This is ridiculous.
What's wrong with simply doing a Survivor story with nothing but the FK cast
and the fictional cast of another tv show?  Surely that would be okay? (and
vastly more entertaining.)
Why drag those RL obnoxious people into it?

As I'm sure others have pointed out by now, there's Serena.  But we don't
find out about her until later.  And, depending on how you feel about the
end of "Human Factor", there's also Janette.

Neglect and inexperience on Nick's part.  I think Richard could have been
alright with better care and guidance.  Say what you will about Lacroix, he
would have known better than to go off and leave a fledgling to his own
devices, no matter what promises said fledgling made.

If I were in her place and started remembering people telling me my husband
was a vampire, and then remembered the attack, I'd immediately find a good
psychiatrist.  That sort of thing is outside of most folks' frame of
reference.  She wouldn't have any hard evidence that anything like that
actually happened, so I would think she'd put it down to the stress of
being widowed.

Once again, plain old inexperience.  Maybe he couldn't come up with a good
enough cover story to explain it, either.  Folks might expect him to
concentrate on the case that Richard was going to prosecute as a way to
honor his "memory".  Nick just plain dropped the ball on this one.  There's
also the fact that he didn't really *want* to bring Richard across, so
maybe subconsciously he was holding back.

So far as anybody knew at this point, Lacroix was no more.  He'd still have
been getting over the events at the end of "Dark Knight" in one way or
another.  I don't think he was in the area or he might have sensed it
through the bonds of the bloodline somehow.  If he had been around, Janette
probably would have known it and warned him what Nick was up to.  Uncle
would have considered it a point of "family" honor to take care of the
fledgling properly, and certainly would have given Nick what-for for not
doing it right.  I'm sure he learned all about it later from Janette; it
doesn't seem like an episode that Nick would like to talk about.

Subject: Nigel Bennett Alert

At 1PM today Eastern time, Ed McBain's 87th Precinct "Ice" will be on
Lifetime Movie Network. LMN usually shows the movies in a loop, so my
satellite guide says that it should play at 11:30 PM tonight also. I heard
that Nigel is in this, so I thought I should post the alert the second I
heard about it! <G>
