As an addendum to that, the "Prey" fans have been told by the SciFi channel
that SciFi is thinking about producing something for that show, and credit
it almost all to the fan letter writing, et. al. So this is one more piece
of good news that our FK fan letters must be getting read by someone !!!!

Important update from the folks at Black Hat Productions

September 6, 2000

The Crusade for a Cure Convention September 16 - 17, 2000 HAS BEEN CANCELED
BY THE ORGANIZERS. We were just notified today, so we wanted to make sure
to pass on the news to all those fans who had hoped to see Nigel there.
Unfortunately, Nigel has no control over this, but he is definitely looking
forward to seeing folks at LCA 3.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Star Trek was also once revived by
fans. Granted, Star Trek has a huge fan base, but just think what we could
do.

        Sort of true.
The concept of Star Trek was revived in The Next Generation,
but hte original cast wasn't reassembled (OK, in the movies, but
they don't count for this conversation), they took the idea and used
new people and situations.
I don't think we will ever see another Forever Knight with the
original cast (maybe, maybe as a 2 hour TV movie, but I doubt it).
What I do think is possible is that the concept is revived.
I could see ETERNAL NIGHT as a vampire series with a new
cast. I do think that it is obvious that Janette and LaCroix are still
around after LAST KNIGHT. I think it is possible that they may
appear as "surprise guest stars" in an episode or two.
Vampires have been an enduring social myth for generations.
I hold hope that the Forever Knight legend will not die, but will
be reincarnated into something new with the proper respect for
what was done before.
UltraViolet was an interesting series on SciFi.
ETERNAL NIGHT could pit a group of vampire hunters against
an organizing vampire shadow government.
I can just see the first season cliff-hanger season finale when it
is revealed that the mysterious vampire master leader is Lucien
LaCroix.
Put a vampire-killer with a trouble conscience in the mix and
you could produce a show as deeply questioning as what does it
mean to be human and what constitutes murder since
BLADERUNNER was done.

Actually Tim is incorrect. NBC wanted to cancel Star Trek after its first
season--fan letters poured in. NBC did not want to admit it, but the fan
outcry made a difference. The Star Trek juggernaut really did not start
to roll until most the the fans of the original show were old enough to
flash some cash, nothing like profit to stimulate action.
Enjoy,
Barbara

I can't stand this indecision married with a lack of vision.

Actually, ST was canceled by Paramount and then revived for a final year with
the entire cast in response to an enthusiastic fan campaign (or was it canceled
after the first year and brought back for two? I don't remember). At any rate,
this is held up as the first successful write-in campaign to save a TV show. And
remember, this was in the mid-sixties, with no internet to spread the news. It
took an awful lot of work!
