since I've been told that a little self promotion is quite alright
<waves to Laurie>, if you'd like to read the fic in question, it's "Oaths",
and it can be found here http://www.mbay.net/~ithildin/tales/
But I'd recommend Mr. Ellis's book over my fic any day <g>

Just out of curiosity, has there ever been an ep in FK involving any sort of
magic, even just a mention of it? Possibly in Nick's search for a cure? I
don't seem to recall one, but then I haven't seen every all the episodes yet.

I think this is so cool. Thanks for telling us about this, guys. It makes
you wonder if there's anything else the writers knew about that isn't
common knowledge. Has anyone found anything to explain why there'd still
be a group of Pagans in Wales in the 13th century?

How about that Battle of Hastings thing? Okay, okay, that's probably too
much. I think that guy just had a really bad time with dates. <g>

I'm not sure what you mean here. Certainly there's a
much clearer line between good and evil in the
Buffyverse than in F.K. but that certainly dosn't make
for a lack of moral conflict. Observe what happened
last season when Faith showed up.

> I can't deny that the fight scenes in Angel, or
> Buffy for that matter, are fun to watch;

I don't think the action scenes are what appeal to
most B&A fans. Certainly they're not a big talking
point on any of the B&A web sites or e-groups I'm part
of.

> But the stories, the characters, the questions they
> ask, are so two-dimensional.

I disagree, I've been party to plenty of quite
interesting discussions on questions such as to what
exstent is Angel the same person as Angelus. And I
think the evolution of Cordelia's character, for
example, has been quite interesting. Granted, she
extremely two dimensional to begin with, but that was
presented as satire, actually, that's one important
difference between B&A and F.K., B&A have a strong
element of comedy\ satire.

As I said before, the Buffyverse is much more
black\white than the F.K. universe. This for me is a
big appeal, it always bothered me that Nick, even
though he had personally renounced killing and was
working for redemption was perfectly happy to stay
friends with vampires who continued to kill mortals.

Well, that's my two cents.

I think that's pretty much the reason FK had a difficult time of it. It's
an extremely complex show, especially in its second season IMO. That's a
huge part of why I like it so much, but it also made it doomed from the
get-go. Even some of my perfectly intelligent friends can't comprehend
what's going on in Forever Knight.

I'm just glad we had three seasons of such a wonderful show. I just wish
we could have had an ending to it that I could have been comfortable with.

Actually the town is Uxbridge and it is a real town NE of Toronto on
Hwy 47, about an hour's drive out of the city.

I know a lot of listmembers don't think that getting more of FK is
impossible, but I watched "Pretender" last night and thought FK might still
have some hope of getting a TV movie if we could just keep the faith and
write to TPTB.
I understand by the promo after the two hour "Pretender" movie that there are
more in the works.
Maybe we should redouble our efforts and have another writing day like we did
on July 10, 99. TNT should also be a target for our letters since they
picked up the "Pretender" and produced movies.

No there hasn't been any fairy tale like magic, in FK. There's been an
Indian with a powers to heal, a few ghosts from Nick's past, but that's it.

North of 60 fans did it http://www.wintertime.com/OH/nof60.html (tons of FK
content). There were *six* seasons of the show, which is still shown every
weekday on CBC (Trio TV in the US), and the *third* follow-up movie is in
final stages of production and will air in 2001. North of 60 even had a
'caring evil' patriarch who was murdered by his son and came back!

People in common with Forever Knight include: Blu Mankuma (guest star--did
anyone catch him in Outer Limits recently?), Tracey Cook (main character),
Robert Bockstael (main character), Julie Stewart (main character), and
Geraint Wyn Davies (Director-one episode)

Well, depending on what you count as magic, how about the jade cups
from the pilot? One might also be able to make an argument for the
possession and exorcism in "Sons of Belial."

Note: These aren't meant as an attack on any religious beliefs.

Unfortunatly, it can make a big difference for FK if any of the
actors have aged noticably. I can't speak for everyone, but that's
the main reason I believe that at this point we aren't likely to get
a TV movie. :(

Also, as a fan of Babylon 5, I know that TNT TV movies can be a bit
of a mixed blessing. (1 good, 2 so-so, 1 terrible. YMMV)

Just as a point of interest, the harp in Queen of
Harps was supposed to be definitely magical. The
writer, Gillian Horvath, intended for the harp
actually to cry out in the scene where the modern de
la Barre grabs it. This was not done in the final cut.

She wanted it known at the time that de la Barre's
fatal encounter with the truck, wasn't her idea. :)
