Subject: In the Beginning...

... there was Jaye. Jaye was then an undergraduate at the Pennsylvania
State University (as opposed to the State Penitentary down the road).
Jaye was a creature full of enthusiasm, who had a major thing for a
certain Mr. Wyn Davies. She had unwittingly stumbled upon Forever Knight
as Mr. Wyn Davies' latest project. She saw Forever Knight, and it was
good. It came to her that it would be nice to speak of the raptures of
watching Forever Knight with other fans, and she approached her
then-supervisor to query about, wooo, a mailing list. Her supervisor
directed her to speak to her professor, a gentleman of some distinction in
the field of IS, who then referred her to the aforementioned Bill Verity.

Now, Mr. Verity is a very nice guy with a passion for M&Ms and old cars.
Since we cannot buy him an old car, M&Ms would always be welcome, and this
certainly wouldn't be the first time he has been bribed by M&Ms in real
life by listmembers (not to mention Jaye's, not Laurie's, fictional
bribery of him by such in War 1).

Since Laurie has since found other employment and has left the hallowed
halls of Penn State, and Jaye graduated 5 years ago, Mr. Verity has ever
so kindly maintained the lists' presence on the Penn State mainframe (once
the largest academic-only IBM mainframe in the entire world -- and Jaye
won't mention how she crashed it once, oh no). The list celebrated a
non-birthday on December 9th... and now it's been around for 8 years.
Imagine that. Note, however, that Penn State's policy on lists is that
at least one owner of the list must be a resident of the university,
preferably a faculty or staff member (for lo, now in these days, mere
students cannot have mailing lists there). With the departures of both
Jaye and Laurie, Bill is the list's only reason for staying there. He is
both the list's silent partner and conspirator in keeping the list where
it has been for 8 years now. A little thanks in the form of chocolate is
the least we can do for him. However, since Jaye does not personally have
the wherewithall to buy him a new car for Christmas, it is very likely she
will be stopping by his office and leaving him a little chocolatey
goodness when she visits her nearby mother for Christmas....

Donations of M&Ms and M&M merchandise (dispensers, UK Smarties, etc.) can
be sent to:

Bill Verity
xxxxxxx
xxxxxxx

And now back to the first-person mode before I am thought to be a
/complete/ loon. :) Happy Holidays, my friends. I'm glad you're keeping
my baby alive. :)

FORKNI-L RULES

1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE SET NOPOST. THE NOPOST
MAY BE PERMANENT.

2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post in replying.
If you have more than one point to answer, then you may quote the
relevant four lines for that point also.

3. Limit sigs to 6 lines. This includes all information, decoration
quotations and blank lines. Your name and address count as part of
the six. If you sign your name on a separate line above the body of text,
your name and the blank line or lines between count as part of the six
line limit. If you have one of those services that insists on putting an
advertising tag on the end of posts, don't worry. We realize you can't
control that and it doesn't count as part of your sig.

4. Please don't send to the whole list when you are only talking to the
person who wrote the post you are answering.

5. Advertising on list is on a case by case basis. Please consult the
listowners, Lisa McDavid, <mclisa@m.......> or Don Fasig,
<Argent@e.......> for permission.

6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight. Cast, crew, staff and
producers in connection with what they're doing now or have done in the
past are ok. Vampires in general are _NOT_ ok except in relation to
Forever Knight.

7. Off-topic posts are not allowed, no matter what they are about or how
urgent the warning may appear. If you have an off-topic post which you
think should appear on the list, ask one of the owners for permission.

8. The private lives of the cast are not a discussion topic. Occasionally
one of the fan club presidents will make an announcement, but other
than that, we leave the cast their privacy.

9. Con announcements must come from con officials or a designated
liaison and must be kept brief. Cons are only announced on list if there
is a connection to FK.

10. Only fan club presidents or other designated spokespeople may
make announcements of future projects for FK cast, crew and staff,
before said projects have been released or written about in the media.

11. No role-playing on Forkni-l. This includes no character names as
pseudonyms or posing as a character.

12. Each subscriber is limited to five posts per day on Forkni-l.

As Debi McK put so nicely in her sigfile to me:

All I can say is WOW!!!

Because of the generosity and caring of Forever Knight fans, one of our own, KC
and her family, will hopefully have a little more joy this holiday season.

Even if you can't help with presents or financially, remember a holiday card
with your best wishes is always appreciated. (You can even send an electronic
one.) If you want to donate financially, using your credit card, you can PayPal
it to me using this link, and I will send a money order to them for that amount,
in your name. (If you wish it to be anonymous, just let me know.)

Debi McK ("Lorin" <vachesang@s.......>)

I don't know if you're just tracking everything or just 'money' gifts,
but I just mailed off a couple of small gifts for the girls earlier this
week. 'Pokemon' for the two younger girls and a book for the 15 year old.

Julia K. (jkocich@a.......)

A surplus from the Unnamed Faction dailies-and-scripts fund totalling
$150 is being sent to help KC and her family.

Nancy K. (nancykam@m.......)

     $25 donation

Judy L. (JudithL21@a.......)

I mailed a check to KC a few days ago since I figured they needed cash
     more then anything else.

Libby (Libratsie@a.......)

I've sent off a package to KC's family and thought I'd let you know
     what I sent.

$20 check (actually from a co-worker who asked me why I looked so down
one day and I told him... He insisted on helping, especially after
reading the e-mail about the girls saying they had things while others
had nothing thus refusing Toy for Tots! He's only seen FK a few times,
     but does like the show)

a jigsaw puzzle of a military plane for Paul

some bath items (body scrub, etc) and "fragrance balls" (to place in a
bowl to fragrance a room) for KC

a eyeshadow collection, one fingernail polish, and one frost white
lipstick for the 15 year old

two pairs of "toe socks" and a Scooby Doo keychain/treasure keeper for
     the 10 year old

several plastic "jewelry" items (rings, necklaces) and a play purse
for the 7 year old to play dress up

I also included for the entire family an autographed picture of Greg
Kramer and a video tape of a local production (with me as a wicked
step sister<g>) of Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA (so the girls
could see who'd sent them the gift)

Oh... and 3 plastic ratsies to guard the package on the journey - LOL!

Lorna (piglet@c.......)

I have both a Ken doll and a Stacey that I had bought on sale for my
niece several years ago and found out she already had them and would
dearly love for them to have a good home.

Carla M. (Copper6500@y.......)

I'm going shopping today or tomorrow, and will pick up some gifts, as
well as a monetary gift, and then send it all out.

Janet (Dolpfin220@a.......)

$25 donation in exchange for Carla doing her resume

Unfortunately, the paper doesn't want to be paid in cash, and, living in the
UK, my bank has quoted the equivalent of $25 inclusive charge for a $10
bankdraft...I may flip a coin to decide whether I let the bank or eBay rip
me off...

Subject: Another update on KC

Things seemed to be getting better, especially with all of the e-mails
of good wishes that were received. But two phone calls and a letter came
demanding payments and KC had a severe anxiety attack. Hers are like
seizures, in that she has no control over them and she is totally unaware
of her surroundings during them. Usually she grabs hold of something
until her knuckles turn white, or curls up in a ball on the floor. She
hyperventilates and cries uncontrollably. It is really a scary sight,
even if you know what is happening.
Her doctor upped her Ativan dosage to its limit. Because it's a
narcotic, they have to be careful with it. Also, they only give her a
small amount at a time, since she is still teetering on suicidal. If this
doesn't do the trick, she will probably be put into the local mental
hospital for awhile.
Paul managed to send the car financing company 800 dollars, so they
wouldn't lose their car, but now they have to still worry about
utilities, the rent and the overdue charges on the car payment. With
KC's health being the way it is, people are reluctant to hire her. (She's
been looking for a job since mid October). Since her psychiatrist says
that she is fit to work (go figure), she cannot collect disability or
Social Security and Paul makes too much for them to get any financial
assistance, but not enough to support them. It's a vicious cycle.
When I leave, there are a number of families from Paul and KC's church
that are going to help out. One of the stay- at- home moms is going to
stay with her during the day, until the kids get home. Another woman is
going to come later in the afternoons and help with meals, homework and
keeping an eye on the kids.
I feel that they will be in good hands.
Now, KC and I watched a fifteen hour Forever Knight marathon (she made
me watch her favorite episodes at least twice) and I am finding myself
getting hooked on it. I never thought I'd hear myself say this!
Unlike KC, however, who is a diehard Nick/Natpacker (she explained all
the different 'factions' to me), I happen to LOVE LaCroix! I think he is
absolutely wonderful. I'm going to be getting my own e-mail account and
would like to know how to join this list (KC can't remember how she did
it). Also, what are the factions related to LaCroix and the details
about each one?
Last question. What is the best episode to see LaCroix at his evil
best? Or number of episodes, since I'm sure several people have
different opinions on the subject!
Thanks again for all of your love and support for KC and her family. It
is greatly appreciated!

I forgot to ask something else. KC has been asking if the rest of 'A
Common Need' or something like that, has posted, as well as 'Mortal
Ties'. If they have, could someone pass them on to us? She can't wait
to read them.
It seems that if she reads FK fan fiction, she seems to be a happier
camper. I've heard her laughing a few times, as she's read something in
a story that she thought was funny. I have been printing out the stories
for her and allowing her to read them wherever she is most comfortable.
 Thanks again!

Both stories are still unfinished.

However, Here are a few new stories that have been posted in the last
month or two. If you or KC would like more please feel free to contact
me.
I have a very large collection. I can also create a cdrom of stories, if
kc would like one.
